I feel sorry for all the folks that are going to take the time and work out all the bugs that SOE and it's developer's should have worked out themselves.I refuse to do it myself because I am disgusted by what they have pushed off on us. I just cancelled my account (though I am paid up through June!) and I won't be resubscribing unless there are drastic changes to the system.I /salute you who have the gumption to play test this game for SOE letting them get ROTW to the shelves in time to capitalize on the release of EP3. They should at least give you all a free copy of the expansion.I'll be checking in from time to time to see how things are going. I'm really hoping the Dev's take control of this game; I'm positive that had they been from the begining we wouldn't have seen a rushed CU such as this.
I feel the exact same way. I cancelled my account last week(still paid 3 months in advance, ugh)after hopping onto TC to see the disaster forming over there. I'm not paying SOE a monthly fee anymore just so that I can be QA for them. If they ever release a working, FUN game, i might considering playing it, until then, I sincerely hope all of you enjoy the challenge of playing a marginally functioning game.
Whatever you gotta do, you gotta do.....I stopped playing Septemberor November of last year 2004 (I won't cancel because, well they don't give refunds so whats the point? And if you say "so they can get a message," well if they don't get the message on the boards and they don't get the message by the mass Exoduses, they aint gonne get the message by me hitting the cancel button that does nothing until June 27'th 12:00 AM CST, or do they count that in the time zone of the server PST? Whatever you get the point.).
I came back to test if the CU is fun to play (which back when I quitthe gamewas boring as hell) and really it is a dramatic improvement over the POS, dammed may it burn in hell, combat system that I left. All professions have value now, no more "Robocop MD", and people are actully grouping.
-Sure the level system with MOB's needs to be tweeked so that all Mobs are not cookie cutter BS.
-Sure it's Buggy, but thats nothing new it's always been buggy and will most likely always be buggy.
-Sure it's something new you got to get used to, but change is life, you gotta deal with it.
I'm not saying don't quit, hell that would make me a hypocrite, I am saying that you need some time to cool off. Play another MMORPG, read philosophy, go see some movies, whatever but get this dammed game outa your head for awhile and then reapraise it.
PsyscoJuggalo, you are my hero. I think a lot of players that made the old system work, don't realize how much of an mprovment the CU is.

Because internal QA thought changing power levels was too tedious? It took too much code to implement? The UI guys were booked? The started smoking crack?
- time - hard deadline that was added late in the development cycle
- the previous version they were working on was not what they hoped
- the vision guys got changed out by SOE
All would be better guesses (and much closer to the truth) I suspect we will never know the full truth of why it was changed this way but It has and it is not going back to the other broken system we had so the best we can do now is adapt or die (cancel) I plan to adapt at least for several months (allow it is shakedown cruise). This new system has promise and with a few changes (like the level system - ick) I could come to like it alot. If they fixed all the bugs it would be easier to see the general shape of the system and get a better feel for it. Right now rifleman barely qaulify as nukers as our big damage specials and our profession defining abilities fail much to often. Once that works we will see what we are supposed to be like same with carbines same with pistols hell even same as pikes. So lets eliminate bugs, give constructive suggestions on how to change the game into something we can like and basically hope they follow them (they have no obligation to unfortuantely)
I aint going to argue with you. Do what you think is right.
I just don't believe the suits care about cancelations that much. If they did, the combat revamp would have taken place alot sooner then 1 year and a half after they said they were gonna do it.
Agreed, snipershot and kneecapshot are broken. Havent used startleshot but I'm not surprised about it either. Sometimes snipershot does the windup and then just does not fire. It's not that there is just no animation -- the attack does not happen.
I agree that snipershot and concealshot are bugged. But I hardly think we're not nukers.
The other night I was hunting on Kashyyk with a master sabre Jedi Knight, and was consitently outdamaging him by a factor for 4. And that is without snipershot (using headshot / startleshot). The same hold true for every other profession I have grouped with for hunting - I outdamage them by a large margin every time. In my guild (mostly melee profs) I am the nuker. It's clear to them, and it's clear to me. Even with snipershot not working.
When snipershot works, I'm even deadlier.
Kneecap shot works for me very well. Aggro two critters. Kneecapshot one of them, and see which one gets to you first. Typically, using kneecapshot alllows me an extra shot or two before they reach me - often that is enough to kill them.
Before we start calling for changes to the system, let's fix the bugs first so we know for sure where we and the other professions are at. Then, once we know where we are (and where everyone else is) we can plan a route to get to where we want to be.
My .02 credits.
Chaos ... a few of these items have been fixed or at least ammeliorated in the last few weeks since my last state address..
new one coming immediately after publish 17+ some testing time.

I understand that, but I still hear a lot of people weeping and moaning that they are still broken, is all.![]()
Right on fanboi! You go tell those that dislike the bugs in the CU that they just don't know how to play this new game the CU intoduced. It is a much better system even with the bugs than the old one. You tell them that SOE did not rush this CU. You tell them that even though they loved this game prior to the CU that they have no right to complain about the changes that were made with the CU because SOE has every right to make any changes they want.
Yeah, you go tell them fanboi! Fanboi's rock!
I haven't had any buggy issues with using any of the various shots available, aside from line-of-sight issues which you can tell by using the skill and getting a disagreeable click sound and a red bracket around the shot in the hotkey line.
The problems I've had are much more serious. Being shot at by stormtroopers from over 60 meters away when I can't start shooting till I get to 45 meters is crazy. I'm not sure if anyone remembers how annoying 64 meters was for rifleman range, but 45 meters is rediculous. In case no one has noticed, SOE has decided that the rifleman profession is in actuallity the sniper profession, not the real life military rifleman class. I have a friend who is a military sniper and I talked to him about the ranges in SWG for the rifleman profession and he is appalled. A sniper should NEVER be less than 100 meters from their target... doing so would only guarantee their death. Now I undterstand that there are limits in a game so I would have to say that, at the least, if it can be rendered and seen, it can be shot. Likewise, NPCs should NEVER have a combat range that is longer than a players. There are many times that I have been incapacitated by a stormtrooper at 50 meters. I had only 5 meters to go before I could even start shooting. Many of those times I was thrust into combat with them at 95 meters. The only other thing there that gives me problems is the terrain. I've found that in 45 meters in SWG there are way too many large hills and ditches that make it impossible to use sniper shot, because there is no clear line-of-sight.
Outside of that I've really enjoyed the CU, and I think it's going well... I would just like to see these things work so that fights are not decidedly in the favor of the NPC.
