Thread: Trapping xp problems please post your experiences
Ok, I just hit master scout after dropping my last toon who was lvl 80. Trapping IV took me hours to get since it's hard to find many people around my level, or any at all for that matter than have any clue on how to group hunt. So I soloed all the way to trapping IV. I'm now Novice Carbineer, Pistoleer 0100, Master Scout, Medic 0010,Entertainer 0303 *inspiration buffs wherever I go are nice*, and marksman 0444. I'm CL 21, and anything around your level at trapping III should let you trap up to lvl 20 critters with little to no problem. I did notice that if you throw multiple traps that have no states on them, such as the Glow Juice trap and Stink Bomb trap, that they will continue to land and even if you're shooting/beating on the mob to kill it, you'll get more trapping xp. With 5 Glow Juice and about 4 other traps laid on a lvl 19 Tattered Torton I was getting roughly 800-1k trapping xp depending on how much healing I had to do. Sure they were two levels lower than me, but it wasn't too difficult... with spices and armor.

1. What level trapping were you? I currently am Scout 4044.
2. What was your combat level? CL 23
3. What was the combat level of the creature you were fighting? CL's 8, 13, 14, 17, 19, 20, 25, 79, 80, 81, and 82
4. What kind of trap were you using? Wire Mesh and Lecapamine
I get 28-32 Trapping XP against the CL 14 Shauputs and approx. CL17 Peko's (not sure of type). I hit about 50% against these.
I get 0 XP 100% of the time when fighting CL13 and below...or above CL17. Against CL17 Veermoks, I miss 100% of the time.
I've spent2+ hours trapping so far...and have 132 XP to show for it. No Ranger Novice for me I guess...and I'm maxed on Scout XP.

a trap is based on your trapping skill vs the level of the target. If
you hit, XP is then (currently) granted based on your combat level
vs the level of the target. This is in error. XP should be granted on a
successful hit based on the level of the target, regardless of your
combat level. This will be fixed in publish 20.
- Blixtev fixed the bugged traps for pub 20, I believe.

While they are working on levels and XP could we get someone to look at the narrow range of creatures that grant XP? Could we stretch out that range from 10 levels below the character's level to maybe 30 or 40 levels so that we get some XP (even a greatly reduced amount) from creatures that may be several levels below us but still take a while to kill? (especially when they are in groups)

I'd like to see the xp change on TC first and then evaluate further action from there.

Only problem is that since you're giving us all this info, we're going to start sacrificing thousands of pairs of Hawtpants to you, and start carving your effigy into animal corpses. You know, all that sort of fun stuff that's totally normal. for Rangers.
