Hi,

I am going back to master Rifleman, after leveling it before back in november.but I am having problems

Flushing Shot 2 is acting like Flushing shot 1, in that it is only hitting the critter I have targeted. (Pickets, doggies, Bolle Bols, Fambaa, you name it)

I know it is a Cone fire special, and I know what range to be at for it, but I have tried 62 meters, 55 meters, 40 meters, 30 meters, and point blank while the critters are attacking a pet, or another person, and It is only hitting the creature I am targeting.

Any help here on if any changes that were made to Flushing shot 2 would be great. im scratching my head over this.

hmmm may sound dumb but check and be sure you got a rifle equiped.

also check and make sure your actually using flushing2 and not flushing 1 or some other special.

Only those critters that target you are in the effect. Shoot a female with the male near and he will be in the effect (2nd shot). You want to get them all in, shot the lair once. Not all Pickets BAF. Try this on a true BAF pack (meaning they all do) and you will have better luck.

Do they need to aggro on me now instead of a pet/group member?

I either have a Pet get aggro, or I have amaster Ranger friend with rescue and 80% compositegetting the agro for all of the critters.. Like I did before. I was looking forward to using buckshot again

In a group situation, anything that targets you or a group member should be in the effect. A pet, grouped or not, will cause them to target you as well.

If this is not true now, then this has indeed changed.

they just have to be in combat to be affected by an AOE. its one of the few bugs that rifle is still affected by. but its a cross profession bug not specific to rifle AOE attacks. plus the cone of the AOE isnt that large at the base nearest you. if all the animals are on top of you in melee range your only going to hit one if your just standing there the cone of the attack is too small to cover the ones standing to the side.

the method i used to handle groups inside melee range was to use my exploration scouting skills run up a hillside to slow them a bit to get a small touch of range and a conga line going to get em all in the AOE cone of my attacks. even with a pet to distract them sometimes things get out of hand and you get attacked by monsters that are super-pissed and wont get off you. its a good technique to learn to best effect

It still works on Flurry. I was using flushing2 to kill Pikets and Lizards on Dant just last night. I even used it on Lok to kill Gurk.

Funny thing about the gurk though. I think they are the first animals in the game to kill me in over a month. I had never been a witness to the 6 crazy Gurks that pop out of a lair right before you destroy it. I also had no idea they were that strong. Maybe they just caught me by suprize, but I've had at least 6 or 7 pikets attacking me at the same time while I was helping friends grind and they never came close to killing me. These gurks dropped me fast.

Are there any other lairs that spawn "crazy" stuff right before they blow up? I already know about the joke of a Rancor that pops out, he isn't much different than the normal enraged ones, any others?

the target has to be in combat. This is good if there are targets you dont want to hit (like a quest NPC) and targets you do.... but basically the target has to be in combat mode. So if all the mobs aggro you, you will be able to hit the mobs, or if you are in a group and your group is attacking other mobs you can hit them all, or if you see a few critters or NPCsfighting each other you will be able to AoE them all, etc..

those are the boss spawns-- i.e. those are not normal gurks. higher hams, much higher damage. this is not to be confused with the recluse gurk king, which is a different deal.

like the other guy, i had it happen to me with arachne's on endor. the queen was nasty, nasty.

the uberspawn was put in in publish 6, i think-- and appears to be one creature type at a time per planet. so, if it's gurks on lok, nothing else will pop the extras on that planet.
