If you're willing to risk it, the advanced planets (Lok, Endor, Dantooine, Dathomir) have plenty of aggressive high-level creatures.

Buy a round-trip ticket. Having no cash if you want to get off those planets might keep you there for a very long time...

Unless you are Bothan, which gets +15 to camouflage, you'll need to wait until you get to Explore 3 before you can more consistently mask your scent. So it's back to more harvesting til then!

I am a human with explore 3 and markscent does not work consistently for me. I have tried it with all sorts of animals on Corellia and it has only worked once (for a meager 91 xp). How many times do you usually have to try per successful attempt? Are there anyother factors affecting success besides race and exploration level?

As a human, with Explore 2, I was able to get mask scent to work on Tatooine around Krettles. (blue con, agro).

With Explore 3, Kreetles are now too easy, and I have to do mutant womp rats or diseased bocatts (yellow/white/blue con agro).

After explore 4, I found it hard to find enough reds on any of the starting planets to make running around worth while. (and wasted an hour running from Mos Espa to Bestine with hardly acreature in sight) So, in Bestine, I got a roundtrip ticket to Lok and have gained like a fiend (once I got past the kimos). I was aggro'd once, but I managed to run away. As far as I could tell, there was not a single other person on the whole planet.

So, the only problem I have now is finding someone to train me Hunting 3, since I want to stick around for Hunting 4.

I'm on Corellia, just north of Tyrena. There's an indention in the mountains, a good number of various level aggro mobs. I just logged, but where I was there was a set of 3 different groups of animals(it seems to not like you floating on one group). I continued to float between the three, and have gotten 30k scout xp in about 5 hours time.

One thing I would suggest to all is to definately get exploration 4 when you can. While yes, you get more exp when you do maskscent successfully, the success rate is so much lower. Overall, it's much worth the time/money/effort to go with exploration 4 and just find a decent area with slightly higher level aggro mobs.

The set I had, was getting about 4-5X52 xp, 2x106, 3x44 and 2x64, when everything worked out(which averaged to about half the time. This has seemed to be the best method for me thus far. Just a couple of different groups of aggros, fairly close to each other, and cycle between them. Try to stay away from groups with non-aggros in them, they not only do you not get any xp, but they many times will be what trips your maskscent up(from what I could tell at least), thus basically slowing things down.

i'm pretty sure your right jomina...even when you qualify for a skill, you continue to gain xp...so if you get the 5k for one skill, but keep going and get the next 10k for the next skill (effectively having 15k xp) then you should be able to train both at the same time.

I don't believe you can do that because of caps. I don't know exactly where the caps are, but I think it's low enough that you can't gain two teirs at once. So basically, if you don't train right away, you can still gain XP, but too long and you will hit the cap, and can't get any more XP until you train.

pardon the noobish question, but i've never actually paid attention to see if this is so...

Even tho you arent trained in Hunt4 yet, even if you get to that level of exp for it, if you continue working the exp, wont you have enough to actually train it twice? i didnt think that the exp actually stopped gaining, even if you already have enough exp for it.

So in effect you could work on the scout exp til you have enough to gain it twice, and wander to another planet to do the skill.

Or mayhap i am incorrect? hehe I'll pay attention next time to my own skill trees to see if its so.

Tested it out last night to see for sure which way it was

I was working on getting hunt4 in, and decided to stick around and gain enough to get my elite as well while there.

The hunt4 skill cost 15k to train and my elite was 17.7k. The exp ended up capping at 30k

So about 2.5k short of acutally being able to train in both at once.

So yeah you've got the idea, you do still gain but only to a point and then its time to spend it. Also you will see it saying that you still gain, but the exp is capped either way.
