Thread: Riflemen nerf no one mentioned
Its still a problem I feel. In order to perform at your very best in PvP, you have to have a pet, its sad.
Maybe I'm biased though, because on the CH debate, I stand on the side of "No non-CH should have a pet capable of combat".
Pet Wars.
Aldeon forgets that not all riflemen are master riflemen. He does that a lot, you'll have to forgive him. The world is nothing but sunshine and dandelions in his universe.
You bring up a good point. This change hurt us more than it hurt pistoleers or carbineers, which brings us back to something I've been saying: the melee damage bonus needs to be the same for all of the ranged weapons. There's no reason to penalize pistoleers less than riflemen when it comes to being hit by melee. Rifles already suffer a point-blank accuracy penalty, isn't that enough?
And soon they're putting in a change for pets: when you tell your pet to attack something, it will continue to attack that target, it won't be so easily swayed to attack something else. This means that even if you have your own L15 pet, putting your pet on his pet won't stop his pet from hitting you.
Once you get to Headshot3, Sniper Shotand then StrafeShot2, you'll be able to kill other people pretty quick, but as a novice rifleman you're in more trouble than most other professions would be at your level.

no CL15 pets have AR1.
Oh? I can think of about three offhand. Was a MCH long ago=P
Ill give you a couple tips for fighting pets in general in pvp.
1
warning shot works on them in pvp, use a spraystick if you don't have much time to get the mob off you.
2
if you alrdy have the owner of the pets incapped, unequip your weopon until you can db him. This will eliminate the huge dmg penalty for the rifle.

Use buildings. If a pet is chasing you run into a building the current ai/pathing will allow you to escape most the time. Buildings are also a great way to avoid dmg in general, especially if you want to do bleed and run type pvp fighting.
Rifleman is one of the few classes, you have to level to get better. Why? DPS, its not about damage its about DPS, its a different story if your one shotting people. But you dont anymore, and you know how Rifleman get better DPS? They level, or they get a 32 percent speed powerup, with a max speed slice.
Assuming a not so good weapon, 6.0 speed. Witha master Smuggler, you can get up to 40, but lets be realistic, it takes some awsome resources to get that. So lets say 30 percent, then a 32 percent power up. I have seen 33 percent power ups, but usually there 32, not sure about your servers and the resources however, they might be lower.
6.0x.7=4.2 (slice)
4.2x(1.00-.32) =2.8
Thats one fast rifle for 100 shots, now that you can buy them in crates, and there fiarly cheap, I usually by a crate of 10 for 1k-2k. But bieng a rich peace of crap, I buy them in 100s. There are alternatives if your not master riflema. Now of course your not going to be doing huge damage, but atleast you have the speed. You can do 32 speed/16 max dmg. Base laser Rifle on Starsider is 28-354 6.0 speed, now I know you can make a whole lot better on most servers. But a weapon that is 28-354 2.8 speed, is one hell of a weapon. Not to mention, a medium rifleman, getting his slight bonus, wich will help out.
Mostly non-CH pets were put in, to prepare for mounts, there not meant for PvP, becuase there easy kills. Average is 2100-3100 HP pets, with 15-30 percent resists. I think the gurrek is the highest HP one, 3100, but it only has 2 20 percent resists, and a few 15.
Im un-aware of CL 15 pets with AR1, I use the guide mostly, and my Master CH. Rockbeetles, and gurreks seem to be the most popular, and I dont beleive there AR1. Most servers have the Laser Rifle, so you gain a bonus to it anyways
Im not sure if any servers dont have laser rifles anymore, I know starsider just got them yesterday
