Thread: Scouts are being hurt by No build Zones

No Build Zones need to be modified Devs. Currently in no build zones not onlyrestrict housesbut also camps. Novice Scouts need survival xp but cant afford to venture far beyond city limits just to deploy camps bacause usually in camp enabled areas high level creatures spawn. There needs to be a No Build Zone for houses, buildings, harvestors, etc. and a No Deploy Zone for camps and such temporary housings. These 2 zones need to be seperate yet overlap. The No Deploy Zone needs to be in towns and around city limits but should stop when you leave city limits or a small distance outside city limits and should be on No Build Planets. And the No Build Zone needs to be as is. If these changes were made then scouts would not have as much trouble getting Survival XP and would not be hindered to level.

It's not too bad. Survival XP seems to go up pretty fast, and I don't see how it can be considered "Survival" XP if you're not trying to survive. Ever go camping in your back yard? It's not terribly fun.

Well... right outside a city limits (where I've been so far, Corellia) it's rural wilderness. It'd be like setting up camp right outside Dodge City in the old West, rather than spending money to stay in a hotel.

Are there any buildings in towns that docs and entertainers both can heal in? What I was trying to do was get a couple wounded, a doc or two (though I've got novice medic) and an entertainer, and have them come out with me to a camp... but 1k is a long way for docs and entertainers. Had entertainers trying to dance in the hospitals... but /watch'ing did nothing. Hoping to make Lazarus' MASH and R&R camp outside town, lol.

greetings Scouts

as far as I can see it, it wasnt too hard to raise the survival skill up at all. I disagree with needing to change the distance in which a scout may set up camp, why set up camp when your near town, or if you can see it? Why not just go back to sit relax and enjoy the entertainers there? The reason for camps in a RP and a logical sense is to allow people to have a safe secure area to rest and relax, in the far off reaches of the planet where civilization isnt just around the corner behind a tree.

I agree Cossich. It's not that hard to get 1km outside of town. I did it with just Novice Scout and Novice Marksman trained. After that, it's just a matter of time. I wasted a lot of time before I figured out how campsites worked. Now that I know, I can get survival XP quite fast. Almost as fast as Trapping xp.

I also had no trouble getting far enough out of town as a newb scout...it seems ok the way it is.

I too have had a difficult time making camps, and I'm on Corrillia. I have spoken to other Scouts there and they had the same problems. The problem is not just that you have to insanely far from town to make a camp, but it's also the usefulness of it.

Besides making survival XP, being in a camp, raises the natural healing rate. I go out hunting, get messed up, and would like to setup a camp to help heal faster. If you're in a group, which I was recently hunting, the only way to have your medics heal wounds, and entertainers heal BF, is to be in a camp. If you are out hunting for a long time, like we were, we all BF but couldn't get rid of it.

Actually, has anyone else experienced the problem that if an entertainer is playing or dancing in a camp, BF doesn't heal? We finally managed to build a camp, had the entertainer right in the middle. He tried both his instrument, and dancing. We all "watched/listened" to him, but our BF didn't heal. This is a bug.

I agree that the area for temp homes like camps needs to be different and smaller then that of the area for the permanant homes like houses and shops. The game usefulness of a camp is totally taken away from the Scount at this point.

This is not a bug but an intentional design.

Fatigue can only be healed in cantinas. Your entertainers can still heal Mind, Focus and Willpower wounds in camps, however, which makes /tendwound and /tenddamage viable if your medic is low on resources.

I'm not saying that the xp is bad but i have too many times when i need a camp but cant build one because im in the no build zone. I dont want to be able to build camps in towns but i should be able to build any where outside the limits of cities and themeparks.

As a n00b scout in Theed on Naboo, I didn't really have much of a problem with this. It was a little confusing at first because I didn't recall reading anything about it priot, but I have not had trouble with aggro, etc.

What I do with the "can't build" problem is take a destroy mission that is over 1000m from the city. This takes care of my exp all the way around and I know that I can set up camps when I'm hurt. I've been doing the destroy missions since I started and they are a blast, and help you raise all of the scouting skills pretty quickly (but only do 'em if you are raising some sort of weapon skill...)

The missions are a blast to do and pay pretty good....it also helps you work on your tactics as well. You learn real real fast that bum rushing the lair is a great way of getting incapped...and when you are, you know that you are far enough from the city to make a camp (Surivial exp = looking forward to incaps...well, not really, but it doesnt make it quite so bad...)

Seiryuu, I would swear that it says in the manual, that the only way to get rid of BF is to watch/listen to an entertainner, and the only place that works is is catina's and camps. Just like healing wounds can only be done in a hospital or a camp. If it is by design that you can't heal BF in camps, then it should be so. Here is why.

If you are in a hunting group, and are out in the wild fighting for a long time, you are going to build up BF. Especially the brawlers. To be way out in the wild, and collecting BF, it's not cool to have to trek back to town to clear it. If I have an Entertainer with me, and can build a camp, that should be good enough.

And for the "No build zone" messages, it's getting pretty bad. The Scout may as well not have the ability to make a camp, the way the game is now. Especially when you are a newbie like me, and you don't go out to far, but yet still a ways past the "you have left $town$" message, and can't build a camp to help heal and be safe.

The problem is that the 1000m thing isn't universal across all the planets. On Talus near Dearic you have to be 2000m away from town to start placing camps. Which makes it a huge PITA when you want to work on your Survival skills.
