Well, I did it. Friday evening I finished my exp, and then Saturday I hooked up with another scout in my PA and got my training. So it's official - there's a new Master Scout on Chilastra

I took Novice Ranger, but I probably won't go any further than that. I plan to work my way through the CH trees, and as much Pistoleer as I can spare points for. I was actually working onsmuggler skills until I hit Master Scout, and decided to turn my career path in a different direction. Smuggler just wasn't turning out to be as much fun as I'd thought it would be.

Hi everyone.

Just hit Master Scout a while (like 2 hours) so I thought I'd share my experiences with everyone.

Scouting to me was a rather simple profession to master, and through reading the various posts on this board, I found that many people had various difficulties. To me survival xp was the toughest of all, because it involved grinding out camps. I had already mastered Marksman and Medic, and I never left Tatooine, mostly shuttling around Anchorhead and Kraytia.

Hunting and Exploring

For the 4 skill trees, the first and the third trees (hunting and exploring) were the easiest by far. All I had to do was to join a party and head over to the squill caves. Don't expect to harvest much, but for every successful harvest of 1(!) squill meat (or something like that) i received close to 500 scouting points. Anyone will zoom up the scouting trees with xp to spare, and i maxed that out within a couple of days.

Trapping

For Trapping, i followed Brisc's guide and it works. When you're starting out, stay in Anchorhead and roam around, shooting kreetles and the like. The first two skill levels are easy to get, but the moment you have two extra trap schematics, use them and start lobbing multiple traps. When you hit Trapping III, go to Kraytia and start shooting dragonnets, banthas, and giant sand beetles. I lobbed off 8 traps at one go (when i was on trapping iii and iv) and each dragonnet netted me close to 1500 trapping points (268 per trap x 8 taking into consideration trap failures). Of course i died once or twice (dragonnets death-blow, **edit** them) but considering the amount of xp i was getting, it wasa riski was willing to take. Mission accomplished in about three hours.

Survival

For Survival (aha!), i expect many flames to come my way because i found it easy. And i didn't need a macro or something like that. For the first two skill levels, all i did was craft single camps when i went squill hunting. At that time, there was another scout there as well, but we didn't quibble over the setting of a camp so most times I was able to doit. For the third level, I was camping around kraytia. Everyone there needs camps because ever so often, there will be a few dummies (me included) that think we can take on Krayts and we mostly get our noses and posteriors bloodied in the process. Camps needed to heal. All in all levels one to three took me two days.

Level 4 of Survival just requires patience, resources and one and a half hours of concentration (and even that i think it is overmuch). What i did was to grab a couple of tons of hide and bone, and divide my time intofifteen minute slots. Even taking into consideration the dreaded "critical failure" of the crafting (the term escapes me now), in fifteen minutes, just by sitting in camp and crafting with 2 crafting kits, I managed to get a whopping 4000 xp in 15 minutes. All i did was move the two kits to my toolbar, and alternate between clicking and hitting the "enter" key. I also conserved space by keeping it in practice mode. And all the previous trap crafting also added to the survival xp.

There you have it, I mastered scout in 4 days. And there are added perks as well. Harvesting brought me a lot of money, and when i needed to craft for survival, i found i did not need to spend a cent on resources. And through shuttling from AH to Kraytia, my travel costs were also minimised.

Thank you so much Delta, even though you are a "stinking" Imperial your posts and ohmigod your guide has helped tremendously. And to all the posters here who have contributed as well, thanks for the advice. I will be keeping Scout for a long time, and am now moving on to Bounty Hunter. If anyone is on Chilastra, send me a /tell. I will be glad to talk to you and to go on hunting trips and expeditions.(I still recommend Krayt Dragons. No thrill compares to that.)

May the Force be with all of you

Craig,

Congratulations! Welcome to the Master Scout club.

I was wracking my brain as to what jobs I can hand out to the newer Master Scouts, because hey - now that my sock drawer is all good, I'm a happy scout. Then I realized the one thing that we didn't have and that we ABSOLUTELY NEED - BBQ PITS! I want to be able to grab a Kaadu, slap him on the butt and roast him for dinner. So get out back, and get digging. And you better make it big enough so I can get my Krayt meat on the spit, got it?

BHing huh - well, I guess even the best people... Good luck with investigations!

Gratz,
I also got Master Scout last night on Chilastra. This was a goal when I started the game. Next goal is Master Ranger.

BBQ Pit...I like that, now get a master Chief to make me some good BBQ-sauce then I'll be set.

Also is there a Ranger PA? (Like Antrian Ranger PA?) on Chilastra?

Happy camping and good hunting!

Actually, it be cool in Master Scout level or Ranger camps if...there was a food device (i.e. BBQ pit) that one could put in a qty of harvested meat then would it will output a food product that would provide a buff. This would add something to Scout / Ranger camps.
Hay Devs you getting this?

Thanks and good hunting.

Master Chief, hehe.

That reminds me of that snickers commercial where the guy spends all day painting the football field for the Kansas City Chiefs but he spells it C-H-E-F-S, and the player walks up and asks him "who are the Chefs?"

Congratz!

I mastered scout too. Yesterday, on Flurry server. It wasn't diffiuclt to complete the boxes, but the 620 AP are boring ...

Now I'd like to try some harvest to see how much can I take from mobs ...
