Thread: Combat XP as a rifleman?

Hmm...this might been asked before.

Now, I am not asking about the grenades. They are extremely boring. Though not a grinder, I bought some crates and got the shakes almost directly, after ½ a crate. Sooo boooring.

Well, is there a good way to get combat XP when you have capped your rifles at 900k?

I am usually just doing a walkabout on Endor, and that combat XP goes quite slowly. Maybe just stick around on Dath, shoot until rifles is at 900k, then go to Paemos for conversion, rinse and repeat?

Anyone tried different rifles/mobs/tactics with rifles and compared how the combat XP is affected?

I am not interested in any changes of template either. Just rifle related answers, please.

I will fool around with this myself, if nobody has tried it.

I am afraid there is no other way than rifle to get combat xp. Means we are stuck with the 1/10 ration between weapon and combat xp.

So you were right to go to Paemos once you capped weapon XP.

First, tell me how you capped Rifles XP at 900k,I would love to know that. Also, how long did it take?

As far as combat XP, the geo caves are good, if you have tanks to keep the mobs at a distance. Someone told me the squill caves, again, if you have a tank.

you can cap your combat XP and your rifle XP in one buff session. however this will yield 130kFS XP.

it is VERY VERY easy takes about 2 hours to cap your rifle XP twice this will yield 120k FS XP. then you have another hour on the buff to recap or get very close. this will allow you to make over the 10k difference between capping combat and making village runs each 900k...

trading in the 900k rifle and 90k combat when you reach 900k weapons is more efficient than waiting till you cap the combat xp.

how to grind Force sensitive Combat and Reflex xp with rifles (even tho commando 4000 and weaponsmith 0100 is more efficient):

doctor buffs

music buffs

vaserian brandy

T21

DXR6b

suit of ubese

travel to endor smuggler outpost

equip armour weapon get on bike turn on overlay map increase radar range to 256

select waypoint or create waypoint to Death Watch Bunker (exact waypoint can be found in various DWB guildes)

start traveling to DWB kill EVERYTHING that comes up on the radar even cowardly gurreck lairs.

you should have achieved 900k weapon XP by the time you get to the bunker if not before.

return to village

travel back to science outpost killing EVERYTHING you come across.

on arrival at SO if you have less than 450k weapons xp head to endor and top it off

if you have 400-450k weapons return to village killing EVERYTHING you come across.

doing this you should be able to max weapons xp at least 3 times per buff session.

Short version:

  1. Good finances: in my case, long-time small-scale sales of fusion energy (vendor and coronet bazaar: around 1.5-2 cpu) and some lucky loot (polearm speed 6 from aa'kuan on talus). I am a casual player, got family, job, house to take care of (in no particular order of priority).

  2. Good armor (triple 80% in my case)

  3. Good T21 rifle (by a 12-pt WS, damage sliced 30&-ish) maybe pups

  4. Buffs

  5. Vasarian brandy, 2 drinks

  6. Ahrisa, 1-2 depending on the mobs

  7. Kill everything that moves on Endor (or your planet of preference)

2. - 6. AKA the God Mode. You can spam headshot3 or strafe2 all day long and I haven't even had the chance to slice my comp armor yet.

Being a CH I usually interrupt this for an occasional tame
Oh, and I bought some stuff for speed cap... *waves good-bye to several million* ... so normal mobs on Endor seldom reach me before they are dead. Saves the armor quite a lot!

You can still die, I was stupid enough to strafe2 in the Jinda caves, and umpteen of them ganged up on me and my pet from the adjacent rooms

  • enjoy it while it lasts, the combat revamp is bound to change God Mode (my guess).

Hope that is enough, mate

Anyway, I prefer not to go looking for the musician buffs. Ahrisa works for me. Money is no problem anyway, finding stuff to buy with it is harder than getting credits. Weird?

yeah whatever gets you to no mind use thats all that matters. no need for composite on these trips since the only damage your going to take is kinetic, disease, and poison.

the only thngs that the DXR6b works better than the T21 is the gurrecks for the most part.

I took Barb's advice last week and went to Endor. The variety of the wildlife is amazing. I never made it more than 2000m from the outpost before I found enough lairs to cap out my 900K rifle xp.

-- Almost everything that moves is 2900 to 5K xp.

--I only keep my radar on 128m, and there are usually 3 to 4 lairs on it average

-- The natural lairs can spawn over 30 MOBs if you play them right.

That's 130K - 150K possibly in one lair... At that rate you only need 6 good lairs to cap, shortened by the fact that there are lots of non-lairs (or lesser lairs) to kill too.

Barb... you claimed a luckyouting one night of capping in 25 minutes, with maybe 45 minutes being average. I think you have better weapons than some of us. My T21 is 520 without power-up and my DXR6 is 476 max. It takes me between 50 and 75 mins to cap .... but I also harvest after I have wiped out a nest and there are 20+ corpses lying around. That is probably slowing me down a little.. takes me maybe 3 mins to target each corpse and hit my harvest macro.

i dont stop to harvest or admire the scenery

i have macros to quickly dismount start the strafe2 macro and stop and start and switch targets all via macro. i was a study in efficiency in shrinking the time to get to the end of the FS grind. mileage will vary but you should be right in there in 3 weapon caps a buff set on average.

i spent 7 weeks fine tuning my methods grinding everyday at least 1 buffset and all day on weekends. do one thing over and over and think about how to do it more efficiently and better nonstop and you will get good at it.

my grind T21 were 520ish damage and topped 600 with PUP. my krayt is 619 and thats the rifle i got lucky with.

i was motivated by JTL however. i wanted that second slot OPEN to do shipwright with. if it wasnt for JTL i wouldnt have gone to such lengths to grind so fast. i truly hate grinding but that doesnt stop me from achieving my goals or sharing methods with others to get them past the crappy parts of the game as painless as possible

How do you change your radar? I have seen people mention this but have never quite found it.

Barb...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you're maybe a...ummm...Type A personality?

I have to admire what you did... and have certainly benefitted from you sharing your experiences.. Thanks.

That said, I personally can't go at that rate and keep playing this game. I'm afraid my remaining 4.5 trees are going to be a rather long grind. Two xp caps a buff session is all I can handle before I feel the need to go watch Sponge Bob with my son and let my mouse stop smouldering. Some nights only one cap per buff beforeennui takes over.

Actually, I cool down a lot of times by running errands after capping. Fixing the bikes and the AV-21... looking for new armor and weapons... even slicing some. And I think I went against the mainstream and passed on JTL. Don't have enought hours in a day as is. Will probably get it at some point if I keep going, though.
