I feel no pain, and I'm 10k away from Survival IV. I've used groups in beta, but they really aren't very fun right now. Groups have always been disastrous, so I've been solo almost exclusively since launch.

LOL, it is funny what one person finds to bea tideous grind someone else finds fun. I guess that's what great about this game. Personally Ilike setting up camps and enjoying the scenery. Sitting out there and talking to the random visitor running for his life or just looking for a place to their feet up fora few minutes. Scouting xps which require me to kill and harvest on the other hand or going to take me forever to advance in . Anyway all I can say is find a good killing field setup camp and invite one and all and remember the chairs are for the guest the floor is fine for us Scouts .

What's with you guys sitting for 10 straight hours making camps and camping??! Jeez... I've been playing since sunrunner came up and I'm a novice ranger... I never once made a camp unless I needed it. Just play the game and don't focus solely on one single skill line to devote your whole day to. Whenever I get killed I go to the cantina and heal battle fatigue, go get corpse and then set up a camp. If you wan't good survival xp NEVER heal your wounds at a medical center. Just go out to the wilds, set up a camp and heal all of your wounds there. It takes almost an hour,(if you still have all your wounds from getting killed),and you'll go through about 2-5 camps depending on what camps you can build. This is how I gained the bulk of my survival exp and it only took as many days as sunrunner has been up to get to novice ranger. It's not nearly as monotinous if you do several different things in one game session rather than sit and do only one thing....

The other problem is, I have no idea where there would be a high concentration of players fighting out in the field... in most other mmorpgs, I could run off to a popular dungeon and heal like crazy, but it seems totally random in this game. Are there any 'choice' spots where lots of players regularly hunt?

I can just see it now... aggressive camping! Look, there's a huge battle going on! *I burst-run over and throw down a camp in the middle of the battle*. All ofa sudden, there's 20 camps up within a 20m radius right in the middle of a battlefield. I like the idea of finding AFK surveyors... might have to go hunting for them and force-camp! mwuahaha

Does anyone know the time-limit vs. experience caps for camps?

**snicker** That would be hilarious... Or better yet - give rangers the ability to set up 'stealth camps'. Find a big group, sneak up on em and set up camp. Then they're trapped until they heal a certain amount of wounds or give your survival exp a big enough boost. Heh.

You're making a joke, Aetherium, but some people actually do just what you are talking about. Sad but true, but there are "powercampers" out there who will follow a group mercilessly placing camps in their path for the xp.

Oh no, and I believe it! I might start doing it myself 'cause I can't seem to scrounge the xp, but I think I'll try spamming the chat channel in town with 'Looking for medics and surveyors to get camp xp!!' first... if that doesn't work, the hunt is on! All your camp are belong to us.

*crafts a multi-person camp trap and throws it at the 6-person group, forcing them to stay in-camp for hours*

wow... I didn't think camping XP was that hard to gain myself!!! Just plan on working on your XP while you have something to do IRL!

I had a number of things to take care of last sunday afternoon... I surveyed around for some good steel... set up a camp and started mining steel in my camp... every 15 minutes or so... disband the camp (for 400-600xp) move a little bit away and start over again.

at the end of a couple of hours, I had gained a TON of camping XP and over 1000 good quality steel... I would agree with a lot of people in saying this isn't fun... I would not of enjoyed doing this with 100% of my focus on the game for 2-3 hours... but it WAS fun to play with all those minerals and the added Camping XP later!

So I suggest to all of you campers out there.. pick up novice artisian even if you aren't planning on working the skill up... you can mine resources to sell while you're working up your Camping xp!!

I just poke in here every once in a while, and I can't believe you scouts haven't brought this one up.

I have about 3/4 of the xp needed for survival 4 and cannot understand what the problem is here. I have never liked grinding xp and so far i haven't done that in SWG. I can't speak for any other professions but it seems to me that scouts use all of their skills naturally and the xp rolls in without me noticing it.

I agree with you Raptor

I just played the survival tree very casually, I camped only when Ineeded to (which was quite often mind you)

I just made sure I always got the max XP from it.

I am now a Master Scout and Survival 4 was my last box to fill, that was the ONLY time I really noticed camping suked. I needed like 4000xp more in Surv 4 for Master so it really was painful getting it. But it was only 5 camps away, at 800 xp a pop, took me like 2 and a half to 3 hours (alone and unwounded)

I just would set up a tent then go do some housework or eat, etc.
