Thread: Even With Trapping III my traps dont work on big XP creatures
Ever since the last big patch was installed, my trapping efficiency has gone way down. For example, I make a trap to use against a Ronto but when I throw it, it fails. I'm trying to reach Trapping IV but this will take forever because my traps fail so much. I also have a problem whith the fact that when I'm making a trap, the efficiency is 0%. Any of you have this same problem?

I think crafting of traps has problems, since experimentation doesn't seem to do anything either (the 0% efficiency doesn't even change with experimenting).
I'm having the same problem, ever since the patch update the frequency of my traps having no effect is greater than them having effect.

Guys,
Are you throwing every kind of trap you can make at the creatures? Or just one kind?
That does affect whether you hit or not. Spamming Wire Meshes over and over is good for use against a gnort, but that won't cut it with a Ronto, Snorbal or Kimo.
Let me know so I can check this out.

Before I made Trapping IV and Master Scout I couldn't trap tougher creatures at all. Now I can trap just about everything from a fambaa to a narglatch, rarely missing. You'll need to grind on smaller creatures. Trapping is probably the easiest line to powerlevel, since you can throw one of every kind of trap at a single creature. Its probably more efficient to trap lower level creatures because you can let them sit there and hit you while you throw 4-6 traps at them. A fambaa or narglatch will kill you before you get the second trap to hit.

did notice today that traps were more effective against creatures but; stillthe majority of the time it is the same old problem. All my other XP are climbing but Trapping is always way down. On one mission alone I threw 15 different traps and still did not get an abundance of XP.
However to answer your question more directly,i am throwing and experimenting with all my different traps against different creatures and not always throwing the same one a million times at 'em.

Kalan,
Good - that's generally the way to do it.
Also, if you are hitting creatures that don't hit you to hard back, you may want to unequip your weapon, so you can keep throwing the traps and not accidently kill the critter. One other tip.

Thanks for the tip Delta
Here's an update
This a.m. I threw a total of 9 traps at nightspiders. Of the nine traps 5 were effective and 4 were not.
Of the 4 that were not 2 did not even register on the screen.
I would like to ask about XP for traps too. If i keep getting between 39-50 trapping points when i throwit is going to take me a long time to receive lvl3(ya know need 10,000)trapping. I know bigger game gets bigger XP but at lvl2 Scouting you can get incapped(or worse killed)pretty quick taking on largergame. Most of the missions i take our about lvl 8, I tried two lvl12 and got my ass kicked. Fortunately i ran across some people who helped me out.
As a scout thought i do prefer to do my missions alone. I just wish the points were higher for throwing traps, sounds like i'm whining i guess.
Anyway just wanted to give you an idea of what is happening when throwing traps.

On the spider trapping, the 2 traps that you didn't get messaging - what sort of traps were they? Just making sure you know that some traps won't overlap - once the trap hits, you have to wait until the effect wears off?
