Thread: A reply I made in teh /healmind? thread in Doctor.
In every PVP encounter I have seen, or have been in, the only thing damaged was the mind. Either through Eye shot or Mind Shot. Doctors are Irrelevant and are usually first hit. It has pretty much turned into a Bounty Hunter/Rifleman world (in my eyes).There is noneed for NERF cry or anything.If they change (not nerfed) these attacks to damage the Health/Action bars instead, then both the Bounty Hunters and Riflemen still havean awsome attack (as they should) andlets other classescontribute to a fight (or have a chance).
As I have friends in all classes I posted this here to get Rifelman replies (also posted in Bounty Hunter Forum.)
Umm so you want to take away mind damage and give us health damage in return?
I'm sorry but changing an attack that attacks the only HAM pool that can't be healed to a pool that can be healed sounds like a nerf to me.
Could it be, the reason you do not see anyone losing health/actionin a fight is because those said doctors are healing them for 1000 health/action every couple of seconds.
Oh well at least we could whine a lot because they could no longer dismiss us with "you do mind damage".
As a Doctor myself that would be true if wehad a chance to heal the damage. Am not trying to nerf any class. There is a major imbalance in the game with Pistols and Carbines shooting as far as rifles do (which I disagree with) You should be able to peg (with possible 1 shot Kill) a Pistoleer long beforehe ever gets close enough to deal damage to you.A Rifelman/Sniper should be able to kill a target or severly wound him with one shot (Hence Sniper) and that shot (being a powerful one)should be a non stackable knockdownBleeding shot. Now a Doctor might be able to heal that wound (stop or decrease the bleeding)but by the time he heals you the Doctor himself should be getting shot at (Rifle speeds should be a lot faster 7-9 are too long)and barring a miss you should beable to killa target. If you miss or the Doctor goes for you instead of healing his pal you might get hurt, but thats all part of the game.
With mind Bleed as it stands you can pretty much incap more than one targetand when both are down you canDB them with little effort. Because there is no defence againstit.
But we can still have a heavy mind cost for special usage right? *crosses fingers*

I do applaude you for being intelligent enought to realize just how unfairly out of balance rifles are against the other weapons. As a rifleman I should be able to attack another player well out of range of a pistol or carbine. What's up with an melee attack hitting you at 15m +? That's a hell of a reach for a non-ranged weapon. Regardless of how screwed the ranges are, even the devs keep repeating the fact that rifleman are touted for being able to attach a non-healable HAM pool. But we aren't the only ones...........Combat Medics can use poison to deal mind damage. From a considerable distance as I understand, through walls even. In all fairness.......should a doctor be able to stuff someone's brains back into their skull and send them back off into the battle? I don't agree with that. Dealing mind damage that no one can heal is our ONLY saving grace.
we rifleman have often asked for longer range... for greater damage.. and the dev always told us no. our advantage is that we hit mind.. though our DPS is low (til we reach master), and even then BH can beat our DPS.
rifleman also uses mind to shoot (killing ourself + long cooldown)..
with the knockdown+posture change nerf, doc/CM is already gonna be the flavor of the month.... they can easily whoop 5-6 players (other than swords/TKA/rifle/BH), and heal away with their 2.5k health/action... and the new 30 secs knockdown immunity..
see.. rifle has tons of weaknesses... (2.5x damage on melee, CRAP accuracy, same range... no good special attack other than ranged DB)... thats to offset our mind damage...
doc on the other hand (as a doc)... are great as it is... best buffs in the game... can resurrect.. can heal other players with amazing speed/heal.. can heal self with decent speed/crazy heal...as for the mind.. its not a disadvantage (cause everyone else can only get 1100 mind also.. more or less)... its just is..
what u're asking is to basically make doctor invincible. I'm a doctor too.. a master surgeon... so i know i can heal 2k hp with stim Ds easily..
the thing is, if you make swordsman/rifleman do regular damage.. who the hell would wanna use them over pistol/carb? its nice that u think we should get longer range/bigger damage... but until the boost happen, don't even think to nerf first.
Zar the one thing I don't want to do is make Doctors Invinceable.
Was just that had heard so many people cry about nerf this and that cause Bounty Hunters and Rifleman do Mind Damage and no one can defend against it. Was just trying to find away to not nerf any professions but make it in such a way that there was at least some measure of defense against their attacks. Maybe we need to lower Stim D's and such or make them only usable on pets, that way you can't instantly heal when attacked. Or when Engaged in PVP lower their heal ratio to that of the new damage ratio (if a weapon only does 25% of damage in PVP then Meds only do 25% heals).
I agree with alot of what's been said here, it just re-affirms that what i'm doing is a great idea. there are just barly enough skills points to become a master rifleman (hope and prey to eventually get there) and be a master docter, both require high mind pool and the doc side can buff you up against the non-rifleman. I'll admit this post is a little off topic but a good idea for some of you wondering what else to do with your life.
