Thread: Why go the CH route?

I was wondering why you would want to go CH and a friendly BE can make you a pet and your friendly Master CH can tame train and transfer him to you? I am not being sarcastic but was wondering what the benefits were?

Because there is a huge difference between a Rock Beetle and a Delirious Merek Avenger.

I just posted this on the Scout boards, not used to being a Ranger yet less then a day. I was wondering though the benefits of going CH when a BE can make a pet for you and a Master CH can tame train and transfer him to you?

If you are not a CH...it will be a bad pet. Basically to low end to really do anything. As a CH you will be able to control higher then the Level 15 pet.

I am a Ranger, Novice Pistoleer and 2/4/1/4 for CH and those creatures help tank for me so I can hunt solo a bit more. That combined with my traps, and my Pistol skills I can take out a few lairs on a high end planet.

Makes me more of a tough PvE player. Use traps to slow attacking MOB my PET tanks for me and allows me to throw more traps and bleedshots, specials.

Wolf,

I've asked myself this question often enough.

I think the best answer is "Some people are insane."

If you like PvP, go for it.

If you like being able tokill off the critters near your harvester, go for it.

If you want to go solo on a difficult planet and have a chance of surviving (if you're careful, that is), go for it. Your critters won't do much more than let you run away, but sometimes that's all you need.

If you like the idea of having a weapon that gives you a vague chance of actually surviving that encounter when the entire nest of TuskCats that suddenly spawned on your head, definitely go for it.

If you like showing off your critter to your friends for the "Oh." factor, go for it.

There are a ton of brilliant reasons to go the CH route, if you like. The most important, though, is "Is this what you really want to do?" If the answer is yes, everything else is just rhetoric.

So Delta you do not have any CH training?

I'm a CH so I can have a Dwarf Nuna named Hulk for a body guard, it's quite comical.

Seriously, though, there are benefits to being a CH above and beyond what a MCH trained BE pet can provide to a non-CH.

Extra whup 'em power, extra tankage, a speedbump if things get crazy. A non-CH is limited to CL 15 and below, and while some of those critters are cute, and more than suitable as an escort to harvesters (in most cases) or lower level missions, they just don't pack the same punch as the animals even a relatively low level CH has access to (Greater Sludge Panther comes to mind).

Or just the satisfaction of saying - I hunted this down myself. I tamed it. I trained it. It's *my* pet.

So, I guess it really just boils down to what you want your pet to do.

Here's the real reason to giving CH a serious look. The CH class has THE best part of the game. That being, the stalking and taming of creatures(high level aggros). There is nothing in this game like putting up your maskscent, inching your way into a lair, going prone and trying to tame a baby, only to have it turn and walk/gallop away on the third voice command, trying to stay within 10m without drawing aggro from the adults.

I am totally serious, this is the BEST part of this broken game. It is one of the main reasons I play. I love it. Granted it takes some grinding to get to MCH(some quaestion why go to MCH, rightfully so thx to devs) but I love the thrill of the tame.

Might wanna give it some thought.

And to add to my earlier comment -

I have this picture of the old school D&D Ranger roaming the wilderness with her animal companion when I think about my character. (I plan to master Scout, CH and Ranger if I can. Never figured up the points)

Not sure I understand what you mean there.
