I want to be helpful to my guild. I want to be useful. I want to be able to defend my bases. I want to be able to survive in PvP.

I'm a bounty hunter / carbineer, but apparently there's no way to be effective in PvP unless you're a rifleman spamming advanced strafe and sniper.

So what's the best way to level up rifleman/Fencer/Whatever else I need to be a temploiter like everyone else is? Give me advice on how to be overpowered like you are.

Yeah, okay, sorry, I don't really mean that, I'm just frustrated as hell right now. I just got done with defending a base from 8 riflemen, 3 TKM's, and a couple random classes. The only times I EVER died were from riflemen spamming advanced strafe and sniper shot, and the only kills we got were against those random classes that tagged along. And when 90% of the PvP content in the game is temploiters who're killing you from 64m away, it gets really, really frustrating and hard to enjoy anymore.

HeHA, we are in the same boat, I too was a bounty hunter and am now going rifleman, all I can say is either quenkers or the geonosian caves, I'm on day 3 today at the caves and I went from novice to 2/1/0/3.

Heh, I started doing some rifleman a few days ago aswell, got a few boxes on the way then realized how much I utterly hate rifles and dropped it again. Nothing beats carbines

I love my carbine. I love full auto, charge shot, action shot 2, and the BH skills I use.

But when 90% of all the PvP ends up being :

XXXXX uses advanced strafe shot on you for 250 damage.
You shoot at XXXXX, but miss!
XXXXX uses advanced strafe shot on you for 250 damage.
you shoot at XXXXX, but miss!
XXXXX uses advanced strafe shot on you for 250 damage.
XXXXX uses advanced strafe shot on you for 250 damage.
You shoot at XXXXX, but miss!
XXXXX uses advanced strafe shot on you for 250 damage.
You have been incapacitated.
XXXXX uses sniper shot on you for 50 damage.
You have been slain by XXXXX!
You have lost 45 points of imperial faction.

Then I start to wonder why the hell I even bother with it anymore...

Maybe i'm out of the loop. but latly i find headshot 2 and 3 more usful in pvp then strafe....then again i uped my mind at the cost of my hp and action so i guess that helps it too since the shot drains all 3 bars heheh. oh and not sure if this is helpful but to all those attempting to kill a rifleman...strafe shot have a stance change so their is a delay beyond the normal fiing delay to the attack...and its area effect... hehehe...

"I'm a BH/Carbineer now. 0/0/0/3 in Carbines (Working towards 0/0/3/4) and so far 2/2/3/4 in bounty hunter (Working towards MBH)"

Lol, you are not even Master Carbineer and you are complaining about how l33t Rifleman is. You shouldn't even be attempting PvP unless you are a master of an elite combat profession. I agree that Carbineer by itself is kind of crappy but that does not mean that Riflemen are unbeatable. I think Rifleman kind of sucks actually because of their accuracy at close range. They can't even hit me after the defense stacking nerfs. Here is a combat log of a duel with a Master Rifleman starting at 64 m.

The Riflemen can shoot the mind but they don't have uber defenses unless they are a stacker and they can't cause a dizzy/knockdown like a Carbineer/BH can.

Dont blame riflemen for beating you in PvP, blame your templetes. Im looking at your sigs and i see; master weaponsmith carbineer and scout, ranger , pistoleer. Who colud you actually kill with those builds?

Don't underestimate a carbineer with +90 speed, I've taken down fully buffed and armored Riflemen/TKM's with my current template and I'd like to see a pure rifleman beat me in a duel. Only ones I have problems with beating is people who have pure pvp templates but I guess that doesn't come as a shock to you

And I'm not blaming riflemen for anything, I just don't like rifles and this is not because I get killed by every rifleman I come across.

But what's the point of any profession compared to Riflemen?

T21's hit the speed cap at Master, making them hit just as fast as Pistols/Carbines. Strafe2, HS3, and SniperShot are easily three of the best specials in the game. I watched a rifleman take down an AT-ST in under a minute using Strafe2 with a T21, making them as effective (If not more) as Commandos, plus the T21 doesn't have charges.

I don't want to be the generic Rifleman / Fencer / TKM template that everyone and their pet uses. I wanted to be something interesting. I picked BH because I thought it might give me some power in PvP and let me hunt Jedi. But with 80% of my enemies going master rifleman to spam advanced strafe / snipershot all day long, it makes me wonder why I try anymore.

soooo your saying that a near raw novice BH and a carbineer with only 3 boxes of carbines should beat someone who has liekly mastered 2 or more professions???

i was a masterBH and they whooop the hell out of rifle users when played right, when they dabble their other 33 points into pistol or carbine they are pretty well off in PVP terms. personally i dont like BH because all you CAN do is PvP and in a turn based environment like MMORPGs pvp is more about who has the better macro and luck than any real skill.

Rifleman isn't overpowered as such, it's more than 90% resists to all except stun armour and doc buffs mean the only easy way of killing people is poisons or stun mind damage.

Take away the Jawa and/or headshot and you'll halve the rifleman population overnight.

Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, n00b whiners always make me laugh.

I also have a master BH/3-0-0-4 Carbineer(Went speed it's better to me to use any carbine at one shot per second), you don't even know what your talking about.

I have 4 KD's if it comes to it to get someone on the groud, Dizzy-Stun-Blind, and a hell of alot of meaness. So what your Telling us you want a Master Rifleman(Only master has strafe 2) to equal a novice carbineer or novice BH? Sorry thats dumb.

If you were a Master BH complaining maybe you'd have a point, but first you'd have to understand why the system makes Rifleman/CM overpowering(Armor+75% PVP damage Reduction+ Mind Damage+Buffs) and I'm sure you just read the nerfherders and never looked at the entire system.

I find this to not be entirely accurate. While during conventional firing with my 90 rifle speed and 7.5 speed damage-sliced T-21 I -do- hit the cap, the delay for things like strafe2 and Headshot3 means I spam specials at 1 every2 or 2.5 seconds. Most people come across rifle speed tapes to help them with this, I just haven't gotten any yet (besides a single +1 armor attatchment ). To my knowledge, Master Pistoleers and Carbineers spam specials at the 1 second cap regardless.
