Thread: New update notes kick butts!

  • The penalty for harvesting while in a group has been removed and replaced with a 20% harvesting bonus when harvesting while in a group.
  • Creatures will now yield more milk after being successfully milked.
  • Its been a bountiful season. The success chances of getting mollusks and crustaceans while shellfish harvesting has been increased.Expect to see higher yields from your shellfish harvesting!
  • Searching a creature lair will have a higher chance of finding eggs as well as a lower chance of finding nothing or finding a jar of bugs. You might also want to try searching the lair again; there might be a chance you missed something!

  • Woo! A bonus.

    Not bad but a lost skill in my eyes.


    Could of been so much better and actually given high level scouts and more specifically ranger a place in groups until our revamp.

    Well, think about it this way - this is one less thing we've been asking for that they haven't done. When we ask for the Ranger revamp, and the focus on the non-combat profs (like fixing and making camping useful) we can get more than just an increase in our harvesting rates.


    But heck - the last time we had any kind of substantive change was when milking was added to the game and that was a long, long time ago.

    Well, think about it this way - this is one less thing we've been asking for that they haven't done. When we ask for the Ranger revamp, and the focus on the non-combat profs (like fixing and making camping useful) we can get more than just an increase in our harvesting rates.

    You know i wanted to see this as a ranger thing to but.... i'll take anything at this point. At least its there its far better then not getting it at all.

    Yeah im not saying i dont want it, dont get me wrong. Its just how can i be so overexcited when all it highlights is another great scout/ranger idea bypassed and dished out to the general player base.


    I mean we are more or less throwing ideas at the devs and then they add it but remove the ranger/scout part. Why? This has the potential to give rangers and scout group desirability, something they have lacked for sooo long. Yes there is a revamp coming but what is the point of sitting back and letting these ideas slip then when we get to our revamp all our ideas have been implemented but in other professions or for general use.


    Sure be happy about it, its something and certainly not a backwards step, but its a lost skill a lost oportunity and a lost desirable feature.

    Oh i agree completely Owen. Believe me as a Master Ranger this should have been ours. But with what you and I both know now all i can say is that anything is a good thing. Because im really losing faith.

    You know this is on Test Center and not live. It CAN be changed. If Brisc, JB, Calc and all agree with you. Why not talk to the devs into making this at least a Novice Ranger thing?

    Although prety good news in general, is there any way this bonus can be tied to harvest mod or perhaps players are given certain % boosts if they have a master ranger or scout ing group?


    Possible Solutions:







    Ranger Help:

    Rangers should be the only ones who can increase the harvesting of group members. You have:

    Novice Ranger: 5% group harvest increase

    Tracking 4: 5% group harvest increase (10% overall)

    Master Ranger: 10% group harvest increase (20% overall)







    Or







    Harvesting Mods:

    Use harvest mods or skill boxes to determine harvest increase.

    Scout Hunting 4: 5% (5% overall)

    Master Scout: 5% (10% overall)

    Ranger Tracking 4: 5% (15% overall)

    Master Ranger: 10% (25% overall)







    Is there any way to change/add these changes? Without taking harvesting mods or harvesting boxes into account it plays far too much into the hands of the stackers for my liking.


    Rangers should be the ones providing the group harvest bonus, not random guy, They are the masters of organic collection therefore if grouped with one you should get a % bonus as the ranger helps you, shows you how to perfect your cuts and overall boosts your havesting capabilities.

    I just tested this on TC and didn't notice any boost.. Seemed like the 40% penalty still exists. Then again, I wasn't able to test much since spawn rate seems bugged, and lairs/creatures keep disappearing on me. Maybe it just hasn't taken effect yet, or is bugged.

    However, if I'm understanding this change correctly, when it does happen -- a 20% bonus to harvesting while grouped... This just seems to remind me a lot of solo grouping for credits. You know, run out to dantooine and spam for a solo group so you can get your boost to harvesting.

    No regard for skill/ability at all.

    But like I said, maybe I'm just not understanding the patch notes. (at least I hope!)

    excellent post... But I think you need one more thing added...


    make it so that the bonus does not apply if you are more then x meters from the person who can up your harvest rate... if they can be grouped and be on another planet it is a pointless exercise. (just ask the poor SLs)

    Just added my support to Owens post.


    FYI: I have a horrible lingering disease that is kicking my butt up between my shoulders - a cold. I probably will pull through, but never did check TC yesterday. I did however unlock the Phase 4 FS tree in Ranged Speed without dying, so I was semi-happy.

    I agree with Delta here, getting rid of the concept of group harvest penalty alone is a huge step. I am a happy Ranger.
