Thread: Omg... I thought trapping was bad... survival is by far the worst skill to raise, ever.

You could always do something crazy like going out with a group of friends hunting and then in between hunts you can set up tents and have your friends maybe sit in them maybe some docs or medics could heal any wounds that may have happened during the hunt, nevermind the moreI think about it that cant be what tents are for.

Ive read everything ive tried everything, is there not a less mindlessly boring way to raise survival? Therehas to be, this is just plain madness.I sit in my camps into the wee hours of the morning, crafting camps and traps and im only half way to geting survival II. If someone has a faster way of doing this please share, I want to be a bounty hunter not a frigging hermit on the edge of correlia going insane. Ty.

If you can't bear survival XP then don't even think of going Master Bounty Hunter. You don't have what it takes.

Well so far I find that BH missions are much MUCH more pleasant than sitting in a camp. I make money, not great but it is money, I get to explore thedifferent worlds and I get to do what I became a bounty hunter for, assassinate lowlifes and criminals and the like.I qualify for Investigation II but im saving the xp like most BHs do.Yes it gets boring every now and then, but for the most part it is fun,and yes its annoying when my droid or mark is bugged, or my mark spawned in a tree and I cant shoot him.The only reason I hated survival because it involved doing nothing. And thewhole reason Im playing this game is to get away from doing nothing. So yes I do have what it takes to be a master bounty hunter, just not an artisan or ranger.

I camp and craft campkits at the same time, helps speed up the grind, I also run a macro to place down a kit every 30 minutes- it's the trapping that I think is bad.

And yes, the BH grind is tough.

And I'm going for Ranger!

You didn't actually train Inv I did you? You're supposed to save 10K BH XP running Inv0 missions then train Inv I & II at the same time. There is no reason to train Inv I because of the failure rate on the droids at that level. Plus you can get over 1100 BH XP an hour running the simple novice missions.

Sure BH missions aren't bad at first. But, after 70 or so missions of the same thing it's much more tedious than sitting in camps ever was. The only nice thing about BH missions is you don't have to be armored or buffed to do the missions and they can pay pretty good (if you get on a string of non-bugged missions). But, really, besides the 22K in your pocket; its kind of a boring life. You spend 29 minutes and 40 seconds tracking your mark and 20 seconds killing him.

Heck when I did Survival (before carfting traps and camps gave you XP) I would just do that when I couldn't play the game getting XP actively hunting. I'd set up the ironing board infront of the computer and iron; disbanding and rebanding camps every 20 minutes while I got some ironing done.

Future BH aside, I do feel for the chap a bit.

At least when I did my camping XP camps had a use and it didnt feel like a grind at all, out hunting, throwing up camps as we went along to heal, pull pets etc.

Having to do something like that now knowing that once mastered its unlikley that you will make another camp would be a bit fruity on the mind. Indeed I dont think I've made a camp in over 2 odd months.... SWG has a habbit of creating things that then creating something else to remove its need. Seen anyone on a creature mount latley..? Seen a custom painted speeder even..?

Barmy situation indeed....

Although I don't have any creature mounts and don't see them often, I think they are a bit better than bikes. Yes, they are slower than swoops, but they cost no money to maintain. If you are rich, there really is no point in creature mounts, but if you aren't, I would like creature mounts better.

I see one in my datapad everyday. They are useful for Jedi (or other marks) that like to hide in the middle of a pool of water, since you can fire from one while in the water.

But, yeah, other than that they are pretty much useless and more of a novelity item. Everyone, but the devs, saw that coming when vehicles were going live. There was no point to having them when a vehicle was better in everyway.

See what the devs didn't think of was the reason why people in the movies (and real life, for that matter) used mounts in the first place. In ESB they used tuan-tuans because they hadn't adapted their speeders to the cold and it was too dangerous to go out on foot. If they added environmental hazzard hot spots to some planets; that having a creature mount would negate then creature mounts would have remained more useful. Certain areas of Tatooine should give the player wounds for walking on foot (call it heat stroke) or cause faster decay on a vehicle. But, if they rode a bantha there would be no such negative effect. They could have done something like that with steep and mountaneous terrian as well.
