Thread: Please welcome our new Scout Correspondent!
Congrats and welcome Delta in your new community position. I for one agree with your list off current issues that need to be resolved. As a ranger I would like very much for most of these bugs to go away. However I think there are a couple more items that need mentioning - if you could note them for future consideration.
1. Looting. As in EQ, it would be a benefit if you could provide a tell (chat message) to all members of a group of what is looted by whom when looting. For example: "player x loots a item x from creature x". This would help due away with the large number of arguements over who has looted what in a group. Balance is a virtue in any game - especially when it comes to divying up the loot at the end of good night of hunting.
2. Tracking. Rangers usually have an inate ability to "track" creatures. In EQ they have this ability and even so much as to "track" with filtering levels of those creatures. This should be mentioned to the Dev team as a VERY IMPORTANT request for those planning working up to Master Ranger.
Thanks for the ear,

Welcome Brisc!
I believe you've covered the most important issues to us atm. Thanks!
>I think one of the major issues for scouts is no-build zones and camps. It is very frustrating to be out hunting and not be able to put a camp down because you are in a no-build zones.
Just started my scout last night and was trying out all my skills on naboo. When it got to be time to test this one out I had to go a very good distance to find a place to camp. From the newb perspective it was frustrating on the bright side it was a good killing area. Now if only I can find the supplies to make replacement traps and camp kits.
On item 5 I like the suggestion of scoutmissions but also the inclusion of scouting experience into faction missions would seem feasible and in charachterlong term. I'm always up for new ways to learn.

Welcome. Welcome. A correspondent is a fantastic idea.
My two cents on your list items: I think having other ways to get experience as a Scout is a great idea. I believe, however, that if there are more ways to get experience, the points given -- overall -- should be less. There are already so many experienced scouts, novice rangers (even masters) walking around, and the game is in its infancy! I am encouraged by the possiblity of having more to do and reasons to do them, but I hope it doesn't lead to an environment full of Masters who spent only a few weeks getting there. Perhaps what we will eventually need (or want) will be extended or additional skill trees that allow us to follow even more unique, and challenging paths.
Easier said than done, good luck finding a group of over 2 people where no one else wants to harvest. I have an idea to solve the economic problem from the flood of resources....increase the amount of resources used tp produce items....very simple. I mean, we make camps out of a bone and a skinned cat? come on now.... /wink
Anyway, glad to hear this is being addressed, but I really think it should be a top priority, grouping is really more of a headache than fun right now. And the BE's definitely need some lovin', our whole profession is bugged!!
Eye,
I never propose anything to you all without having done it myself. I have frequently been in groups where we have traded off Scout XP. All you need to do is ask what everyone is looking for in the group, and determine who needs what XP. Conversation is the answer.
Soon, you'll find a group of friends to hang out with and they'll automatically know what you are looking for. One of them will need combat XP, another Scout, another Pistol. You work together to get what you need.
While you can be a loner as a Scout, once you hit Master it's almost impossible to level quickly without the help of a group or friends, which is an important point I'm going to talk about in my Ranger guide.
I don't know all of the issues with the BE's, but I do know that your correspondent is working hard to get your issues addressed. Pop over there and say hi!

Ok, I have an idea of what should go to the TOP of the list of issues and should be fixed immediately! I'd love to see if other Scouts agree.....
We needd to be able to have more than 1 scout harvest a corpse, period!
This is a game that needs groups in order to advance and fight challenging creatures, groups are useless if everyone is ninja harvesting, sadly they do no matter what ground rules are set at the beginning. Please make this priority #1, I am tired of hunting weak mobs inorder to get my scout xp up, it would be nice to take on squills in group and have 3 people harvest hide, bone, and meat respectivley. I'd like meat (bioengineer)....
Please address this as top priority, the others are great too but this is ruining the group aspect of the game, I now refuse to group if I have any need of harvesting at all...believe i can macro and ninja too but i wont do that and no one else should either...if this is fixed then the problem is solved. it should be avery easy fix too.
Eye,
The Devs are working on a fix for this problem. Read some of my other posts here. We will know more about it once the current update hits the live servers.
There are some economic concerns with ending the 1-kill-1-harvest problem that they are discussion, but I believe that the Scout dev has come up with a solution that benefits everyone. I won't go into it now, because its still tentative and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, nor do I want to start an argument on things thatmay never happen.
So trust me - we all recognize that this is a major problem, and we're working on it.
In the meantime, trying finding groups where you can switch off the harvesting or where no one else needs the Scout XP. Frequently I find myself giving someone all of the harvests if I can get all of the camps, or vice versa. That usually is amenable to everyone involved - and I always get compliments on my good leadership. Most of your grouping issues can be easily solved by simply having a leader who is willing to take command.

Sky,
That's just because I'd rather be talking to ya'll then working. And it helps that Congress is out of session now. ![]()
