Thread: Use a pet? Please read new dev proposals and reply!
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Developers&message.id=7098&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
As a master carbineer, I rely heavily on my non-CH pet to be able to do terminal generated destroy missions. The new proposals are to lower non-CH pet levels to CL10 max and to make it so that non-CH can only have ONE pet out (be it droid, faction pet, creature or mount) at any one time.
They are also severely nerfing CH dabblers in this same post.
I urge you to read Thunderheart's revelation of the dev plans, and to reply, even if you don't read all 27 pages of replies.
The master CHs are *loving* the changes as it makes them stronger by virtue of making any non-master CH or non-CH that much weaker. They are going to push it through unless the devs see a lot of opposition - but not many non-CHs have noticed the thread yet!
i guess thats how its gonna be
you cant just base everything on what alot of the players want
if 60% of the player population wanted godmode cuz they didnt like dying, would they have to put it in?
would you rather continue having p-o-k-e-m-o-n wars. I dont think they envisionsed that everyone and their grandma would have a cowardly gurreck or taking minimal CH skills and being able to control a GSP!
I hope the dev's dont screw this balancing up...if they do all the changes that I have read, it will bring the CH profession more in line with the other professions. Im working toward Master CH 3/2/1/3 and I think the changes will be good for the game. It will make being a MCH worth it, much like being a MRM.
believe me, its worth it!
See what I mean? Master CH and people on the way to Master CHs love these changes as it screws everybody else. I agree CH is OVERPOWERED - but nerfing non-CHs is completely unfair.
I don't like having to rely on a non-CH pet to tank - but can you *honestly* say that you'd have gotten anywhere *close* to master rifleman without hiding behind your pets? The mechanics in this game are crazy. As a Master, I get level 25 missions from terminals, and there's no way I can even attempt these without some sort of a pet to buy me some firing time. Maybe it's different as a rifleman (I am a carbineer), but I really doubt it from what I have read in these forums.
These changes will make it to that riflemen and carbineers and perhaps even pure pistoleers will need to invest heavily in CH to be able to progress up their combat skill trees unless they have easy access to can the inclination to join hunting groups regularly.
This forced grouping is goign to rub a lot of people the wrong way.
Am glad you're happy, but you're just proving my point - that Master CHs and folks headed to Master CH love these changes as they screw everybody but master CHs.
Mobs stick to pets like glue, no matter how much damage you deal out or heal. Plus people are completely exploiting the class for all the perks with little investment. Myself included, I will just have to dump a few more points into it to make up for the nerf.
Heh, they are giving DE's combat droids like CH. Wanna guess what the next FOTM over powered class is going to be
I planned on getting rid of my droid, but looks like he will still have a bodyguard job.
Non CH should have no pets, zero. Thats why they are NON creature handlers, because the have no CH skill. Good move. Dabblers are what has brought the NERF bat to the CH profession for the longest time. Its about time it addressed. Graul maulers CL is either too low or the stats / resists too high. These changes are a good thing for everyone.
One Faction pet out at a time, Great. No need for One person to run around with small armys.
MCH should be happy. There should be benefit for being a master CH, just like there should be benefit for being a Master in any other profession.
As a CH dabbler myself...(1,1,0,0) I do not like relying on a pet to have time to shoot things.
The fact that getting into groups is at times difficult. Now most things BAF no matter what you shoot them with. Having one of my 3 available meat shields (Klicknik Defenders) makes soloing possible. If the bothered to make their AI even remotely reactive...This would not be a problem.
I dropped Marksman support I-III to retain my pet when I did my final 3 boxes for Master.
Guess I should have dropped my Chef, as they are NEVER going to be fixed.

Good. non-CHers should not use any pet.
