I'm fairly new, and I have a question about scouts.

I have 4-0-0-4 for Marksman and 0-2-0-0 in Rifleman. My combat level is 18, and for scout I'm running 4-1-4-4. (I'm working on trapping II, would that be 4-2-4-4?)

Anyhow, I'm working on trappingII, and I seethe suggestions of how to gettrapping up, but my problem is, I can't find an area where this is best suitable fo rmy combat level. So my question is, where would be a good place for me to go and grindon trapping? I can't do it in the hunting groups onDantooine, too high creatures, but I can't seem to find a place where I can easily and effectively trap. I find green creatures here and there, but they actually seem to end up killing me. (I must suck. /weep.) So where would be a good place for me to easily and effectively grind on trapping, I wanna master scout, but I'm stuck on trapping, and I hear this is the easiest part to complete. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to a starter planet, pick missions from the terminal, critters should be your combat level. That's how I did it.

The whole thing will go a lot faster for you if you find someone around lvl 50 who can draw cl50 missions....once they can keep the agro off you and you throw as many of your traps on the critter as possible you will be surprised how fast you gain xp....just make sure you buy DWEEZEL to eat so that your traps actually land on the targets.

Trapping seems to be the hardest and slowest part. I must be doing something wrong. So I need to buy a certain food to land my traps? I'm working towards trapping III now. Took me forever. So if I buy and eat this food my traps have a higher chance to land on higher mobs? First I've heard of that. Any idea where I can find it specifically other than just running around checking vendors? Or is that my only option here.

I just wanna master scout and trapping is taking forever. I'll try the food idea. Thanks alot.

I am having the same trouble. I am a combat lvl 19 - and have 4044 in scout- I am trying to work on trapping now. Due to my combat level the creatures around the the noob cities (Mos Eisly for example) only give me 1 xp per. However my trapping lvl is too low to trap any animal beyond that. Any sugesstions? Thanks in advance

I can confirm that this method works. I am level 17. I groupped with a lvl 50 friend and did lvl 52 missions. A bought a few creates of dweezel with +20 trapping. My friend was fighting with the creatures while i was throwing traps on them. For 1 creature i got 1200-1400 trapping xp. I completed trapping IV in 5 hours. Without dweezel you have no chance to trap level 50 creatures...

How many traps did you need to throw before you got one to stick though?

I'm CL58, Scout 4044, and I can't get a trap to stick to anything that's not grey to me.

When you look on Bazaar, look up at the very top, click "Vendor Location", then "Entire Galaxy", then go down to "Misc.", "Factory Crate", "Dweezel", and it will show all the crates of Dweezel for sale on the entire server, on all vendors in every shop anywhere. Yeah. I'm surprised how few people know how to do this.

Anyway, Dweezel ain't gonna help ya that much. A good trap droid like mine, with +59 to trapping seems better. The best Dweezel I've seen is like +19 for 9 minutes. Hardly worth messing with. The real problem is that it takes 70,000 trapping XP to fill up that 4th box, and Im only getting like 58 - 127 XP on what I trap, and thats the stuff that doesn't quite kill me. I've actually had to drop rifleman, and get myself down to level 9 in order to get even this pathetic XP. SOE seriously needs to work on traps!!! This is totally broken!!! I am completely furious about this.

I would get in a group, but everyone just wants to hunt level 80+ stuff, no one is going after the level stuff my traps would work on. They MUST change traps to either 1. Work according to the level of the thrower or 2. require regular Scout XP to level it, thus eliminating this incredible outrageous annoyance. They also need to allow anyone to wear armor again like it used to be, so us little scouts dont get tore up trying to get Seventy Frikkin Thousand XP!!

Also, I don't think a Demolitionist Belt (+ mod to Thrown Weapon Accuracy) will affect trapping at all. They have removed Clothing Attachments with +Trapping, I havent seen one in ages, or any BE tissues or clothes with +Trapping mods. I have also noticed I get more trapping XP from slightly LOWER level mobs, so Im thinking if I did trap something say, level 25, and Im level 9, I probably wouldnt get any XP for the effort.

My sig is Pre CU and therefore I lack the certification to use it.

Like I said, I'm new.

I didn't know to check for crates. I checked for food. Where would I go about getting a trapping droid? Is it a specific droid? Or is it a droid with a trapping specification added to it?

LOL to the person complaining about how SOE needs to look at the trapping if you had just been working on it from the beginning you wouldn't be having this problem, yes it's the slowest thing to do, I've gotten hunting 4, exploration 4 and survival 2 in the time I've gotten trapping 2.5 but every profession has it's line that's a pain to do. Technically one other option you could do is to just wait for Publish 18 when everyone will be given a token respec, just respec one of your scout exp lines to trapping and you're all set, should be pretty easy to regrind that scout exp.

It'll be a droid with trapping specializations added to it, to find one do the same thing as mentioned for factory crates of dweezil except instead of Misc go to Deeds and then droid deeds and then check the R units as they are typically the ones with trapping added to them.

Well, the method i used works only for low level characters like mine. To be able to stick your traps on lvl 50 creatures you need trapping III, i think. I did trapping I-III while i was lvl 10-15. At that level most of them sticks on the same level creatures.

But i think you should try to buy a trapping droid with higher trapping modifier. That may help you.

Btw i think i had about 60% hit chance with lvl 50 creatures. Most of the traps did stick.

But that would preclude anyone that wanted to grind scout after getting their combat skills up. I have a toon that decided BE wasnt for him, and due to a crash during the last respec has to start grinding from scratch. So Im level 57 due to MCH, and getting 1 XP per trash critter. Even level 26 critters give me 1 XP, if I can land a Wire trap on one. Its exactly like it was on TC when, if you decided to "grind" brawler after you mastered marksman you couldnt do it, as your CL was too high to generate XP on the stuff that was actually within your "ability" zone. Level one traps dont work on level 58 critters. But thats the limit it seems like I could actually generate XP with a trap.

Its broken, its not just a hard line to grind. In fact Ive been master scout on a few toons, and before the CU the trapping always went first.
