You can buy my garbage meats for 5c/u, but we're talking herbivore with OQ and PE under 100. Wait, wrong server. If someone's selling you meat that low they are totally naive.

I play on flurry and i have never seen meat selling for less than 5 cu and that is crap meat with oq like 90 or so.
You non-scouts make me laugh so much...
YOU CAN NOT sell harvested organics at the same price as inorganics such as steel!
We don't have harvestors! Don't you understand that?
We can't just plop down a harvestor and go to bed and give you 2k meat when we wake up!
It is work my friend!
We wear out weapons, armor, time and not to mention travel costs for planet specific resources.
It cost me about 9k roundtrip to Endor to get a fellow guild member 1500 units of Endorian wooly hide, and it took me 3 days of casual play, and it was required for me to be in a group, so I had to find a group too. I had to pay 1k to clone too. I obviously didn't charge my guildmate for anything because she hooks me up too (with houses!) so unless you're gonna give me a house for 1500 wooly, lol!
So I spent 10k on 1500 wooly for my friend (I know I could have got a larger quantity, but my groups don't follow me around, I'm forced to hang with them, so we didn't run into a lot of wooly creatures)
So in order to make even 5 cpu and recoup my expenses I would have to charge her 17500 for 1500 wolly hides.
To other Rangers, we should be charging double the CPU of inorganics with equal demand and quality.
IE., very desirable steel with an oq of 900 sells for X, very desirable meat with an OQ of 900 sells for (2)X
Eb,
I'm sure there are some scouts here willing to help, but you may want to bump up your offer a bit. 3 credits per meat is a bit below the current market costs for harvestable materials. 5 credits is the usual bottom now.

LOL, I sell my top quallity meat for 20c / unit all the time! So I guess not hehe

I'm sorry you all but I am a ranger and I know what it takes to harvest meat. But Im also a medic, bio engineer so I need meat for stims and such. Now what happens when you all stiff us doctors, and pet stim makers for meat? Well the price we sell our stims is going to have to go up. I want to keep my prices down so I decided to buy any quality meat, what does that mean? Well, means you dont have to go to endor to get the meat, means you can kill anything along the beaten path and I will buy it. CHEAP, I'll buy it cheap so I can sell the stims cheap. I use a system when I sell my stims, I multiply the cost by two. So if I buy all the needed resources at 2 cr per, I can sell you all pet stim b's (750 heal, 30 charges) for about 500 cr. But if I end up paying 5 cr per resource then I have to charge 1270cr, so whats it going to be? You're price is the basis for my cost.

Sorry chum,
two things. First of all, if you want to buy meat post it on your galaxy forum - most of us are probably not in yours.
secondly, 2c a unit is an impossible price. It's hard to buy anything that cheap, and you are quite unreasonable if you won't pay at least 4c a unit (and that's for realllly bad stuff). Meat should sell for no less than 1.5X, probably closer to 2X. We aren't stiffing doctors, we're trying to make the same living as you. You charge 2X what it costs to make? if we did that, we'd probably charge even more. Try getting a stack of 10-20k of a single kind of meat sometime....alone...
I usually sell poor oq meat for 2-3cr/u. However, I currently have on me a stack of 5k 908OQ lokian herb meat that I will not sell for less than 10cr/u.

Well, go on, explain what it takes...
Having been a Master Artisan and now a soon to be Master Ranger.....I know what it takes to harvest a supply from both ends of the chain. I would say that Rangers have the harder time of it. It is easy to plop a harvester down...and make some credits running missions or have the ability to take care of other in game business as an Artisan or smithy. A Ranger doesnt have that luxury. They hunt and harvest and hunt and harvest. Its time consuming, monotonous, and basically a pain in the you know what. They (Rangers) earn every last credit they charge and if a customer wants the quality and quantity of organics they do....then they must expect the Rangers to be recouped for expenses and their time (or lack of time rather). This is the way a Ranger makes his money. I dont see the armorsmiths lowering their prices, nor any other artisan. They have dollar sign fever and feel their efforts are deserving of that fat bank account.....why should a Ranger be any different or be forced into a poverished lifestyle?
Just my two cents and not bashing anyone...I just dont understand why it is hard to see that there isnt a mad rush of artisans going out to harvest their own organics......because they know it is time consuming and they have better things to do with their time...therefore they must be willing to pay for the luxury of having someone else do the dirty work and save them time and effort.

I have to agree with ebyb on this one. He just advertised (maybe on the wrong board) that he was looking to buy meat for x price. That's the way an economy works. People don't need to jump down his throat for doing so. If you don't want to sell to him for X price, don't. A good is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
We aren't really jumping down his throat that far...(trust me, the level of viciousness on these forums can be a lot greater...)
I think I personally felt the need to defend the profession because I think people expecting certain prices need to be given many different sides of the story so they can understand how things work.
Some people play 12 hours a day and can grab 2k meat a day and not mind selling for 2 or 3 credits.
The majority of us know what it takes to accomplish certain tasks. Notice I used the word MAJORITY.
If someone can find someone to sell meat for 2 credits each then bless their heart and more power to them. But I think those people are few and far between.
The author still failed to address my inorganic V.S. organic pricing scheme, where I point out that it is much easier to drop a harvestor and go to sleep and wake up with 2k steel for example...
If meat is gonna sell for 3 credits in your world then how much for steel? 1 credit? If you answer 3 as well then screw it I'm gonna go be an artisan and get myself uber harvestors and get rich...
Regardless of the numbers you need to figure in effort when establishing prices.
