So they dazzled you with beads and trinkets...thats pretty standard.
I am curious though, about the state of this profession, since this one really took it up the arse pretty hard, and with two published devoted to Jedi, well it makes you wonder.

Naw, we're fine. And it takes a lot to dazzle me - I get people trying that crap on me all the time. I'm a lobbyist.
Jedi needed to be first. We're not hurting nearly enough to get a complete revamp. A few small things and we'll be even better than we are now. And the good thing is we've got a lot of support for our issues from the other correspondents. I think we'll see some stuff after JTL and the combat changes.

I appreciate your prompt response.
I don't know why you think Jedi needed to be first. Most people in the game ( outside of Jedi of course - but then they are thinking from within the box), actually are puzzled by the amount of care this profession seems to be getting. Especially since it is a secondary profession and even it it was "broken" the players would still have a primary profession to play - not like many of us who only have the one character to play.
Why do I think Jedi needed to be first? Because hologrinding was destroying the game. And in order to fix hologrinding, they needed to revamp how Jedi worked. Publish 9 was the first part - creating the force sensitive skills, and giving Jedi a reason to play the game that would keep them focusing on each other, the Force Ranking System.
The vast majority of folks in this game, if given the option, would want to play a Jedi. The only thing stopping them was the hologrinding - it was unfair to non-powergamers, and really just plain not fun. Fixing the most wanted profession in the game made sense at the time, and it makes sense now. The Devs knew they wanted to do a large scale combat rebalance and that was put on the schedule after Jedi. Hologrinding first, then Combat.
I agree that scout perhaps isn't broken, but for the most part has been rendered rather ineffective. In the old days camps etc were a somewhat vital element to certain parts of survival etc, just to name a point.
Scout is still completely effective. Our harvesting is what keeps the economy going. We're the base of many professions, and our terrain negotation is still a most wanted skill. There are other things that we want to get taken care of, but every profession has its wish list. Camps need work, and we're working on that. But there is nothing so broken in Scout that we're unplayable.
I am concerned as are others by the fact that the correspondents, seemed to have a good time on the communties dollar ( yes it was our montly fees that helped pay your way there), but at this point apparently signed some type of non disclosure contract about discussing the events with the community.
Sony made the decision that bringing a group of committed, knowledgeable folks who represent their communities was the best way to make sure that when they go through with the Combat Balance they do it the right way. I've got 3 accounts, and I've paid a lot of money into this game too. Would you rather they have ignored community sentiment and just did this balance without asking for our input?
The volume of stuff we went over was massive - too much to be easily disseminated and the Devs want to make sure than when they post the information that we talked about with the balance that it's done correctly. They're working on incorporated the ideas and changes we suggested and you'll get information soon.
We've always operated under a non-disclosure agreement - the Devs tell us what information we can and can't let you guys know, and when we can let you know it. That's to make sure that we don't go releasing ideas or brainstorming. They don't want to make promises they can't keep, and we all know that as soon as they suggest something, people start thinking it's a promise, no matter how many caveats they place on there.
Don't you think that now in essence you are actually working on behalf of the devs and no longer the community? I mean I doubt there is anything so secret that couldn't be shared, and when i hear this " you would have too many questions " crap, it makes little sense either.
Nope. When I see my first paycheck from SOE in my bank account, I'll say that I'm working for the Devs. The Scout community has been and will be my #1 priority until I leave this game.
There isn't anything "so secret" it couldn't be shared. It's going to be shared - just not right now. Artists don't like showing you a work in progress, and the Devs don't either. When they present the plans for the Combat Balance they want them to be clear, concise so that everyone recognizes what's going to happen.
We went over so much stuff that without the Devs posting all of the design docs, there's no way any of us could write it all up and explain it correctly. That's what they're going to do and then you'll see what we went over.
I would hope that we would have more to go on other than you had a great time playing JTL and that the hospitality suite was great.
You will. But it'll be done the right way - and that's not through us posting our recollections. It'll be through the Devs posting the information that we went over in full. And they'll do that as soon as it's ready.
