Thread: Riflemen nerf no one mentioned
Twoother tactics that make this happen alot less.
1. You can change or eleminate the profession tag over your head. If I go into PvP with a sign that says Sniper over my head I get all the attention I deserve. Either turn it off or set it to something else (novice scout).
2. dont defaultcarry the T-21. They are very noticeable. As a carry weapon consider the E-11 or spraystick. The E-11 looks like a carbine, the spraystick a pistol. You can switch weapons faster than you can shoot, so you can easilly use the best weapon for any shot.
It is all about not being noticed until it is too late for the other side. The first seconds of a fight are critical. If the enemy has a choice of sending a pet to hit a bounty hunter, sniper or unknown, guess which is the LAST choice. While it is cool to walk around with a T-21 and sniper tag in normal events, it is asking for quick attention in combat. Change your look to something non threatening, then take advantage of their misconception.
What we did ?!?!? Where !!! I so want to get something better than this DL20a I've been runnign around with for for to long now. But it does put up some serious numbers! I would really like to try a Laser rifle however where Can I find one on Starsider? Who can make me one on StarSider?

Im usually succesful in taking down the owner and DBing him before the pets get to me. Besides the best CL15 pet has 3k HP. Thats a one shot with a laser rifle

I'm usually dead by then...remember knockdown. <grin>
I agree with RueKursk. I thought the idea behind adding pets (for all) was because it would be fun to have one from a RP point of view but not to add a significant combat advantage? The way it is now you have to get a pet if you want an edge in PvP.
Aldeon, sometimes us rifleman are not searching forsolo target to2 shot. What happens in a group situation or when you're suprised. All they have to do is send a fast pet on you which you now have to deal with or die. Choose to deal with it and they now have the initiative advantage. Large groups could send a pet against each rifleman they are facing and force them to waste precious time which a rifleman needs to get that shot off before we're engaged close range. You will see how big a problem this becomes especially with the upcoming pet patches that allow players to send pets from much farther away than it is now. I could understand it when a CH handler does this to me because hehas skill points invested to get that advantage. But now every class without any investment can have an advantage.
Personally i have come to find the some basic CH is far more valuable that the entire ranged weapon support. Well if you are a scout or ranger anyways actually that would be the only way it would be more benefical.
As Rifleman / Ranger (planning to be me master in both) and Novice CH and Tame 1 & Train 1 i can have Greater Sludge Panther 8K Hams, Hits for about 250 every 2 secs. as good as a pistol. And you get enough to have 2 in you data pad, just cant call them both at once.
This has now become my body guard and my friend. It is helping me to progress far quicker than anyone of the ranged weapon support skills where. I didnt actually use them.

Besides, you could just get your own pet to intercept theirs halfway. Pets are stupid and will ignore all orders and attack whatever is attacking them.
For a couple of more days you can do that. Changes are coming to fix pet commands and make pets stay on target.
Aldeon I think you're missing my point, yes the pet is weak and can be taken relatively easily. But every other class (except Carbineer maybe) can completely ignore the pet and focus on the enemy. Therefore the pet addition is an indirectRifleman nerfsince it affects no other class.

Yes using a title not related to rifleman can really help in pvp.
Just to add to this idea, there was a guy I see from time to time who seemed to have more titles then possible with 250 skill points. For example I saw him using the master dancer title, master commando title and expert baker ina 2day timeframe. I sent the guy a tell asking "how in the world can you have all these titles?".
Well he replies and tells me/setcurrentskilltitlecommand will allow you to set your title to any of the titles in the game regardless of what skills you have. You have to type the proffession title you want in the correct format so expect to play around with the command a little. If you really wanted to throw people off though you could use this command to make yourself appear to be a master bounty hunter for instance hehe.
/setcurrentskilltitle was meant to be fixed in todays patch. I'm running around as Master Commando at the moment. ![]()
