Thread: Adhesive Mesh Traps Are GODLY...but...

...they don't work properly.

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't a trap work more than 33% of the time -- especially something you worked that hard to get the schematic for AND requires materials that have to be purchased or surveyed for by an Artisan (something I personally find to be outside the "spirit" of the scout class but that's a discussion for another time)?

I spent a while crafting 8 Adhesive mesh traps right after getting Trapping 4 and went after a herd of Ikopis. After throwing all 8, only 3 worked. What makes matters worse is I only was able to craft 2 traps at a time.

If this is "working as intended" then I'll stick to Phecnecine and Lecepamine traps because Adhesive Mesh isn't worth surveying for or purchasing polymer when using those two together yield the same result.

When they work, the Adhesive Mesh trap is like opening a can of whoopass, but they work so infrequently that the cost and effort of making them is just not worth it. I've /bug'd it and I recommend anyone else who's had the same problem do the same.

I think that's called "balance"...if it was both GODLY (which is debatable) and succeeded ALL the time (which it shouldn't), then it would be the next target of complaining, moaning, and nerfing...

I rarely have an AM trap fail anymore, even on high-level creatures...how long it holds them, however, is a different story altogether...

Out of curiosity, how many of those traps didn't even give you a message for failing or succeeding?

I've yet to use an adhesive mesh trap because you can only build 2 at a time. 90% of the time that I throw a trap with only one left in the stack, it doesn't work. No succeed or fail message, no status change on the critter, nothing. Could this have been the reason you were getting such low success rates?

Guys,

I'm willing to be 10 bucks that most of the failiures were on the second trap in the stack. We know that this is a long standing bug - and since Mesh only comes in twos, it stinks. It's on the list.

So it's not 33%. It's 75% and bugged.

According to my math 3 out of 8 is 37.5%.

Did you let the effect of the first trap wear off before you through the second? When hunting larger creatures (ones with 2000+ HAMs) I usually throw 4 or 5 traps at it and about 75-80% of those work. I usually lead in with a glow juice, then a noise maker, then a glow wire and maybe a phen dart followed by a bone spur. I was doing this the other day on Lok to Perlek's and was getting 206 trapping XP for each, not to mention the 170+ CH XP from using my Kaadu as a decoy.

FUna,

Well, at least its working now. And you've got to come to DC to collect your 10 bucks.

And the 75% thing - subtract 4 from my "bugged" hypothesis, then divide 3 successes by 4 tries - 75%. I'm not that mathematically retarded.

You'd lose that $10

What I did was make 4 batches of AM traps and assigned each to my F5-F8 keys. It didn't matter whether it was first in the stack or second. After having a bunch fail I wrote down the performance and they are as follows:

F5
Fail
Success

F6
Fail
Fail

F7
Success
Success

F8
Fail
Fail

In answer to another question in the threaad, when they failed there was a message stating such. No mystery failures.

Now here's where things get odd. Last night I had almost ZERO luck with AMS. I just solo'd 3 Pekos using AMs and out of 4 traps only 1 failed (which is more of what I'd expect) and it was the first in the stack. I'm about to go try two more.

Maybe last night was just bad luck or a bad seed in the random number generator

Ok...last night was a fluke or something.

So far today I've had a 7:1 success rate. Last night the AM trap performance was hideous. After crafting 10 sets I gave up on them for a while.

Bizarre.

I blame the rebellion myself.

I've lived in the area all my life except for 3 years where my wife's job took us to Knoxville, TN. (Note: If you ever think its a good idea for a northerner to move to E. Tenn and look for a job, just shoot yourself and end the pain before you get there)

If you ever wanna get some people together and meet up for a coupla beers let me know. Maybe we can find some more SWG fans and meet at Jillians or some place in the evil that is DC.
