Hoo boy, i go away for awhile(accursed piece of junk router!)and this thread goes to pot... Bald Wookie's??!! How bored have you guys been of late? Anyway getting back to the main point of the post, mainly help for me, I have a few more questions as due to some Snow days() I have managed to work up both the Hunting and Exploration line and am now a Novice CH. This seems like an incredibly fun line and I've so far enojoyed every moment of it.
However the thoughts of a Ranger draw me as well, im really close to leveling both trapping and camping, respectively and as im not sure how the career "points" work, i have a question. Will I be able to actually afford Ranger? Im wanting to be a CH/Ranger with the ability to hunt my prey and tame it too, is that doable? Also the professions i have right now are marksman(working toward the rifleman tree)scout, and CH. Will i have enough points to go elite in all my 3 professions, CH, Ranger, and Rifleman, or will i have to lose some points on the side?
Also if i dont have to lose any said points, has anyone here ever been both a CH/Ranger and has it worked out for you? Im really curious about that and wouldwelcome any input whatsoever.
P.S. Again, what on earth brought up the Bald wookie comments?!
In terms of CH/Ranger combo- I never did this; indeed, it's been a long time since I've played a Ranger, but being a Vet I can offer a little insight (ok, a history lesson) here.
A year and a few months ago, before the CH Nerf, a ton of people were CH. I was a Ranger/ Rifleman at the time but it seemed like everyone I knew had part of CH. There were a few Ranger/ CH, which compliment each other because it allowed the CH to track baby animals and find the ideal creatures easily.
Nowadays, there are few CHs left (from my observations, at least) and most tend to use Bio Engineered pets for maximum ability, making the tracking ability less crucial. Now, a quick disclaimer: I have never played a CH and am not totally familiar with the profession. That said, I am under the impression that as a Ranger/ CH you will be somewhat limited in your combat abilities; you'll be using your creatures as tanks, mainly, and they're not going to do a lot of damage. With no other combat profession, you may have difficulty hunting alone.
Having said all that, I'll just say that I think you should do what you're going to have fun with. Remember, nothing's permanent in this game. If you want to switch a little way into CH, go for it.

pokeman wars? Tell the newish girl about these pokeman wars.
welll, what happened was that in the beginning of Live, CH started to become the favored profession of the game. The reason? with Master CH you could take out pretty much anything that the game could throw at you while you sat back and laughed.
Krayts would tremble at the might of 3 massive creatures of destruction, each one atan insane level +CL 50 if you were a master!!(per person mind you).
many others bought into this as well, since novice CH could allow you to have a fairly powerful "tank" (AKA Rock Beetle) with VERY little cost or offset.
Literally EVERYONE had at least one creature and would pull it out whenever there was a hunt. It was just as useful then as brandy to us is now. However, the issue was that someone could take on a creature VERY disproportionate of their level.
Arock Beetle wasfavored for the fact that i think it had light or medium armorand high defenses against kinetic.
I think i might have fugged up a few parts, so if any of you that know more about the famed "Pokemon wars" would like to post. have at it!
Remember that a Probot with 841 HAM and medium armor and 40% resists was considered to powerful for the non-CH player community to have and was reduced to no armor and 20% resists. The DE's screamed and nothing happened until there revamp many months later.
During the time of the Pokemon Clone Wars you saw either 3 Graul Mauls or3 Bile Drenched Quenkers (9k HAM and light 30% armor to almost all). Because of the size of the Graul's people complained it wasnt Star Warsy and the nerf hammer hit. BUt there was a BIG side effect of the nerf hammer. All creatures became insanely easier to kill. BUt they told us (in october of 2004 mind you) that it would be addressed in the Combat Revamp that was being planned.
