and I can not get any from anybody. This requirement is not entertaining or enjoyable. Why may I not become a master scout?

Yea it is a nightmare, in more ways than one. I feel they should lower it to about 500 AP. 640 is just an odd and bothersome number. Not only is it hard to get enough to master a profession, but people are struggling so much to get AP that they SPAM the hell out of all the major Starports. I hate that. And people find ways around it too, like having someone max out Surveying XP, and then training that person over and over again. It's a cheat, but SOE in a way forces people to use means like this when they set such an high requirement for Master. If you did away with the SPAM'ers and these XP exploits, it would take forever outside of being in a Guild to go up. I mean people PAY you to let them train you. Now c'mon. Everyone knows in the real world you pay someone else to train you, not the other way around.

In a nutshell, the system stinks.

Guys,

The system is not so bad - IF you aren't hologrinding.

When I was mastering scout way back in the prehistoric age, it took more than 5 hours to do it, so you were able to go out and group and train folks. AXP is simply designed so that you have to help your fellow players in order to become a master.

Lowering it to 500 is still not going to help the folks who are hologrinding.

The main issue here is simple - don't play in a vacuum. Don't always solo. Hang out. Talk to people. Make friends. Joina guild. I know this isn't the best answer, particularly for casual players, but in the end, what really is more fun about being a Master Scout than being a 4/4/4/4 scout? Nothing - it's just a title.

If you're an achiever, you'll get the AXP somehow. If you're not, then just play the game and enjoy it and don't worry about levelling.

But, I'm not here to give you a lecture. The best thing you cando - after spamming the starports and high traffic areas - is to post your name, server and play times here and see if any of your fellow scouts can help you out. There's usually someone willing to help. And if you're on Bloodfin, look me up.

Puck,

Thanks for the sympathy.

Delta,

You are reasonable and levelheaded as always. Thanks.

find someone who has a ton of combat xp (a lot of people are probably capped at 300k), and teach them ranged support 1 over and over. In 5 minutes, you can max the AP. Course, this is much easier if you belong to a PA, but there are a few nice people in swg, you just have to find them.

it's not just a title if you are going for a profession that requires you to get Master Scout

Find a Master Ranger or Master anything with a lot of skill points in an area he or she is not using.

Example - I dabble in medic, pharm 1, so I have up to 10k medical xp I am not using. That is 200 AXP for training me in pharm 1 10 times.

Even better - I am a Master Pistoleer, with 300k combat xp. No ranged support at all. Want to train me in that oh.... 300 times??

One player trained me in Pharm 1 once (I dropped it to free up skill pts) and Ranged 1I don't know how many times til he was maxed in AXP. Took 5 mnutes. Train, drop, train, drop - not any big deal.

The only trick is finding the Master and then having the right skills to teach. As Scouts you should be dabbling, train outside the profession if you can.

I understand Delta. My point is, as has been brought up in two different posts to this thread, is that people use "cheats" like "XP Harvesting" to train over and over again. I have no real issues in AP. I have 1200 AP without spamming or Xp Harvesting, but with my Bounty Hunter it did become a problem.

My points are simple why this does not work.

1. People SPAM to get the AP. This causes lag and an overall bad experience. It's gotten so bad that if I'm in a city like Coronet, I'll take a shuttle to somewhere like Kor Vella and catch the Starport there to leave the planet. It's horrible. (btw if you MUST Spam, don't do it every 15 seconds)

2. XP Harvesting. Another way around, but still kinda cheating.

3.People paying for AP points. In an ordinary(non-SOE) world, if you want trained in something, you pay for the training. Something is wrong when the person providing the service pays you to use it.

I see the point behind the AP system. To make Master, it makes sense to learn how to train others/teach others your profession before you can be considered Master. However, I think that it has been abused and manipulated so much that the original idea behind the system means nothing anymore.

Yeh I agree Delta. A friend suggested a way around the XP Harvest is when you drop a skill, you lose all XP up to double the amount of your next highestskill. So if you have 20000 Surveying and you go to Level 1, you lose all but 2000 I think it is.

Don't get me wrong. I see nothing wrong with the current system and have used the XP Harvest myself more than once. I just don't like SPAM'ers (nasty processed meat Yuk!)

Spam, as I'm sure you're aware of, is not meat. But rather Stuff Posing As Meat. Glad to have that cleared up.
