Trapping XP is broken and not working as intended. Success to hit with a trap is based on your trapping skill vs the level of the target. If you hit, XP is then (currently) granted based on your combat level vs the level of the target. This is in error. XP should be granted on a successful hit based on the level of the target, regardless of your combat level. This will be fixed in publish 20.
Wow, glad to hear you are fixing it. I still remember Tiggs listing it in the CU test patch notes as a intended change. She pointed at Scout XP changing to being based on the current "your CL vs. it's CL" system. You might want to make who ever messed that one up stand in the corner for a bit.

I have a level 24 alt that I want to make a ranger, but the trapping xp is darn near impossible. I can't even get the first box filled in at the rate I'm getting xp. Traps absolutely will not stick on anything that cons green for my character so I'm stuck trying to kill 1000 level 1 critters. At 6 units per trap plus combat and travel time that's pretty expensive for a low level box, and that's if they bother to stick.
Please make the trapping xp more like the harvesting xp that is based on the critter's level and not on the player level. I'd be happy grinding out trapping if I could at least get 15-20 per kill on the low levels, it's something at least.

Just a quick one.
People who are having the problem of traps not sticking (not the no XP issue).
Exactly which creatures are you having the problem with?
Pre-CU istr there was a to hit modifier on some creatures that made them hard to trap anyway, but by the time you got to their level you were normally at a higher trapping level anyway and it sort of balanced out.
With the angry bag model for creatures now, is it possible we're getting stuff with high to hit requirements spawning at lower CL's than before?

I've mostly been going after Kadus on Naboo since they are the lowest green conned critters I can try to get xp on. Nothing ever sticks on a green conned critter for me, and grey cons have to be way low to stick reliably. Once in a very rare while I can stick a trap on a level 14 creature, but I need at least level 15 to get more than 1 xp.
