Thread: Whats the highest DPS rifle you've seen?
Definition of terms:
DPS = [(MinDmg + MaxDmg) / 2] / AtkSpeed
It seems to me that the higher quality pistols have a higher DPS, in general than the higher quality rifles. If this is so, then our perceived advantage of AR is only an illusion. Hopefully I just have not come across the better rifles yet, but the T-21 post I saw earlier was something like 31 DPS, dont know if this was sliced or unsliced. I have seen a pistol with 57, unsliced. Even with the bonus 50% damage due to AR differences, this still falls short.
I realize it is still very early in the game and it doeslittle good to speculate at this point, but I was just curious to see if anyone else had seen a higher DPS rifle. At the very least, this may be an issue for our correspondent to keep track of.
There are a couple of other factorsI see.
1. Front loading. Two people fire, a pistol, and a rifle. You do 40 DPS, he does 50DPS. But on the first hit, you do (your delay * DPS) in damage, they do (their delay * DPS) in damage. So an 8 speed rifle vs 2 speed pistol...at time = 0, you do 8xDPS damage, they do 2x DPS damage. It takes a while to catch up from that unfortunately. I also suspect pistols are economically paying off more now since so many no combat classes are picking them up (common with CH, medics, smugglers, on top of pistoleers)....better rifles are sure to follow. Not only that, many of the hardcore players exploted rifles early on so never really had a need to push getting good ones in the pipeline ![]()
2. You hit mind pool. We can buff health and action with doctors, we cannot buff mind in the same way. Food and stims can boost all, but doctor buffs enhance E packs..no mind pool boosting. As a rule, on average the pool you hit will be far lower than the pool a carbine or pistol hits (in most cases!!)
3. With pharm 4 I can use stim C and heal for 300 action/health every few seconds. This not only drains mind, but no one can currently put mind back in as a skill. I don't see how someone doing straight action or health can even hope to down a doctor or combat medic.not to mention someone using just Stim C's. (without knockdowns in consideration....)
I think they wanted a varied system, not straightforward. And it is that...
Min
DPS = [(MinDmg + MaxDmg) / 2] / AtkSpeed
I think you missed a term here. Rifle speed of the rifleman doing the shooting. It's an important component considering you're trying to determine a rate of fire.
DPS baced on the wepon is a genraly acepted term. True DPS is based on the player, skill, tools, ect.
Best DPS I have is 31.2 a sliced Lazer Rifle. T-21's are not on Bria yet.
Anyone who says rifles are nerfed obviously hasn't PvPed or dueled with one yet. Mind damage is awesome in and of itself. To top it off, (this is with a laser rifle) I have done slightly over 2500 damage to a single person in one shot. Doesn't matter if their DPS is better, they are dead. Of course I'llhit some 80's witha laser rifle like mine (18-407, 7.5), but on average, I'll hit them for 1000 or more.That's two hits if they have a helmet, one if they don't.
On a side note, if you REALLY just have to have a high DPS rifle, get a Spraystick. Mine is 12-166 with a2.2 delay (post-sliced with damage). I can hit up to 650ish with Headshot 3. Or dizzy/suppress them relatively fast.
First of one of the names on the skill tree of rifleman is sniping. Since when does sniping involve getting close range. I say u either fight better tactivly speaking or get some brawler skills. One powerfull headshot3 then run in there with a two handed weapon with their mindhit and u have one seriously headbashing character.
Garet,
Is that damage rating on your Laser Rifle sliced? If so, what was the damage rating pre-sliced?
I agree with those who said that front loading is very important. It doesn't matter if the pistol has higher DPS. They have crappier range and hit for less damage at once. Doesn't matter if your pistol has 3x the DPS of a rifle, if the first rifle shot kills you. Doesn't matter if your DPS is better, if you miss the first 2 shots because you're not at ideal range.
As far as the best DPS I've seen, it's my Sliced/Weapon Modded rifle: 10-477 damage, 7.1 speed. 34.29 dps! If the slicer had gotten better than 15%, it would have been even better.
