anyway - enough with the preamble. The rifle community has much to like and much to dislike with the current patch that made it to live. Bugs are litterally crawling out of the cracks due to this being pushed to live - well just a little early.

Weapons certs not working, our new profession defining skills borkedetc. The Cu has been much improved from where it was at 2 weeks ago but not really well enough to hit live yet.

We need to get a good view of what is wrong with our profession so that we can present a coherent and constructive idea to the devs about our issues and bugs. I am collecting this data in the threads stickied at the top of the forum and I hope to see some fixes coming very fast to us.

We also need to be aware that other professions must also be balanced and in some cases upgraded during this time. Please support your atk entertainers as they lost many of their skills with the revamp, support the crafters as many changes have hit them (and definetly the changes are not all good).

Character level damage multipliers and defenses still override much of the benefit we get for say ranged defense and accuracy etc. This is still a big issue and we need to keep an eye on it.

Thank you

Yours Respectfully

I feel sorry for all the folks that are going to take the time and work out all the bugs that SOE and it's developer's should have worked out themselves.

I refuse to do it myself because I am disgusted by what they have pushed off on us. I just cancelled my account (though I am paid up through June!) and I won't be resubscribing unless there are drastic changes to the system.

I /salute you who have the gumption to play test this game for SOE letting them get ROTW to the shelves in time to capitalize on the release of EP3. They should at least give you all a free copy of the expansion.

I'll be checking in from time to time to see how things are going. I'm really hoping the Dev's take control of this game; I'm positive that had they been from the begining we wouldn't have seen a rushed CU such as this.

Dev's: Can we get the SEA mods that do not work replaced with mods that do? Also, while you're at it, make sure to update the loot table by deleting mods for SEA's that are no longer applicable. Thanks.

Thanks Akehece (wait, is that spelled right?).

I think if we get snipershot to attack every time, kneecapshot to actually slow something, and startleshot to do EITHER of the things in the description, we'll be ok

Have you noticed an issue with powerups? I was p-upping things and the damage and dps was going down...pretty upsetting, lol

Nice.

As Ackehece said, support the community, its gonna be tough. I know, personally, I'll be tipping any and all entertainers (non-AFK of course, never use AFK ones) I find a decent amount from now on. I fear they may be hard to find, ans that will be bad news for BF. My BF on TC3 is up around 700, and my stims are noticeably becoming less effective...

Also the medical professions will be recieving some love for healing services rendered!

I noticed that too.
It's because the stats on the damage Pups (at least the ones i have) raise the speed of the gun, as well as the damage.

I havn't done extensive testing (I'll have to see if I can get 2 of the same gun to do this) but i wonder if the speed of the gun effects the cool down timer for specials that have some (sniper shot). (I'm also not sure if this was covered else where and I missed/forgot it in the past days comotion)

I think the DPS uses a basic attack (ranged attack) when it's figured. So if Sniper shot's cool down was always longer than your guns speed then it would be worth using the Pup still.

Or maybe Cool down is based on gun speed and the PRe CU Pups are junk lol
anyone know?

I feel the exact same way. I cancelled my account last week(still paid 3 months in advance, ugh)after hopping onto TC to see the disaster forming over there. I'm not paying SOE a monthly fee anymore just so that I can be QA for them. If they ever release a working, FUN game, i might considering playing it, until then, I sincerely hope all of you enjoy the challenge of playing a marginally functioning game.

Well, considering that's what we've been playing for the better part of... actually, since the game launched, I'm not sure I understand the concern.

Seriously, if you still have three months paid up, I'd check back in after a week or two and see just how many of the bugs have been fixed. My guess is there will have been enough to get the worst of these issues out of the way, so that the game will be working at least as well as it had been previously, if not better.

Or were you able to get your three months' subscription refunded?

Heh heh, like the preamble Acke!

My notes on the buglist:
Kneecap shot seems to be working fairly well, and seems to be essentially the same as +snare+ shots from other professions. If you open with it you can kite for a longer amount of time, but if you use it when a mob gets to melee range it won't slow them down enough that you can escape. I believe that SOE's response on this one would be "working as intended", but maybe we could push them to have it slow down mobs a little more. The last time I tested it in PvP, it made a much more noticable speed reduction than against mobs, but its been a couple days.

Cover, Conceal, and Sniper shot are all still buggy, and very difficult to get them to work. They were going pretty well there for a while on TC-Ep3, so I feel like if we push the devs they should be able to resolve this. I'm continuing to /bug it every time I see they put in a hotfix for other stuff and it's still there (or more often if I'm feeling ornery).

Not necessarily bugs, but "irks":
The level-based damage modifiers are still a little bit too large over skill benefits. If they would tweak the curve a little, I think the game would feel less artificial when hunting stuff outside a thin radius around our combat level. It's live-with-able now, but not ideal.

The xp curve is overboard also. I don't want to get *full* xp for a level 60 mob when I'm level 80, but more than 1 point would be nice. Again, I can live with it, but some tweaking would be welcome.

Overall:
The bugs are irksome; not being able to access waypoints on my datapad is a problem that should have been filtered out before it made it to live, it is disappointing to be virtually unable to use the rifleman-defining keystone abilities currently, etc. However, I've had more fun with group hunting in the past 2 days than I have had in a very long time. It is really cool to be able to get a good group of 2 or more people together with a good variety of professions, get missions at your group level, and go out and see how you can combine abilities to survive different types of creatures. I was dying a lot the first few runs, but as me and my guild and group friends got more used to things, we are getting much more proficient.

I can see how folks that like to mainly solo could be feeling overwhelmed, but I think that there are some solo-friendly templates in the ranks... With some damage dealing and some crowd control, and I think that soloing will be more challenging, but do-able and ultimately more fun also.

I'm not paid by them, and they don't give me anything free... but dang, I like breaking stuff.

I've been on TC for better than a year and a half full-time, and on the TC-CU/Ep3 since it took the place of TC. we've been doing what we can, but as players, and not devs/QA, we don't get to write the code, nor the theory behind it.

did I mention I like breaking stuff?

Whatever you gotta do, you gotta do.....

I stopped playing Septemberor November of last year 2004 (I won't cancel because, well they don't give refunds so whats the point? And if you say "so they can get a message," well if they don't get the message on the boards and they don't get the message by the mass Exoduses, they aint gonne get the message by me hitting the cancel button that does nothing until June 27'th 12:00 AM CST, or do they count that in the time zone of the server PST? Whatever you get the point.).

I came back to test if the CU is fun to play (which back when I quitthe gamewas boring as hell) and really it is a dramatic improvement over the POS, dammed may it burn in hell, combat system that I left. All professions have value now, no more "Robocop MD", and people are actully grouping.

-Sure the level system with MOB's needs to be tweeked so that all Mobs are not cookie cutter BS.

-Sure it's Buggy, but thats nothing new it's always been buggy and will most likely always be buggy.

-Sure it's something new you got to get used to, but change is life, you gotta deal with it.

I'm not saying don't quit, hell that would make me a hypocrite, I am saying that you need some time to cool off. Play another MMORPG, read philosophy, go see some movies, whatever but get this dammed game outa your head for awhile and then reapraise it.
