Player Correspondent Opening: Scout
- Are you knowledgeable about the Scout profession?
- Are you a community leader?
- Can you objectively identify relevant issues and distinguish them from simply passionate arguments?
- Do you like organizing information and corresponding with other members of a community?
The Development Team is looking for a volunteer correspondent for the Scout Profession. Participation is completely voluntary and you can stop helping out at any time. We’re just looking for someone who can help us sort through the various issues for this profession.
Some things that you need to consider when applying:
- Developing online games takes a long time. Results happen with long time involvement.
- Player Correspondents should be leaders in their community and set a positive tone.
- Player Correspondents should understand the technical aspects of playing the profession and the needs of their community.
- Player Correspondents should be in touch with the communities concerns, understanding the essence of why players pursue their chosen profession.
Please include your forum name in the letter If this is something you are interested in, please write a short paragraph on why you think you would be a good candidate and email it to [email protected]. Please put Scout Correspondent in the Subject Line. By submitting this email to us, you agree to allow us to contact you in connection with Star Wars Galaxies and agree that all correspondence with and material submitted to SOE will be the exclusive property of SOE and SOE may use such materials without limitation and in its sole discretion.
After we have reviewed the submissions, we will pick one person to be our correspondent. We will set them up with a special community title here on the forums and ask them to help highlight for us the relevant issues relating to this profession.
We will still continue to monitor the forums and read as many threads as we can. The correspondent is just to help us focus on the top issues and community concerns of the profession.

We already had another thread on the correspondents stepping down. This one was needed to show people where to send the applications into. No need to reply to it.

Yes I know that there is another thread where DeltaXi65 announc that he is steping down. However in just about every forum I read on a regular basis the cor's stepping down thread is used to say thanks for his/her work, and make jokes about Blue Glowie isle. Where Tiggs thread is used to announce new candidacy, and jokes about Blue Glowie isle.

Well, this is the first time the Scout's have had to go through with this, so they may not know exactly what the proper ettiquette is.

Well the proper ettiquite for it with you would be to have a lot of Dread/Axis members come on and 1 star everything you have written and tell you how much you well you know. Then we would all 1 star the person into oblivion and return you back to your 3 star status that means nothing to a future blue glowie. This would degrade into something about RiceBalls or Beer or doing both at the same time. Soon someone would say the word "macro" and JB would wake up from him cold dark place and start tearing them apart.
Then a second thread would start up about monkey making (i dont know about you but i never thought Bubbles was cute enough for that). Then Paks would come in and make some comment that would make us all cringe back for being little boys but would be followed by something sexist thrown back at her.
Yeah thats how we would do it here. It won't be the same without you as the correspondent Brisc. But then we said that about Calc and Nraas and we are adapting to our new leaders. Just don't do the Nraas disappearing trick. Without you the bloodfin forums would be closed for lack of use.

You know i see Heat in the forums but never anyone with that tag in game. Who the heck are they?
Wait this has NOTHING to do with the scout forum or you leaving. So i guess i'll ask that over there

And I'm still waiting for the party to start. You can't have initiation hazing and not have some killer goodbye bash right? I thought Haikai was supposed to bribe us all with Rice Balls... I've never been blind before... sounds interesting...

mmmm hmmm....likely story!!!!
At first i assumed it was simply some kind of simian incident.
There were barefooted prints all around the still area as well as several banana peels.
Then i realized that most simians are not accustom to working with explosives....and since there was a20 footradius where everything was scorcedaround the still....thisindicates that explosives were involved.
After a lengthy evaluation i have come to the conclusion that it was Col. Mustard....with the Pipe Wrench in the Study......

Well since no one could replace Delta, we just have to focus onwhichone of theforumregulars thatwould do the best job. Let's look at the major candidates they way I see it, shall we:
1.) JBMat
2.) Hakai
3.) Vorpaks
4.) Phenix
5.) Fodder
JBMat starts out looking like a good choice, experienced, knowledgable, and is not afraid to speak his mind. However, he is also gruff,undiplomatic, and highlyopinionated.There issome possiblitlyof theDevs nerfing us back to the Stone Age, out of spite. So he might not be a front runner, but let's keephim in mind.
Hakaiis also a very commited and knowledgable member of the community. He would certainly be able to keep a better rapport with the Devs than JBMat,so that's a plus for him. However, there might be a fatal flaw.... We would have to getHakai to cut back on his rice balls to keephim lucid enough for the job.So weshall continue on.
Vorpaks also has therequiredbackground in scouting and related professions. She displays the drivenecessary to be a successful correspondent. She also has a lot ofcompassion anda good sense of humor, as evidenced byher putting up with the wild and crazy guys who freqent the Scout and Ranger forums. In fact the only negative I can really think is that she spends so much time in the Ranger forumthat she might find it difficult to "lower herself" to be the correspondent tothe "mere Scouts".
Phenix, shown his that he is a dedicated and thoughtful defender of the Scout and Ranger professions in numerous posts all throught the forums. Where ever there professions trying to take our abilities, he'll be there. Where ever there are cries for nerfs, he has already debunked them. Whenever people just don't understand and value what we do he's all over it. Alas, as above elitism might rear its ugly head...
Oh, Fodder? Er, em, huh.... Well I wanted another name to round out the list, so....

In case you haven't guessed by nowsome above the asterisksis written with tongue in cheek. Seriously though, I would support any one of themas our new correspondent.
