Thread: Petition for Foraging to give Survival XP
This can't be too hard to do, and it's so needed. Getting survival from sitting in camps is the most absolute boring thing I've ever done. I was actually having my guy sit in camps while I played games in the Xbox just to get survival XP. How sad is that? Are there any other professions that have to just sit idle to gain XP?
All they need to do is give some XP gain from foraging. Maybe 10 to 50xp depending on how good an item is that you foraged. Put a 30 second to 1 minute timer on reforaging, and maybe lower the XP gain from camping if needed so you can't power advance your way through survival too quickly, and you got a much better way to gain survival XP just from an entertainment stand point. I'm always interested in what items I've managed to dig up when I forage so I use it now even though I don't get any XP for it just to see what kind of things I can dig up out of the ground. Why not give a little XP for this to make our lives a little more entertaining?
So who's with me! lol.

A Ranger wanna be who's frustrated by the fact that I could have almost mastered Creature Handling by now if I chose to, but I'm struggling to get past the third rank in Survival.

while reading these boards,i have to agree this is extremely boring
but i guess ill stick it out.i only need about 10000 more survival exp hehe.

Hear hear!
Camping is dull and annoying! Forgaing is interesting and unrewarding!
De-nerf wilderness wilderness survival xp!
I completely agree. There should be some way to gain survival xp other than camping. Your solution using foraging fits quite nicely within the framework of the game and makes sense.
Questions: Is this the best place to post this?Is there a forum for game suggestions?
In anycase, good idea, and good post.
I'd love it if foraging gave Survival XP (or some kind of experience -- scouting maybe??), but think of any possible abuse as well.
Many classeshave some sort of skill that they can AFK macro script (/sample, /dance, etc). Currently Scouts don't have much. You cancertainlylay down a camp and run away, but since there's no command (to my knowledge) to disband it and lay down a new one, it's a one shot deal for 800-900 expmax. That's not a long term balacing problem.
If we could AFK macro /forage, there is possible abuse that could occur. While the general consensus seems to be that AFK macroing is allowed, I suspect that any means of gaining exp too rapidly overtime with no work is bound to be changed.
I "accidentally" ended up getting Survival III before any of my level 2 blocks in scout, just by travelling with a few folks very early on and plopping down camps. 3-4 people cap out camps very fast, plus more people means more healing and music.
Try travelling with high level folks too. Unless a Master Scout is going for Ranger he doesn't need Survival XP anymore. I know I always let others lay down a camp now unless I'm the only one who can.

I agree completely- sampling gives survey experience to artisans -- why doesn't /forage and /medicalforage give XP to scouts/medics? Getting one item per forage (if you're lucky) v. getting 4-7 items per sample - Medics and Scouts are getting screwed on this one.

Anything would be nice. I don't bother using it since I have no need for the small amount of stuff I get from it.
does anyone eat or sell the stuff they forage? i havent seen to much of it on the bazaars. as for eating, i eat it when im hungry, but i dont take advantage of the modifiers it gives you to your pools. i guess i should look through all the stuff and figure out what modifiers it gives and start using them before fights. sometimes its nice to have a few extra pool points. i cant tell you how many times ive gotten incapped because i needed 10 more action points, or health points.
they could be a powerful weapon in the scout arsenal, theres just so much in this game to learn and figure out and remember that i cant be bothered with this right now.
