Thread: Anyone else feels that the new powerup decay is too much?
I played about 1-2 hours last night and lost 100 condition on my T21. This is almost forcing me to not use powerups. I use a 33% max dmg / 16% mind cost powerups on all my rifles.
Why shall we now suffer from this new decay? Do they want everyone to be BH/Commandos who use Heavy Weapons? They can't use powerups and don't need too.
Rifles suck without powerups AND slices. The damage is way too low and the HAM costs are WAY to high.
Without powerups I don't hit nearly as hard AND It takes more mind to shoot.
If I had 10 secs in a battle with maybe 2 kills I now have 8 secs with no kills before my mind is drained.
No matter what I do I have to use moun gold, only thing that keeps me alive is that I pretty fast can kill whatever im shooting at, but thats not possible anymore.
Think I'll just start grinding to get BH/Commando atleast I'll be able to keep my weapons. Flamers takes months to decay. My guildmate have had the same flamer all the way from Novice to Master! I can destroy my T21 in one day. Whats up with this?
I think that the devs needs to know how this affects us. Im not sure they know that it will just give people more reasons go go hybride with heavy weapons.
Let me know what you say about this matter.
I hate the whole decay thing, I simply hate the "upkeep" thing. I like being able to play a lot then know I have reached a certain level so I can log on for a couple of hours a night and just do what I want.
With this change plus the new decay upon death I'll be spending a lot more time running around doing nothing, which is bad and takes away my enjoyment of the game.
I've been grinding missions the last couple of days just to affort the rifles that decay by me doing the missions.. anyone see something is wrong with that?
I totally agree with this. I mean I am going to be picking up commando soon as a 2nd profession just because I can do very well with a rifle but nowhere near as good as I should be doing. Plus you are right. The devs are just ignoring us. Their agenda is very simple. Add more and more content and hope no one sees the huge bugs in it. At the same time ignore all the regular problems with the software. I work for a computer company and sad to say they do exactly the same thing. The only time they fix something is when it hinders their ability to bring in money.

Its not so much that I am not annoyed by this, but the fact that I am Just tired of not being heard. I Express my dissatisfaction with something, offer suggestions and nothing is ever fixed... the rifleman class is dying. Dont Believe me? Stand in Coronet asking for training in Expert concealment Tacticsand see how many people ask you if thats a Smuggler skill, not to mention you will never get said training.
with every "update" more and More go over to the commando or BH Side and who can blame them? seriously. Commandos are "Rebalanced" and now melt down AT-STs in seconds... while EVERYTHING else is being nerfed. Im Reallyshocked they havent Nerfed a chefs Skillet yet

Sorry Off track here.... Point is no amount of screaming, crying, b****ing, complaining, whinning, snivelling, begging, pleading, praying, or human virgin sacrifices will fix anything. the Devs have their own agenda, they give a F**** about us. In the end I know that I Do hold the ultimate power though, when I've had enough of this Bull----- they are trying to pass of as Star Wars, My cancelled subscription just may be a determining factor in someone being laid off.
The gentleman from Austin votes "Total Agreement".
"Annoying" is just the first word in a long list that comes to mind. And probably one of the nicer words in the list. This was totally a NON-ISSUE in the game... nobody from novice to master had a problem with it, and now they've created a whole newgame-play issue!
I was lucky enought to make master about the time it went live. So now I can survive with my speed and with strafe shot2. I quit using power-ups because I cant afford to replace my weapons on a daily basis. Now I've decided to only use powerups on cheap, mid-damage rifles that I can replace relatively cheaply. This means I spend a lot more timesearching for bargain lasers that I dont mind ruining withpower-ups.

I could understand if weaponsmiths were having a hard time making cash and repeat sales, but they're not. By all accounts weaponsmiths are some of the richests characters in the game.
I'd just like to mention and clear up what appears to be this common misconception. It's like assuming every software company that ever spurts into existence is as rich as Microsoft. The first handful of weaponsmiths are perhaps quite rich (but you know what - the richest people are probably resource miners) - but the vast majority of us are just keeping afloat. I personally have to run survey missions constantly - I don't go anywhere without picking up a survey mission or two to cover travel expenses.
I sell maybe 10 guns a week. That pretty much just keeps my mines running and my house from going down in flames. I think I price pretty well. I make guns pretty much on par with our top weaponsmiths but people will pay double, if not triple, what they could from me to buy from them.
That being said, I am a rifleman as well as a weaponsmith and do not like the idea of weapon decay especially for powerups. As someone mentioned the only way to stay viable is to tool up our rifles as much as we can, but now in doing so they lose condition quickly, coupled with what appears to be basically horrible chances even for weaponsmiths to repair a weapon successfully. And I only use my rifle for self defense mostly - I can imagine the strain for rifle using folks.
Kershakk...
I believe you, man. I was dealing with a popular weaponsmith on my server who I assumed was filthy rich... (nice shop, several vendors, nice selection, good weapon stats) and after an extended conversation ended up offering to lend him money so he could get his lates batch sliced! He declined because he had some other stuff working, but needless to say I was surprised. And I had less than 100K when i offered!
And furthermore, you are right about the miners. I have another friend who runs several mining machines and he is now up near a million credits in the bank! And that is just his secondary hobby! He's working on Commando most of the time. And because I know him so well, I know that most of that money has come in just the last month (or less).
Yes, it's very sad. They are sucking the life out of the craft. Being a rifleman and weaponsmith - I toiled long and hard to try come up with a nice combination rifle for us to use - bust my behind off every day keeping up with resources, just waiting for the right stuff to spawn and maybe make a redeeming rifle.
Then they bring in uber loot.
And instead of all this work I could have just spent all my points in combat, had fun, and run an empire of harvesters with minimal effort and make millions of credits and go loot nice rifles. It's amusing to see combat folks complain about crafters trying to rip them off when without them (us)this dead easy cash cow of resource mining would vanish.
People think we complain because we no longer reap millions of credits. Of course, they're the power hungry people who just assume everyone else works like them. For me it was the professional pride - I never went into the biz thinking about how much pretend money I can make. I have little use for pretend money, save for allowing me to continue the quest in always pushing harder to make that extra special rifle, and feel happy knowing riflemen everywhere depended on the rifles I've toiled to research and make. It's not about how rare these uber loots are (yeah, like Holocrons are rare right?) - it's just the knowledge that no matter how much I try the best rifle will always be some NPC loot. That's what I was into weaponsmithing for.
All gone now.
Yay.
