The changes are good.. as you can see in my sig, I fight both sides of the fence. I love pets, but I also have alts that can do without, and very well.
Learn some tactics, use the skillpoints you have, and and you can do without a Rock Beetle.

Having three pets, a probot droid, and three AT-STs has always seemed overpowered to me. It takes the Star Wars Universe out of the genre of a Star Wars game and turns in into another gameentirely different and silly. I welcome the change and support the decision of the devs to do this. I have never used faction perks to hunt and made it all the way to Master with only one pet. There is simply no needfor anyone other than a Master Creature Handler to have one pet. My only complaint with this proposalis that this should have been done well before the retail release.

As a master CH I was a bit ticked off that once again they plan to spend all this time to nerf CH for a second time when so many classes are so broken.......

And yes we worked just as hard to get master CH as anyone else.....And who needs EQUALITY .....Life is not balanced? ....Yes I fully expect to get my as s kicked by a bounty hunter since they focus on ummm killing.....

But when the mounts came out OMG everyone and their freaking grandma IS a CH....I cant beleive it I have CH's yelling at me when I get near their missions so I dont steal their baby mounts....LOL like i need to waist my time but man lets cut all u NON CH's and Dablers out totally. I do not think a BH should have a GSP....nor do I think t2 t2 is enough for the power u get from a grual mauler....BUt here lets just try this..raise the lvl of some creatures u feel are causeing the issuses. Simple solve to the problem in my opinion. Well just my credits worth sorry if you dont agree.

i think it is a good thing it will make having something other than a few boxes of CH to control a graul worthwhile and make poke-wars go war.

how would rifle users like it if any 5 box dabbler got the the power of strafe2 or the speed of master with little expenditure

Dag,

That is by far the simplest and easiest solution I have seen so far. Jack up the handling level of the critters.

currently 2-2-0-0 will pull a graul and 3-2-00 will pull a mauler, for examples. Jack all the critters up so that only masters can get things like Gurrecks and Rancors and you need like a 3-3-0-0 for a graul and a 4-3-0-0 for a mauler, etc. etc.

I also agree that Non-CH should have NO combative pets, but their mounts, if they have one, should bodyguard them by default.

with this ch nerf / fix (how ever you wish to view it) the devs are also going to introuduce combat droids and maybe feild support droids (droids that heal you in battle)

if (i know its a big if) they implement this correctly you will be bale to buy a droid that can aid you in battle and serve as a replacment for the creature tank .

im hoping that these new droids will enable us to not depend on pets as much as we do now, while giving us the abillites to fight a more strategic battle.

but as i said these are really big ifs

I dabbled with CH once, very briefly. Wound up with two Carrion Spats. Used 'em in maybe a total of 10 fights. Found 'em to be mostly worthless for my style of play, and stopped using 'em and surrendered my CH skills.

So, to answer a question posed from earlier, I would be right where I am now (3/3/3/3 Rifleman) without my pets, 'cause except for maybe 10 whole fights (out of several thousand), I've never used pets.

Personally, I'd be happy if they removed pets from the game entirely, since pet classes are almost impossible to balance against non-pet classes. But that ain't gonna happen, so TH's proposal is a good step.

i am at 4,2,4,3 in rifleman because of my pets. Using pets can be fun and an easier way to get the job done. If you want to be the most powerful PvE then you need pets without a doubt. People who say the mastered rifleman without pets, i applaud you. But what most of you fail to mention is that you probably hunted in groups and everyone else int h group had a pet, or if they didnt you just hung back and lived. Its all very simple pets = living/ no pets = good way to die

Totally disagree that you need pets to master rifleman or that, if you don't have pets, you must have hunted in large groups with pets. I have never used pets and have, at most, hunted in groups with two of my friends, neither of who had pets either. I am now 4/2/4/3 in rifleman. Pets are undisputedly cheezy as currently implemented and I agree with changes that limit the use of pets, especially among non-CHs. Certainly it's easier to get xp as a rifleman if you use a pet, but isn't that true in general of "the dark side". It's easier, more seductive, but in the end it leaves you more machine than man, twisted and evil.

Negative.

The only group hunting I've done has been in the Warren, and I got crap XP for that compared to the rest of my guild (who were getting twice as much Pistol and Melee XP as I was getting Rifle XP).

99.9% of my hunting has been solo.

I do, however, agree that most of the content in the game -- especially after the BAF change -- was being geared towards Critter Handlers, and it was a source of major contention for me. It was possible to hunt without a pet, but you had to be smart about it and pick you targets wisely.

The social aggro changes have brought PvE back into the realm of the non-pet user players, which is a welcome change. Hopefully this trend will continue.

If you did not use critters or hunt in groups, how did you do it?

I went out and found things I could kill by myself without critters and without groups.

Things that weren't social, like Mountain Squills on Tatooine.

Things that were semi-social, like Sharnaffs on Corellia (only the Bull Sharnaffs are social, and if you can get them away from the other bulls, you can take 'em down).

Things that were social, but had a tendency to wander, so that you could get them away from their packmates. Blurrgs were good for this. They're all the time moving around.

Solo critters, that only spawned one at a time. You find this occasionally on some of the adventure planets. I found a Mantigrue Reaper lair that only spit out one Reaper at a time, and wouldn't kick any others out until the first one was killed. Found a Blurrg lair that also behaved like this.

No, you won't advance as fast this way as you would with a group or a pet, but a lot of us don't look at SWG as a race to see who can get to Master the fastest.

ahhhh so well put

I have been playing from day 1 and I am only 1121 in rifleman. I have also jumped servers a few times and messed around with my other skills a lot too. Who needs to race, sit back, relax, and enjoy the sites. I also have only used a pet once or twice, and grouped very little(made more xp without group). So it is not impossible, just have to use different strategies.

This should be an SL useable only droid! It wouldn't be too powerfull, just something that scoots around and tosses stim-a's or weak b's.
