I mastered scout yesterday and was looking for input on what some of you that have mastered as well do as an elite career? I'm wondering if I should continue my scouting ways and gothe Ranger path or try Bounty Hunter? Or is there some other professional combo that you enjoy? Thanks for your time.

Personally, and this isn't for everyone, so take this with a grain of salt; I like two different templates with scout: Ranger/Master Rifleman and Master Bounty Hunter. Think of rifleman/ranger as your big game hunter or raider. Your equiped to harvest creature resources for high cpusale on the open market or for looting some of the higher end content in the game for selling on the open market.

Then there's Master Bounty Hunter. MBH I like because it requires a great deal of commitment (as does Ranger). Not in terms of 'The Grid' (that's trivial). But, in terms of knowing the game (armor, foods, weapons, damage mods, crafting, etc). Also as a MBH I can harvest creature resources as a side job between Jedi bounty jobs.

You may want to take a detour in CH. That was kind of a neat profession. I liked running around planets looking for babies. That was a lot of fun.

RamMan,

Congratulations! Welcome to the Master Scout club.

I like the name. Reminds me of He-man. Anyway, getting on with your hazing...erm..I mean inititation ritual. Some moron is digging a hole in the backyard. There's a huge pile of dirt out there already. I don't want that hole there. Your job is to kill it back in. Get to work.

I would suggest going Rifleman and Ranger. Those are two great and fun professions, and you'll be able to solo almost anything in the game (except a Krayt).

If you like reading countless post by whiners, go BH. Realize, most BHs are wanna-be Jango Fetts, who in real life are Booboo Fetts, the little known clone who was only half baked. They want it all, yesterday.

Ranger is fun, you can master any combat profession, and still have some skill pts left over. Or you can dabble.

Just remember, BHs ride the short bus -

JB

and before any BHs start whining - just don't - you can't say anythng that hasn't been said before - and I will still think you (as a class in general, not you specifically) are whiners and morons.

*sneaks back into the scout forum*

I find the ranger and master heavy swords is a great combo. Traps that hit the mind pool and cause melee defense to drop is a big time help

EDITED: I'm retracting some uncessairly negative comments I made towards JB when realizing, "Hey you know, I don't much care for the majority of the BH community either, that's why I post here a lot"

There's not a class in this game that doesn't have a subset of whiners and morons. But, still I really can't argue with you on the *general* mind set of the vocal majority on the BH forums. I fight many battles over there with the idiots there that come out of the wood work. The popular opinion is that the devs broke BH missions to Jedi could level in peace. For whatever reason the devs broke these missions is unknown, even more unknown is why JustG (Senior Producer) would post everyday giving status reports on the fix.

But, don't let the attitudes of some Fett-wannabes taint your image of the BH profession. The majority of the BHs I've run into ingame are very mature, respectful and knowledgable of the game. Basically, how it works is when your typical "leet dood" buys SWG he says, "I'm going BH so I can own like Fett. I'm going to grief me some Jedi." Well these leet doods come on the forums talk about how they are going to own, realize that they can't just mindlessly spam their favorite special to win in PvP or PvE, come to the BH forums and win for about a month about how bad the profession is and then they post a farewell post and that's it. Its a revolving door. But, if you notice the Community Elders on the BH forum, those who have stayed with the profession and can't imagine doing anything else are a lot like the good people you'll find in here or on the Ranger forum. We just tend to get drowned out by the revloving door of idiots.

In contrast you have the Ranger forums that are usually very constructive and positive. They have been ignored probably more than any other profession. Not only haven't they received any love in the last year, but, they don't even have a revamp scheduled for them on the horizion. But, Ranger doesn't attract the same revolving door of idiots that BH does. No one says, "I'm going Ranger and I'm going to own all!" Plus, Ranger takes a fair amount of intelligence and knowledge of the game to be successful at. Creature harvesting, IMO, is very cool and a challenge. You have to know what to harvest and who sells it and what attributes to look for. Just kind of cool. Too bad the other three lines aren't really all that useful.

Creature handler is great when paired with an elite combat profession. I would suggest either starting BH and see how you like it or take up an elite marksman profession (Rifleman is the best choice in my opinion). With your strong creature doing the melee damage, you are able to shoot at your enemy with no damage except special HAM costs. If you decide to go BH or search for Black Suns. Ranger Tracking (as you might already know) will ease the search for NPC's. Ranger will also allow you to camoflauge yourself against creatures (maybe NPC's too?). Ranger is best for hunting the wild planets and tracking bounties or Black Suns. Other than that, I would become a Creature Handler. (But that's just me.)

Hope that helps!

Interesting feedback. I just completed Master Scout last night myself!!!! I was looking at the ranger/CH path but it looks like CH doesn't have a big use. I've started CH and am having fun capturing babies and using my low level beasts as fighting partners but I don't think there is much else you can do with it. I'm also toying with ranger/rifleman but is harvesting that profitable? I have soooooo much to learn.

Yes harvesting can be very profitable, if you know what you're doing. I'm going to try and get a guide up sometime this week, but, don't hold me to that. It should be a fairly extensive guide and I don't have a lot of spare time.

It depends on what you want. I got this game and wanted to be a 'leet dood' bh and it took me like 5-6 months to master because I didn't grind it and I got disspirited along the way. I obviously know now that I can't be a leet dood bh but I havent dropped it since. I want to drop it, I want to try out another uber proffression, but its not in me to drop something I've worked so hard for (plus I hate grinding).

Anyways, if you want to make lots of money from a scout proffression go ranger, they can harvest stuff and help other players track down certain NPCs (ie black sun). With rifleman attached to that you can also probably kill those NPCs and loot them and sell the loot. CH, in my opinion, used to be a good proffression but now adays a simple warning shot will send a creature running or if that doesnt work they wont do enough dmg to punch through a good set of comp + buffs. This leaves BH as a setup for a combat proffession, BH is hard to do and is not for the weak hearted. The investigation line is very buggy right now (not to mention the jedi missions) and the payout is not worth it. However you can be a decent combat proffression with its own unique missions and the ability to hunt jedi in a BH. Also you can be an elite user of 3 different weapon types which maximizes the type of damage you can do. On paper a BH sounds good, they can use just about any dmg type in the game, and they can apply awesome state changes and they have decent looking specials. However in game due to armor and buffs and defenses they arent that well. An unenhanced bh vs an unenhanced other prof will probably come out with BH on top as BH has the quick powerful specials needed. In my opinion it cant last for long periods of time in a battle and todays enhancements and defenses force it to which causes it to lose.

Sry for the long BH rant . Choose what you like and want and what you would have the most fun with.
