If you plan on using Marksman skills (or brawler for that matter), Just use the traps as a debuff on your opponent. Hit it with wire mesh and go beat it to death. It will take a while to get level 4 trapping throwing one or 2 traps per fight, but then there is no real rush anyhow. Spamming traps is a slight exploit, in that you are trying to get around the natural level progression by pointlessly throwing away traps. If you work on 2 or 3 trees at once there is no need to spam. I have found that the traps actually advance a little faster than my firearms skills, as I am already at traps 4, while i don't have my specialization yet.

trapping 101-

find a kiteable mob like a tabage

make 2 types of traps that affects different ham bars(noise maker, lecaphine)

throw one trap to begin combat and affect 1 ham bar

throw the other trap to affect the other ham bar

you get trap xp for both

dont run away like a chicken scout

lead the animal like its a kite on a string

when affect wears off throw both again...double xp

90 xp twice =180 per toss

since traps dont kill load up a toolbar or 2 with traps and youll max xp by tonight

i would use double toolbar worth of traps on 1 tabage

when traps run out pop it with weapon of choice, camp, remake traps

i maxed trapping in a few hours this way

if you get the hang of it try to kite more than 1 creature at a time. the max i had was 7

sorry should have been more clear there...

if you use one type of trap that affects mind, you can't throw a second trap until the first wears off

however if you use 1 trap for mind andit hits, you can immediately throw the action trap without waiting for the first to wear off so its twice the xp in the same amount of time as using only 1 type of trap

not sure if thats clearer but i hope so....
