Thread: Rifleman or Fencer

I'm trying to choose between the two, I know they are both good professions, but I want to knbow which has the uperhand advantage over the other. Please tell me your opinion and no I dont have enough skillpoints left for both.

My advice is to go through Fencer 1-4 andRifleman 1-4, and see which one you have more fun with. I did the same recently and decided to go with Rifleman (4 more boxes until Master... C'MON BABY!).

Its not that one has the upperhand over the other, it's about how mobile you will be (lots more mobs to kill and all that mind-damage in PvP) and your overall effectiveness. With tkm/rifleman you will be total damage from 0 to 64m.

Depends


Fencer Got:


COB, Blind, and dodge(much better then block)


Rifleman Got:


Heavy Quick Damage and you can hit your targets from a great distance



If you like using Ranged weapons go rifleman, if you like great defence and can live without ranged attacks go fencer.

Since the combat rebalance is coming in the next 2 months, I think everything will change. As stated, weapons and the speed of attacks will all change in the combat rebalance. I'll bet that Rifleman will be slower and keep the damage output. I've heard of mind becoming healable through stims and so forth as well, I'll believe it when I see it. So you know in some way the Rifleman profession as it is now will change, only question is will you like the change.


Fencer, hmmm besides their defenses I dont know how they can be nerfed.... speed wise they are ok(they are supposed to be the speedprofession for mele afterall)and their weaponshave ap0 for the most part so I dont see a problem there either. And the fact that they will get dual weapons soon, I'm personally going to go Fencer as my long term investment.


Bottom line, I think Rifleman is great (currently I'm 4/1/0/4) with very few negatives (one being its the longest combat grind I've ever had!!!!).Its going to change though,usuallywhen a change happens and your at the top of the food chain, its not going to be pretty.

So my old build was Master fencer/ 4404 CM. I could take out almost anyrifleman i felt like. however im now going rifleman (have a very nice template inmind) and if u do just make sure u have some sorta defence, ie. doc or tk.

Both. Recently picked up fencer with 4004 tka for some added defenses and power boost to go with my master riflemen. No other prof can compare to the damage you deal as a riflemen, but....if you end up on your back flopping like a fish cause a meleer caught you off guard you still die. In close combat, fencer is the melee prof to be. Center of being and dodge are still extremely difficult to beat and stun batons are still the bestmelee methodto get through armor in pvp. Pretty much the new FOTM from what I'm seeing. If folks aren't rifle/CM's they're rifle/fencer's.

I would say that a good melee combo will beat a ranged one more often than the other. How are you supposed to win a guy you cant hit properly?

Here's why.Riflemen iswatchinghis radar and seesa red dot coming, he examines and sees that it's master fencer/master tka.He starts walking sideways to the fencer.At 64 metershe begins shootingflushing shot at the fencer with a 120+ range modded powered up with a range mod pwp laser rifle, E11 or DXR6. He sticksa stun onthe fencerbeforehe get to 40m, even though the fencer has hit burst run already. The fencer'sdefenses are now mute andthe riflemencould hithim with a pistol from 60 meters ifhe so chose.He switches to HS3 witha krayt jawaand does100 damage per second and realizes within2 shots thatthe fencer has nice stun armor and thathis 3000+ mind is going nowhere.The fencer isnow at 25 meters and he's still moving away.He burst runs and switch tohis T21. Nowhe's doing350 dps tothe fencer'smind. Withhis burst run still going,the fenceris gone approx10 secondslater having never gotten one hit in. Dodge and COB are great, but they make guns that can get through, even if it takes 2 or 3 shots.


A melee prof is great for taking damage and for avoiding being hit, but only so great. If you have no ranged, you are going to die to a ranged master if you do not find a way to get within range of dealing damage to him before he is doing damage to you.


The most effectPVP templates today imo are Doc/Riflemen, Doc/CMor a mix between melee and ranged where you have both ranged damage mitigation 3 and melee damage mitigation 3, fencer COB, TKA power boost, and master riflemen.

who told you I was a TKM?! (lol ) but I guess I'll stick with rifleman as my final choice, it should feel alot like commando. But dont worry a combat balance dosent make me afraid. I dont mind conastantly dropping and picking up skills cause I think grinding is fun (call me wierd lol ). So I'll see you all here soon as soon as I master brawler.

Both professions are good however, the most effective combo has some sort of CM involved. The best PvP are the guys that stack those sick mind poisons on ya. Not much can stop that unless you carry some doc skills. Whichever you choose, get some CM to go along with it and you would be pretty tough to stop.
