One method I found is to create a whole bunch of traps.. ones that don't damage the creature. the glow trap is good for this.

I load up one of the rows of my Tool bar with all the traps I just created.

Then I go and find a realitvely weak creature.. Like a durni for example.

Start spamming it with the traps. Since each toolbar slot holds 5 traps I will hit the 1 slot 5 times, then the 2 slot ect..

Just stand there throwing traps. It will take awhile for the creature to get your health down , You can either stop loading traps to throw when your health gets low and then kill the creature or after the creature incapacitates you , just wait for the timer. Create a campsite, heal and repeate.

While I discovered this method, I don't really use it since I don't use traps that much as it is.

When I try and trap a greater desert womp-rat all I ever do is miss the target.... =( ends up getting me killed in the end and it is no fun to miss with 10 traps in a row... Is there something that I am doing wrong or am I just un-lucky as hell?

I have Level 2 traps and I've found a method that for now gets me close to 150xp every time I use it.And I don't feel it's an exploit.

I hunt Paralopes on Talus. Make many lacropine darts, bone spurs or spike (whatever its called), and Glow-juice trap. In no certain order throw all 3 at a paralope. Each one gives me 49xp each.

The beauty of this is, by now he has almost no action points left. I then take 1 shot to finish them off giving me weapon xp and then I harvest to get scout XP. I almost never take damage unless they reach me in the time it takes to throw 3 traps.

Spacehero -- Kima are like most otheranimals not set to a stationary point, I've found them round both cities but a fair way out. Normally I take Missions from D which are a long way out and 9 times out of10 I find some on the way out or back. I tried waypointing them but they disspear fairly quickly if you are not around.

Traps never miss. They either affect the target or not, is that what you meant weezy?

Traps do indeed miss, I miss 1 in 9 "the trap misses the target"

And they also fail to effect the target. Right now I am on corusent in the town almost center of the map by the same name i believe. I run due north for about 900 meters and I found some creatures that are like the slowest things I've ever seen. So slow that they seem to be running in slow motion. Tuburas, when my traps do hit I am getting 90 exp per trap and because they move so slow I get 5-6 traps off. then I have my pet droid go in and kill it, and i get 90 scout exp so I get 450-540 exp per creature and there are usualy 10-15 of them floating around. in like 10 min I went from no trap exp to halfway to lvl 3.

Another fun thing is to toss a trap at a creature, then lead it into a pack of carnivores. The carnivores will keep it busy while you just toss various traps at it. Then, when it's dead, you get the scouting xp too.

PS: I was getting 300 trapping XP from tossing traps at Bolle Bols. Unfortunately, most of the time they caught me and stomped me silly.

This reallyisn't necessary. Just hunt as normal, but throw a trap at the top of each combat. I advanced to Trapper well before any of my other skills (there rest of which are only part-way through 4th-level).

I never really put much thought into my trapping XP and always underestimated how good they are. Once i hit trapping 2 i woke up to their power. From then i have used my traps on everything i hunt. In a week of just normal hunting and using my traps I have hit trapping 4 with an extra 30K trapping XP ready for once i hit ranger. It's just one of those skills that looks after itself if you just use it as you go along.
