Thread: camping macro
I actually posted something of an answer in the Scout forum the other day ![]()
I'm not much into grinding skills, but there are times when I only have 45 minutes to play, so look to perform tasks that'll help me and my PA at night when I'm on at peak time. I'll craft camps and traps, sample for resources for traps (polymer for Adhesive Mesh for example) and all the while work on Camping.
For pure grind purposes though, I've heard two different approaches. One is for Active play and the other is Passive (or AFK).
Step One for Both
Craft 24 camping kits and fill an entire Toolbar pane with it. Know that toolbar Slot #1 is actually considered slot 00, and that slot 24 (which you hit with Shift-F12), is actually slot 23.
Also know that a camp will automatically go away at 51 minutes, granting XP to the player if they're in it (or 3060 seconds)
Active Camp Macro
Pick an activity: Dance/Music Flourish or Sample
Write a macro like this (example: Flourish)
- /flourish 3; /flourish 4; /pause 8;
- /flourish 3; /flourish 4; /pause 8;
- /flourish 3; /flourish 4; /pause 8;
- .
- .
- .
- /flourish 3; /flourish 4; /pause 8; (as many time as you can do this until you're out of Action points)
- /sit;
- /pause 300; (or as long as you need to regenerate Action pool to full)
- /stand
Note: /sampling gets interrupted by the dialog window that asks if you want to go to some new concentration you've found. Reports from August said that /sit and /stand ignored this window and that /stand; /pause 8; /sample would let you get back to macroing even if the window is waiting for your input. But it's been two months since I've read anything about it.
AFK Camp Macro
- /ui action toolbarSlot00; /pause 3200;
- /ui action toolbarSlot01; /pause 3200;
- /ui action toolbarSlot02; /pause 3200;
- .
- .
- .
- /ui action toolbarSlot23; /pause 3200;
I recommend 3200 seconds just to be on the safe side.
The idea is you just hit this macro, it'll place a camp which you put into one of the toolbar slots, and wait for 53 minutes before trying to place a new one. At the 51 minute mark, the camp goes away. This, too, is not something I've kept up with in awhile though, so it's possible that this has been changed.

If you're actively looking to maximize per-minute XP, then you can grind Camp Kits and Traps for the bit of XP they reward on creation (no system message, but it's granted).
Check here for the full thread:
If you decide to "grind" some Wilderness Survival XP on your own (grouping is definitely faster, and with friends, more fun), and are sampling, dancing or playing music in one spot to use up Action points, as JediBohemian said, you can craft Camp kits for a bit of XP. In addition to the many Hide and Bone you'll want on hand, you can semi-macro the creation of Kits to reduce carpal tunnel from moving stuff around.
(snip)
- /ui action toolbarslot12; (this opens a Crafting Kit in that slot)
- /selectDraftSchematic 0; (you need to find "0" yourself. This is based on the location of the camp in your Datapad. This is a trial an error period)
- /pause 15; (gives you time to double-click or drag resources to their slots)
- /nextCraftingStage; (this effectively hits the "next" button)
- /nextCraftingStage; (assuming success, this hits the "next" button")
- /createPrototype; (this closes the followup naming window)
- /createPrototype; (this sets the thing to be built)
This really doesn't work near a Crafting station or with a Droid out with a Crafting module because if you use a "Weapons, Droid and General Crafting kit" near one of these, then the "Experimentation" dialog and followup window come up. That messes up the macro apparently.

Be careful what you think--you might get hit by holocronitis.
Lythender Nirou
Eclipse Server
make 23 camps
then place them 1 in each Hotkey you have in the toolbar leaving 00 blank
the first one(top left) is numbered 00 and the very last one(Bottom right) is numbered 23
(this asumes you have extended down your toolbar by dragging)
now with you camps filling your toolbar and 00 blank make you a new macro(CTRL A)
the marco will look like this
/ui action toolbarSlot01
/pause 3600
/ui action toolbarSlot02
/pause 3600
----
and keep going untill you reach 23, then save and drag over to toolbar slot 00(top left)
now with your new macro and camps placed in the toolbar, launch your next camp byclicking the new macro you made in the toolbar
Extend your toolbar to 2 levels deep (drag it down to center of screen, click on the upper right hand corner and pull diagonally up to get two rows then move it back up.
Go to an unused toolbar.
Drag each of the camps you made into the toolbar slots at the top.
Next make 10 or 11 macros.
/ui action toolbarSlot0;
/pause 3660;
/ui action toolbarSlot13;
With each subsequent macro add 1 to the toolbar numbers, so the second macro reads...
/ui action toolbarSlot1;
/pause 3660;
/ui action toolbarSlot14;
Drag each macro to the toolbar under the camps until each camp has a macro under it.
Next, create a keep alive macro (this macro runs every 5 mins or so and ensures the game doesn't time you out between the longer hour long camp builds).
/forage;
/pause 600;
/ui action toolbarSlot23;
place this macro in the bottom right toolbar slot (shift F12) (alternately if you have survey replace /forage with survey -- remember to pick a mineral to survey for before you start the macro! -- this has the advantage of not cluttering your inventory with useless survey junk).
to start the macro click on the first macro under the first camp. After the camp is created click on the keep alive macro. Then go to bed.
Assuming you don't get disconnected or eaten by wild animals you'll wake up to 10-15k of wildnerness experience (maybe more).
Macros suck.
Do a search and you will find many many many macros, all of which waste time, as camps only disband by someone disbanding them manually - no command - or by time 51 minutes.
If you are camping to grind - have at it - get the badge and go away.
If you are camping because you want to be a Ranger, then don't force it. Took me the better part of 2 weeks. Camp with friends, craft camps and traps in camp for xp. Have fun camping.
It's not the destination, it's the journey

I noticed that you have 1 post, and im assuming that you are pretty new to the game. There is no way to really have an effective macro for camping xp. However, you can grind craft them and get xp, or craft 23 or so camps and set a looping macro. However, for a total of 300xp an hour for the basic camps, thats not really a good way to get xp. Find someone who needs med xp and tumble for them while in camp. Your xp will go a lot faster. Or get it the old fashioned way, get in a group, kill...camp...kill...camp...rinse repeat. The best way to get camp xp is to use it appropriately on hunts. Plus its much more fun that way.
Another idea is to camp near populated areas so that different people run by your camp. I always hit every camp on my way to a mission so the camper gets more xp.
But what JB said was right, don't force it. I only grinded about 8k for both scout and ranger and only cause I was excited about seeing the next camp (I hate waiting at Christmas too).
