Thread: Anyone wearing armor?
Hi All,
I haven't really looked into this yet, but I'm reading more and more about the excellent features of Chitin Armor and the like but I also hear that there are penalties for wearing armor. My intuition (nothing more) leads me to believe that these penalties might affect a Scout more than many other professions.
What are you feelings on Armor? Anyone wearing it?

I just have Bone Armor and it seriously effects my health bar and doesnt do enough to protect me. I haven't read anything about Chitin Armor, but I'm sure it will have encumber stats on it as well.

The main reason you guys dont seem a marked improvement wearing bone armor is that its main effectiveness is against laster fire, so against creatures it doesnt do jack. Chitin's on the other hand, main effectiveness is against kinetic damage, which is like a regular creature beating on you, so if you pick some of that up, it may help you out. I am using chitin atm myself, but not a full set because the big hits to stam and constitution.
Also if you examine the armor peace, it will tell you the effectiveness's of the armor, as well as some of the hits you will be taking to your HAM for usining it.
i just bought chit chest, both biceps and legs.
without real numbers here, i think it was well worh the stat penalities. i redid my stats a day before purchasing, so that my health and const would stay at a good lvl (I wanted more action anyway).
When you start seeing the spam of "your chit leg piece absorded 34 damage" you'll know it was worth it. for a soloer i think it is essential. if you were always in a group and not getting hit it might not be. i can also see it being less than needed for a great rifleman, but as I'm a pistol guy and get beat up at close range I'm quite enjoying my new look.
Trandoshan Scout/Unarmed here... used Bone for a while but saw no benefits. Tried Mibari, but it just didn't go with my character. Have Chitin chest & bracers only, and it seems to absorb a ton of damage! I should wear leggings too, but they look so dumb on a lizard...
I use Mabari Armorweave, as it is primarily used for melee attacks, which is what you'll get most of as a Scout.
Bone is good if you are PvPing and expect lots of laser fire, but Mabari is fairly cheap, looks good and doesn't cut back on your stats that much.
But armor, in general, is something that is up to the individual player to determine if they want or not. I didn't use armor until I reached the third tier of Scouting, and didn't have any problems up to that point.

I ditched my armour it's a waste IMO.
no scout should even waste their stats on wearing it because i have not found it to be efficient at all.

I wore a full set of chitin armor for about two days (10 hour playtime). In that time, the condition on the chest piece went from about 18000 to 0. Similar degredation on all other pieces. And part of the time I was fighting with a large guild group and not even getting hit.
I'm waiting to hook up with our armorcrafter to get it repaired. Afraid to try myself because it tends to destroy the items. Minimally,it'll take about 20% off the max condition, so you can repair it only so many times.
Yes... I noticed I took less damage. But, armor wears out WAY too fast for me keep it maintained. Just not worth it imho at this point. Maybe later if I have tons of money laying around.
Better to play smart and not get hit (I'm a rifle scout, so it's not that hard). And if I'm playing in such a manner so as to not get hit, why bother with the stat penality? I got tired of taking all my armor off everytime I needed to regen.
My Mab armor was used, only has about half it's hp's left. But I don't think I've lost a single point yet.
Sounds like you just got a really crappy set of armor friend.
I found i was able to last longer in a toe toe with "creatures" without armour (bone). However, When i tested my ham pool drop rate against npcs' with and without armour, there was a very marked difference. If you know you are going to be in "agressive negotiations" with an NPC then armour is the go.

range and a good high power rifle works well for npc's and then teh backup of a point blank range high power blaster also backs up nicely or learn melee combat tactics as a close range backup.
