Thread: Buying MEAT
Oh and BTW the reason people get so defensive when people ask for certain things is, (I believe) as follows...
When you believe that a certain task has a certain ease, then you in effect are condemming the people who don't fall under the umbrella of your expectations...
or, You are basically attacking my prices or methods, saying in effect,
"Are you nuts? Charging 8-9 credits for meat? I can get it for 2! Harvesting meat is SOOOO easy! What's the deal?"
and I respond by giving you my opinion of the ease or difficulty of accomplishing your task...
Good Luck finding what you need...
A couple of more things,
Not an exact quote, but something like this, "if organics go for 3 cpu, then what will steel go for? I credit. If you say 3, then I'm gonna be an artisan and get rich."
Are
Thanyou everyone for your posts, but Im going to end my contributions to this thread here. I didn't mean to offend anyone or make someones job seem too easy. Meat is hard to get, I will give you that but I will only pay 3 cr per for herb meat and 2 cr per for any other meat when I dont care about planet specifics of stat specifics. Otherwise, I'll just harvest it myself. Fortunatly on Scylla, its not hard to find large quantities of meat on the bazaar for 2 cr per, IF you dont care about the stats. Which I don't.
Next, if you scouts do want to make more money harvest the meat. Pet stims are heavy on meat. Pet stim C needs insect meat and pet stim d needs fish (I dont even want to know how I'll get that, I dont think I will make pet stim d's because fish IS impossible. Atleast for me, I still haven't caught one.) Something else you all might want to take into consideration is to form a store. Advanced Chem's which is used in almost every stim (the pet stims, and small stims, cm supplies, and I think even enhances) requires HERB meat. If a group of scouts got together you could make a lot of money going on hunts and all harvesting from the same creature. Right now I sell all the resources needed for adv bio's, adv liquids, adv delivery and adv chem minus the meat. Thats where I was hoping all of you would come in. But i guess not, I'll just have to harvest my own meat and my customers will have to do the same. Cause I'm sorry but, to me, the meat is only worth 3 cr per. ( and I must emphasize TO ME part )
Anyways, thats that... good luck and I REALLY hope to see some meat shops up soon, there is cr tobe made.
Ebyb
ps: I sell all the resources for 2 cr per and I sell herb meat for 4 cr per. So I do sell it 2x as high but I'm certainly not going to buy it for 4 and sell it for 4 in my store... I would loose cr on vendor fees, and house maint.

Are you in in the profession to profit? Or, are you a ranger cause you like to be a ranger?
"The majority of us know what it takes to harvest accomplish tasks." The rest of us don't? Don't be so presumptuous; just because some people sell resources for cheap doesn't mean they don't know what it takes to harvest them. Maybe some people aren't so concerned about credits, maybe they just want to provide people with resouces and recover their expenses.
Its not an insult to you or your prices to ask for lower price meat. People understand what it takes to harvest things, give them some credit. Anyone who has ever picked up any scout skills knows it takes time and effort.
I think the whole point is this; if you can get 10 cpu, good job. If Ebyb wants meat for 2pu and someone is willing to sell for that price, good for them. It's afree market, supply and demand dominate. If rangers start setting X price for resouces, there is a word for that, price fixing. I don't think anyone wants that.
1.) I did post on my server board, I also posted on the scout board aswell. I figured since the ranger and scout profession boards are read by everyone from all the servers then I might stand a chance at someone from my server reading the profession boards I didn't think that was atoo unreasonable assumption.
2.) Theres no reason to get upset over the whole thing. I mean I didn't ask for anyone to tell me what they thought of my price or even what they are willing to sell there meat for. I just asked for people who want to sell me herb meat for 3cr per and all other meat for 2 cr per to email me in game... I wasn't even expecting people to reply to this post.
3.) I did some thinking and I'm still pretty sure that 3 cr per is not that unreasonable. I mean since I wasn't asking for specific meat you could just take a mission, kill the creatures and get the meat. That means you can get cr from the mission and sell me the meat plus, you get your own scouting xp, weapon xp, plus combat xp. Compare that to someone who uses a harvester. Pay money for the harvester, pay cr for the maitainance, pay cr for the energy, look for a decent vein, come back in a few days, and when its all said and done, what xp did they get?
4.) It's not like you all are not taking creature missions and harvesting meat... I ask anyone, who tips the doctor when the doctor heals the group? I know I know I know, no one tips you to buy a new gun or powerup but still you get the idea.
5.) How to harvest meat: I dont know why someone would put that post but heres your answer, you kill the creature and you go up top the corpse, click to get the radial and highlight harvest... scroll to meat and there you go. Of course there are ways of using a macro but thats the gest of it.
6.) For reference, if anyone wants to know where the guy got the 908 oq lok meat, its on scylla right now and the snorbols, gurks, and gurnasts drop it. I'd head south east of the Nym's Strong hold.. and hunt the snorbols, THey pop up all around the Stronghold. Just be carefull not to kill too many nym gurks, you might find that the nym gaurds will feel like attacking you.
7.) To all those who got mad or upset at this post:Relax... its just meat on swg.
I have to agree with ebyb on this one. He just advertised (maybe on the wrong board) that he was looking to buy meat for x price. That's the way an economy works. People don't need to jump down his throat for doing so. If you don't want to sell to him for X price, don't. A good is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
Plus, organice resouces should sell for twice the value of harvested resources? Again, I have to agree with ebyb here. Harvester take: 1) money to buy the deed; 2) credits to maintain; 3) power, which takes money to accumulate; and 4) the painful process of finding some place to harvest from that is worth while. Compare scout collected resources. Sure, you have to work for them and not just let a harvester collect them. But, you get all the XP benefits mentioned by ebyb and you get credits for completing creature missions.
I only wish I were playing on a Galaxy where the pricing scheme was so low...
You have to take into account that prices on one Galaxy do not reflect the pricing on all Galaxy.
Meat and other organics on my Galaxy, Corbantis, run nearly 2-3 times the rates of inorganics and that is with inorganics that price around 3-6cpu.
That kinda pricing on resources trickles down and allows our equipment dealers to sell thier wares are enormous prices.
I would prefer and economy that reflects our realworld economy where guns do not cost $20kwhileyou can buy a house for $10k!
Meat should not cost $15 a pound!
Unfortunately, if I wanna survive in the Galaxy I'm on, I have to play by the rules that have been laid down in regards to our economy. I sell my goods for a fair bit cheaper than most people (3-8cpu for meats and hides), but the little bit of undercutting I do is not going to change the whole Galaxies economy...
Sorry for the rambling, incoherent blather... I just have some issues with the way SWG economy works and had to vent.
I agree in pricipal, but good beef will cost 15-20 dollars a pound or more. The best beef in the world is upwards of 100 dollars a pound. And remember cows don't really fight back.
What kinda meat are you buying that cost $100/pound?! Human?! ![]()
You already can. You have 10 lots and you can place harvesters to your hearts content even without artisan skill. Find a place in your travels with a massive number of flora harvesters set up? Plop one down and see what's good in the area. And get rich.

If meat is gonna sell for 3 credits in your world then how much for steel? 1 credit? If you answer 3 as well then screw it I'm gonna go be an artisan and get myself uber harvestors and get rich...

Sorry for the multiple posts, laptop keys flipped out one me. Flynn_Nomad, reading my posts I realize they are written in a tone that I do not mean to present. I am sorry for this. I have nothing against you or your opinion. I just get really worked up about ideas and do not mean it as an attack on you or your ideas. I, also, am done with this thread. To all who can sell their products for whatever price, god bless you.
I took no offense at all and I hope you or anyone else took me wrong either...
I was just trying to highlight how I feel the state of pricing and harvesting is for me.
I just didn't wan't someone expecting certain things, and not getting the opinion of some of the people he was searching for help from.
LOL, 3cpu? OK I sell that stuff when I shoot up the newbi creatures outside of town. There are few creatures that have herb meat, and fewer still with it that low quality. Since you want any meat, I guess that means getting all those newbie creatures, with one hit kills. ![]()
But just so you know, no scout/ranger is going to sell you the high end stuff for that price.
