So..... my post got closed, and locked.

So..... my post wasn't contructive.

Let me see if I can make it nicer.

I was recently ravaged by a rifleman, and was considering how to beat them. There, at the moment are not very many possibilities. I do the food, buff, etc thing, and still, the jawa ion rifle comes through, everytime. No matter the range, if they are armored, or buffed. They eat food/drink and can easily pop off many shots, without considerable drain to their mind, as they can stand very far back, and if needed kite. So I was wondering, if you, the riflemen, can think of a way to beat... yourselves (if you weren't riflemen). The only way I can see is for you to have a your own army of them trailing you. I really don't see a DOWNSIDE to being a rifleman, other than the fact the grind to become one is slow, stupid, and borish. You have excellent damage, several damage types, good defense mods, and have long range. The only reason I'm not one, is that I really don't like ranged weapons, so I was wondering if you could think of anyway to beat yourselves. I am a Master Fencer/Master TKA/Master Brawler/Novice Medic

I use COB, and I am still hit 90% of the time. I know its not broken, because I tanked the Ackley for my group in the Geo caves. So any suggestions? I don't see many weaknesses.

Thx

It doesn't matter how much defense you have, any ranged class will just kite you until you die.

There are many ways to beat us, But I really don't like to say of them as well, it's not good to spread ideas on how to bring your class down. I can go down to a certain class in 2-3 hits, just to let you know, and I would be on muon, 2 BE Brandies, Mind buff, Musician buff, full doc buffs, the works. It doesn't take someone very long to know how to beat another class, just basically takes experience and well in my opponent's case, a very nice weapon.

*sigh* i think you're just not saying anything because there arn't. OR your opponent had a VERY VERY VERY Nice weapon. Or you're not playing YOUR class correctly

  1. Get a decent stun resist helmet (like 30-40% range) and tons of PSGs (make sure to check them before battle).

  2. Dancer/musician buffs, food/drink, andmuon are your friends. Don't forget to /powerBoost either.

  3. /intimidate2, both intimidate effects will reduce their damage by roughly 50% as well as reduce their defenses (the second one just seems to last forever). Stun has similar effects, lay that on too if you get a chance. Don't forget blind either!

  4. Getting kited? /warcry2, then /peace before you get a hit in. That should buy you some time to catch up

  5. Still getting kited? /burstRun to catch up, then go for the dizzy/kd (or even better, use posture change). Remember /lunge2 has that nifty 20m range

  6. Still getting kited?!? Take cover, make them come to you.

  7. Get a good stun baton, and keep it powered up. Use scatter hit 2 since it damages 2 pools at once. This means you're doubling your chance of hitting the mind and also of hitting the armor hole (may not matter if they're alreadyvulnerable to stun).

  8. Make a Center of Being macro for Fencer, if you don't have one. (don't bother with a TK one, it doesn't work).

  9. Getting low on mind? Just start spamming /forceOfWill before you get incapped (and pray it works this time), as most rifleman won't give you much time before the snipe.

  10. Still can't beat them after all that? They're likely rifleman/CM, if so go find a Doc and/or enjoy the trip to the clone center.

Something tells me I'll get 1 starred for posting this here, but there's 10 semi-obvious tips to engaging a Rifleman (or Riflewoman) with melee only skills.

Edit: Fixed spelling/grammar errors

Uhhh,

Is this another "I'm a melee and should be able to beat all ranged people at 50m or greater distance every time" post?

How about using a ranged weapon for starters? What are you expecting, to catch the bullets like Quai-Chain-Kang from "Kung Fu"?
