Your success with trapping things is directly related to your trapping skill.

At trapping II you're not going to be doing too well to trap level 25+ mobs. Probably even at trapping III you'd be hard pressed.

I was trapping CL 10-15 mobs on naboo (gualamas, tusk cats, the occasional giant peko peko just for kicks...) and getting awesome success. At least 3 out of 5 wire mesh traps would hit, and at trapping III I was hitting gualamas almost all the time and tusk cats 4 out of 5 times.

Having a pet helps tremendously.

Could it be the quality of the components? I haven't done a scientific study of it, but I noticed that my traps that are marginally acceptable or acceptable fail more than those that are successes (marginal, good or great). Just a thought.

It seems to me that the better the materials (hide/bone/metal/polymer) tends to make better traps. Using a better crafting tool (I use a +14.62 Weapon, Droid, General Crafting Tool) also seems to give better results. When you get a "Great Success" or "Amazing Success" during crafting you should notice less failures.

If only we could get experimentation on traps to make them fail less and last longer. It would be sweet.

Once I got near the end of my trapping xp I just went out infront of Mos Eisley and constantly threw traps at the newbie mobs. Easy way to get a few thousand xp. Little boring for more amounts though.

I once tried to experiment with using different types of bones and hides to make camps and they all were just as random in regards to failure. Nothing scientific of course just a sort of round robin system I tried for a couple of days.

Now I pretty much just use leathers for traps, avian bones for spikes ,regular bones for housing and my traps fail a lot less then they hit . . .

woolies I sell, scaleys I use when I'm low on leathers. Anyone else have other experiences?

But somedays, man, traps justrefuse tohit home at all, and somedays they can't miss . . .

lets see, experimination dosen't owrk on traps, and trapping xp is a pain in the scout tree. once i hit ranger went out with my pet and tka friend and got 30k trapping xp in 5 minutes, got 5k xp from each creature cause i jsut stood back and threw traps. btw that was on dantooine against slinking voritior hunters (don't mess with them unless you know what your doing). best thing to do be4 you get to master scout or ranger is to jsut keep using traps on small creatures until you get there.
