Thread: Is scout blaster really still the best pistol at pistol specialist?

I've been using a scout blaster since I was able to - since then I've qualified for Striker, Power5, SR Combat, Tangle, and FWG5 pistols. As near as I can tell, the scout blaster is still better than any of them - its average damage seems higher, and its special move costs are lower or the same. Is there some other reason the other pistols are better? Are there any better pistols to look forward to at all? Or is scout blaster pretty much the pistol of choice forever?

My guess is that since the newer ones are just starting to be made they have not perfected how to get the good stats yet. Same thing happend with the Scout early on.

I have tried to buy a newer one on the bazaar but they are overpriced for a weapon that is the equivelant as its predecessor (the Scout Pistol). I would guess in a bit of time they will get better.

i thought so too....until i found a DH17 that does 50-67 dmg with a 3.8 spd. the speed isnt great but the damage is alot better than my 40-52 scout blaster was.

40-52 on a scout pistol? I have a scout pistol thats 57-103..2.9 speed non sliced. You REALLY need to look at getting a better weapon.

i looked all over the galaxy at bazaars and didnt find ONE SB better than mine. every weaponsmithive tried had crappy pistols as well.

although the other night i found one on naboo that had some great stuff ive never seen before, but really pricey.

Scout Blaster?? P'shaw I say.

I have a D-17 pistol... yes, pistol.
60-94 damage 2.8 speed. Prone and kneeling, it will rapid fire like a carbine.
I don't know the HAM costs for firing but they aren't bad at all.
I commonly throw on a MIN/MAX damage powerup and I commonly hit ranged for 250+.
I swear once I hit something for 407 damage. I should have snapped the screen.. doh.

I haven't found a pistol like it yet.

The question depends greatly on what you look for. Personally - the HAM costs and enhanced minimum damageof the scout blaster make it the premier weapon in my opinion. Have an experienced crafter create one for you.

The key to getting a good weapon - is starting with a really really solid foundation - minus powerups - minus slicing, and then go from there. Also it helps if you get to see all the options available to you. I recommend heading to lok and taking out any set of NPC mobs hang out just outside of NYMS - they are 9000+HAM guys - they are crawling everywhere- and in my experiencesusually drop pistols that are typically not really ready to be produced by crafters yet - theobject of this would befor you to examine and get an rough idea of the offensive prowess of said weapon (or just surf the net for info).I woudnt recommend running around with looted weapons - save a tusken rifle early in the rifle tree Before you drop mad change on a piece - have a look around.

Elru's MOB Info:

On the note of high level npc mobs - on dantooine - near the island just outside of town (the one with the pillars) - there are two static spawn bothans swimming and frolicking about (Have been since beta too). Dont even bother with them. You would assume that with the 80% across the board resistance, and an the armor rating of 2, they would give mad XP/loot. They do not. I picked one off yesterday and shot it for roughly 30 minutes (and all i got for my trouble was a **edit** jar of bait)- doing 9 - 12 damage + 250DOT(mobs were15000+ HAM.) Ill head back after eyeshot - and perhaps update - but i cant imagine the outcome to be any different (unless eyeshot really cranks up the amt of damage done given the resistances). BTW - if they get in close youWILL die nqa (no questions asked). The tribesman bothanwould get off one hitter quitters on mydroid for upwards of 2000 HAM. The guy is an axe murderer basically.

BTW - the NPC MOBS on dantooine also have the eyeshot capability + other really high lvl attacks (one hitter quitters). They also gank. DO NOT TRY ALONE! (minus bot/pet/20grp)

Anyone else finding bodyshot2 less useful with a really good scout blaster? It seems I get 80% of the damage of bodyshot2 with regular attacks and don't need to worry about the pool cost.

A few comments

First, you will NOT find premium weapons on the Bazaar you need to buy from a player, Like Enott or NoTiG etc.

Right now the best pistol is the scout, mine is 1.9 spd and 67-144 dmg, sliced (thanks Fidav). The action cost for special shots is far better then with say a FWG5. I am waiting to see if a master weaponsmith can improve on a power5 or fwg5. The fwg5 has a much higher wound chance, i.e. critical hits then the scout, but it has a slower rate of fire and almost double the cost in action points for a special move.

I find that Bodyshot2 slows down my shooting just enough that I am better off to skip this move with my super pistol...that said the point blank range move with this thing is devastating

I picked up a FWG5 with damage of 30-130, speed of 3.11 and wound chance of 11. I've seen damage from 290 - 340 with bodyshot 2. It also makes a big difference to healthshot, most mobs bleed for a 260 point loss. with bodyshot2, warningshot, and healthshot, most mobs don't even touch me! Great gun!

The special moves actually cost less then my old scout blaster. Bodyshot 2 cost me 45 points. My old scout used to cost me 75.

The gun was created by Reldurpa of Kor Vella, Corellia, Flurry.

He is an amazing gunsmith. He also puts out a very high quality scout blaster if your on Flurry. Can't remember the stats but max damage was well over 100, and speed was under 3. I'll be picking one up after I sell some resources!

well the FWG5 is 33% slower then my scout, has a much smaller min dmg 30 versus my 67, and has a lower max damage, 130 versus 144. Factor in my rate of firs at 1.9 and action cost of only 23 points and you should dump the fwg5

Well when someone makes a scout Blaster that good on my server I will.

Nerfburger, His Scout Blaster was sliced so thats why it has the additional capabilities. Your right Reldurpa makes a really great weapon and I,m saving up for an FWG5 like you have. Take your Blaster to a slicer and he can really buff it for you but keep in mind that it wont last as long as one thats unsliced.
