Keldarinhas reported to me that they are aware that there is some issue currently with "Block" and they will be looked at durning the Combat Balance.

When is the combat balance? From the new State of the Game letter it seems like it won't be coming out until sometime in the unforseeable future rather then __'ish.

sounds like the block issue is now on the "as soon as we have a chance to fix it" list... which is better than the "there is a pikeman profession?" list... so YAY!

i am glad they learned their lesson from the crafting fiasco. i dont mind waiting for the combat revamp. i would rather wait an extra publish or two than have a combat version of the crafting fiasco foisted on us.

Wait a second, don't get your hopes up just yet. Block is also a Pikeman issue too, therefore it might be on the second list after all.

I sure hope Block is Fixed / Tweaked soon, Pikeman need this skill to work properly to be as viable a Melee Prof as Fencer and Swordsman.. They need it a lot more than we need it.. heh!

A lot of people, rifleman and otherwise, think that riflemen deserve a nerf.


Maybe they could just remove block from us, and leave our specials/speed/damage/defenses alone.


I could live with that, hell, i think i already live with that.

If u are a fellow rifleman plz stop asking to have rifleman nerfed. I cannot go into the geo cave alone and solo that cave like I see TKA's doing it. Even with my pets I have a hard time and die often. We have great attacks but our defenses suck! Even if u choose a template that has melee your only going to get a couple of shots off before the mob will move within melee range which means your not going to use much of your rifleman skills. Strafeshot 2 is extermely powerful but also extremely risky because the whole mob can turn on u at once, so it doesn't own. Concealshot takes all day to kill anything. Headshot 3 KILLS your mind.

I guess a Rifle is seen to be a large weapon like a Polearm and should give you a chance to Block a melee attack.. Don't ask me how you can block a Blaster Bolt though.. heh!


I think they should have had unique skills for each combat class, instead of 3 stackable skills.. Just my opinion


But it is good that the devs are looking into Block and how it functions.

dude, get a clue...

1. our defenses definitely do not suck. our STATE defenses suck, true.. but for ranged/melee defense, we're one of the top 3 profs.

2. Strafe2 does own for pure DPS. no other attack in the game can do as much damage in as little time to mulitple targets, and only TKM's can do that kind of damage per second to single targets.

3. The only thing that takes me a long time to conceal shot to death is a krayt dragon, or other high end content. that stuff usually gets the "1 pt bleed" effect long before you can conceal it to death. I can conceal an AT-ST in a couple of minutes.

4. Headshot 3, or any other rifle special, is easily countered by vaserian brandy and vegerian canape. 0 cost specials are not hard, and no longer require master musician buffs.

5. as for the "mix with melee" comment-- go prone from 60m. you'll get more than "a few" shots off before you're engaged. There's nothing normal that I can't get more than half dead before it even knows it's being shot.

the only point I agree with you on is not being able to solo the geo cave. But, that doesn't bother me in the slightest-- I don't think we should be able to.

For the rest of the stuff, it sounds to me like you're not playing our profession anywhere near it's true ability.

Well the melee to hit modifier is meant to counter our melee defenses and make us with the worst melee for a ranged profession. Seeing how this just got fixed to work correctly we can see if this is the case and have it adjusted accordingly, however simply pointing at half of the equation and declaring us overly defensive isn't the best way to look at a profession.

As for the other ones, well I don't want this thread to become a flame-fest besides most of your points are true whether that is the intention or not is chalked up to the ambiguosness of the developers etc.

you know.. that's a really good point, chipmunk...

why do we have melee defense at all if there's a melee to hit bonus against us?

why didn't they just zero out our melee defense? or reduce it by whatever the to hit bonus is?

isn't it kind of stupid to give us a melee defense bonus, making it harder for us to be hit in melee, and then adding in a melee attacker's bonus making it easier for us to be hit in melee?
