Hrm... looks like most your post was cut off.

Anyhoo - welcome to Rifleman. Be sure to read the FAQ and such, good info. Good luck!

I'm a relatively new rifleman, generally found it very useful to have whilst supporting pets in combat or even just using the pets as tanks whilst I blast away.

There's just a few questions I'd like answered by all you veterans..

1. Does damage increase as you become a better and better rifleman? I see TKAs do the same amount of damage in 1 second I do in 6.. does it get better?

2. Do ranges increase as you become a better rifleman? After all, this seems to be a class geared towards sniping, and yet 64m seems to be the max range of most rifle weapons... 64m is not the distance I want to be away from my target when I'm trying to go for a quick and easy kill. I want 500m from a sniper rifle...

3. Anyone know where I can buy a good T21 rifle on Farstar?

First, welcome. Then in answer to your questions:

1. Yes and No. Melee professions get bonuses to the damage they do as they climb the tree, kind of like they hit harder because they are stronger than when they started training. Ranged weapons do not get that kind ofa bonus. But the specials get better as you climb the tree. For instance, Mindshot1 has a 1.5 x the damage modifier, but Mindshot2 had a 2 x the damage modifer. Our top special, Strafeshot2, is area effect and does 5 x the damage. Also, as you go up the tree your personal speed modifier increases. You did not say where you were in the tree, so I cannot tell you what to expect right now, but by Master Rifleman you can fire a weapon with up to a 10 second speed at 1 shot per second on normal attack, so your speed increases a lot as you go up the tree, and between that and the higher damage specials, you will be doing a lot more damage than you are now. Read the threads, particularly the FAQs to get a better feel for this.

2. Everyone's range is basically capped at 64m, and that is not going to change anytime soon.

3. I am not on Farstar, so I will leave this answer to someone else.

Well, I think I'm 2-1-0-1 at the moment, not exactly brilliant, in fact, not good at all, I'm merely using it to accentuate getting meat for bioengineering and Creature Handling. I doubt I'll be able to master Rifleman with wanting to master both CH and Bioengineer as well, somewhat sad, but I might get bored of CH eventually and just keep my bioengineering business whilst carrying on with rifles.

So you recommend Strafe Shot as an attack? To be honest I've never actually considered it a good attack. Is it a lot better than most of the lower attacks.

I was just wondering what combinations of spices/food/drinks people are using to compensate for the high HAM costs of the better rifles. I know moun gold is among the absolute favorites, but what can be taken to counter the 'downer' period?

that angerian fishank or w/e that is, and the glazed glucose. take the fishank with the moun, then when u hit your downer, pop in a glazed glucose to settle in with the fishank. thats how i do it anyway

It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm solo hunting something tough then I eat a hit of muon gold and spam headshot 3. When I do this I don't even touch my ham bar. When I'm hunting with friends I have some correlian fried ice cream. The stuff I have buffs your focus about by about 400. I eat this if I need to do something other then autoshoot for any period of time. All of my mind ham is maxed and I'm a wookie using a t21.

Why I like the spice so much. You can take a lot more a lot faster. Muon gold lasts 10 mins and buffs 500 to all of your mind stats. It's downtime is 3 mins. I can usualy run two missions if there close in that time.

Food does not buff nearly as high, and if it does it only hits one stat from what I've seen. My stomach bar takes forever to go down. I haven't timed it but I can eat ice cream about once every 30 mins.

Now there is a chef food revamp coming, and the imperial crackdown on spice. So my habits could very well change.

Buy crates of the best Breath of Heaven you can find. If you are human, and can get buffed easily, max your focus, BoH will add between 400-500 to focus, strength, and quickness, which are the ones that determine your ham cost for using specials. This lasts quite a while, and they have no downer. If you find your mind bar really low, you can use fishak suprise for a quick 400 boost if you havent used any drinks yet, or muon gold, which will add 500 to all your mind stats. fishak and muon can act as "mind stims" in an emergancy.

Also, you may want to wait until the next patch to come out (the chef revamp), because they are adding/changing a bunch of foods. Ive heard you can get BoH that add 1200 to focus and last for half an hour!

Speed sliced T21 with a speed powerup or a laser rifle is probably the best gun for levelling. If your'e trying to level fast, go straight to counter-sniping 3 for flushing2, the best area attack besides strafeshot2. I'll recommend you level on Dantooine taking quenker missions. Before you have flushingshot2, get within range of 1 mob at a time, kill it and move onto the next. After you have countersniping3 and flushingshot2, sit at 60m from the lair, aim at the lair and spam flushingshot2. The quenkers will die before they reach you as long as you're shooting fast enough - meaning using speed powerups and a speed sliced gun. If any do reach you, keep a spraystick handy for killing them while they're in close range to you. You'll be able to complete close to 10 missions an hour and will get massive amounts of xp. Many folks that have levelled this way have been able master riflemen in a very short time - 10 hours or so if you're really serious about it. 75% kinetic ubese with doctor buffs, 2 brandies and an ahrisa or two is all you will need to do these missions nonstop without a hassle.

Or, you can use similar tactics and have a bit more fun at levelling by visiting POIs like the squill cave on tatooine or the ewok caves on endor.

Hey

I'm almost novice rifleman/Master BH - of course going Master Rifleman at some point.
I have a few questions for you experienced riflemen.
1) I'm human, will, in the end, hunt jedi unarmored. But for now I'll keep armors on. How should my stats look when I'm master. I.e hunting unarmored. And how should my stats look like till then. I.e Armored?
2) Which rifles should I use and at which times? Till I get novice rifleman, what is good? When I have novice, T21 with speed slice? And at master. Should I explore other good rifles? Like that acid thingy?
3) What is good to hunt? Yesterday I went hunting naffs with a tusken rifle. Was terrible. Took years and drained my mind to extremes. Anything better or should I just keep with this till I get novice?
4) What specials are good PvE vise and which are good iin PvP.

Keep in mind that I am completely new to rifles. Was a master Pistoleer before, so the contrast is obvious!
