All,

Please read Thunderheart's post here:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=csystems&message.id=2024

As of the mid-March patch, camps will no longer be required for pulling droids/mounts/vehicles.

Looks like our explanation wasn't strong enough to hold back the wave of non-Scouts who hated the requirement.

This is horrible news, having someone along who has the ability to set up a camp has never been a problem in my opinion. It just goes to show that we are all getting too comfortable with our vehicles and mounts. This should not spell the end of the usefullness of camps if NRaas's Modular Camp idea is embraced by the devs.

Notice from my Sig below that both of my characters have scout.

I agree that having someone along to pull out a camp (ie: myself) has never been a problem.Actually stopping to pull out that camp and set it up has been a pain.

Camping has never been my "thing." Even when I had Master Ranger (not a "holo" profession, just trying it out), I only rarely used more that the base camp, and then only to show off my the Field Bases.

Well, seeing how strongly some people here feel about this, though, so I think I'll head back over the the BE forum and bask in the goodness of MILK!

Guys,

What I need here is less grousing - God knowsI can do enough of that on my own - and some constructive reasonings behind while we like this idea.

I'll be frank - I think we're on the losing end of this battle. The vast majority of players hate the restrictions and I'm having a hard time justifying it myself, outside of technical excuses.

Can ya'll give me some cogent arguments as to why we should oppose this change?

I'll be frank again - Seiryuu and my debate really made me question whether or notI had my head up my butt on this whole issue, and I'm still worried that I do. Help me out here, guys.

Will scouts lose out on a significant amount of income on this deal? I have never sold a camp to anyone, since if you can use it you can make it yourself. (I have bought a crate of basic ones, before I tried out my own factory).

Probably the biggest push for not needing a camp to pull a vehicle or pet is from folks without scouting skill. These people can't use a camp at all, so there will be no lost revenue from selling camp to them.

If scouts/rangers do sell enough camps to make it a significant loss, maybe there could be a few tweaks on who can use what type of camp after this change goes through. If the ability to use a camp was increased to the next level of camp up from what you could make.... then there would still be a market for them within the profession. (So for example someone with novice scout can make a basic camp kit, but would be able to purchase and use a multi person camp kit.)

Hopefully camps will be improved as well to at least do what they are even now supposed to.... higher healing rate, repell animals... on up to the moonthat Nraas is shooting for.

Honestly I think taking the restriction away is good IF:

a: they give some basic traking in the wilderness survival tree

b: allow some sort of stealth or track evasion (although I think track evasion should be for rangers)

by stealth I don't mean stealth from mobs (mask scent) I mean stealth from players... give alertness a point...

c: give scouts especially master scouts the ability to harvest all resources from a kill.

If any of these ideas were to be implemented then the loss of camps would not be felt as keenly as just taking one of the major points of being a scout away and replacing it with nothing.

This is perhaps one of the best changes made in the game. There is no reason why we should need a camp to call a vehicle or a creature, one of the main reasons that happened because some people were getting killed in PVP, by CH's, pulling out creatures early on in the game. this has changed with all the nerfs and balance to the ch requirement. do not fight this change this is a good change for the game and the players. Instead think of ways to make camps USEFULL, and not inconvinent.

some examples;

1-Increase camphealing rate, based on camp level the higher the camp the higher the healing ability.- this would make people want to camp.

2-add some other bonus like a small stat buff, maybe mind buff, the longer you camp the higher the buff, but not enough to take away from entertainers.

3-let entertainers hell BF in camps.

4-allow pets to auto heal in camps like PC's.

5-if you survey/sample in camp you get a % of increase to your survey/sample skills.

these are just some small examples to make camps fun, right now they are not, its a hindrance an inconvinence.these changes are goodaccept it and find a better use for camps.
