Thread: CU Beta testing

Hello all

When the applications for CU Beta open up, if you are so inclined, put one in. I encourage all Scouts to do so.

You may ask why, as nothing directly affects Scouts. True enough. However - a lot of stuff will indirectly affect how we harvest, and as we all know, harvest is credits.

Without violating the NDA - Line of sight, any new weapons, how traps may be affected by other proposed changes, fighting styles, templates, etc, can all be tested by us.

The entire game is changing, it is up to us to make sure it is for the better. We have that power, use it.

Ya all reports indicate an Open Beta, no one has said anything out loud though.

There was an aplication for Beta some time ago.

If you want to get in on the Beta here is the latest from TH.

There is no ETA given for for TC-EP3beta (the CU beta server) coming up.

this morning when i got onto TC-5, before i had to go to work, I went around killing a few bugs and womp rats in Mos Espa. Everything i harvested only gave me 1 unit, its been a while since i was scout but should that been a bit higher?

Probably a bug. Right now.......at least untill a hotfix of somekind changes it......only areas with actual newbie level mobs are Eisley and Bestine though I heard Naboo you can attack nunas and such and they won't even attack back lol, easy xp. Anyway, was outside Eisley and finally managed to kill something after my friend and I saw the cloner in cnet like 5 times in 20 minutes. I don't remember the name of the thing offhand but it's the Tat version of a nuna. Got something like the normal 5 units or so you'd expect off a newbie mob.

Harvests, even in groups (when you get a message that you got a bonus) are from1 to 5 units of whatever from the newbie mobs. XP is also painfully slow for scout and trapping, but wilderness XP is normal, I suppose because it doesn't involvve killing critters. I've managed to get to 1/1/1/1 scout, but there is no discernable harvesting bonus for Hunting I, so you might as well go Explore I and get some additional terrain negotiation.

I'm playing on TC5 as Tazz, currently playing around Mos Entha, where the crowding is not so bad.

Well one issue I find today after the last publish was the inablity to use player made traps.

The skill points and harvesting of creatures issues seem to be fixed

Please remember that on TC-5 the harvest rates, xp, creature levels, damage taken and given can and will be manipulated by the dev's to steer player/tester activity into particular areas that they, the Dev team, are trying to gain stats from.

In otherwords, they want to see how easily people get to grips with the new distribution of skills and attacks in marksman and brawler so they make it easy to kill things and gain XP to progress there. Later they want to see how team dynamics affect the way people are able to get kills / survive, so they tweak the damage from animals so that you almost 'have' to group in order to get kills.

At this early stage almost anything you see thats a bit weird on TC in terms of creatures and NPC's is almost certainly not an indication of what might be heading for publish at a later date. (I'm thinking here of the 150k ham kreetle and the hermit/nomad gank squads that hit for 2000+ per shot)

Over the next week I'd hope to see things start to firm up a bit, some of the elite professions opening up and maybe some of these new weapons and armout making an appearance. But we'll just have to wait and see what sort of schedule the Dev's are working to.

There is an exceptionally large group of scout/ranger players working regularly on TC and, if you're coming over to give testing a try (and to have a 'little' fun) joing the TC5 public chat channel called RIN. It's useful for finding other scout rangers, forming groups and giving each other a bit of moral support as our feeble 1k ham corpses are ground into the Tatooine dust but manic nunas.

I'm sure you noticed JB but make sure they fix traps today or tomorrow so we can work on leveling that line up to get to MasterScout/Ranger. As it is we are stuck camping and harvesting. I know they took it out cause of people tossing grenades but still....

The trap problem was addressed by the devs and they said they would fix it. So hopefully we can get that tested again

I'll have to look you guys up, I should be on TC again tonight, haven't been on since Saturday. I'm on there as Mekarius. I may add a second one specifically for working through and testing rifles/scout/ranger though because Mekarius needs to be free to test melee only stuff once they open up elite proffs.

Traps are now in working order, or working as well as they ever did

AND MaskScent gives XP again.
