Thread: Why am I ticked off at the new riflemen/women?

Why do I get ticked off every time I see someone post "hi, I respec'ed into Master Rifle today and never ever once picked up a rifle before.. what is this T-21 you're talking about?"

Im not sure where this animosity is coming from. I never macro'ed to get my xp and every xp earned was a cherished Rifleman's memory (coming from someone that has a Master Doc/Master CM thats saying something).. I worked my hiney off to get Master RIfle over a year ago... is it just me, or are all the other Professions feeling this way? To be honest, I felt this way when Jedi were able to respec and pick up any Master they wanted then too, even if they'd never gotten a single XP in it. Maybe I just need a massage.. LOL

P.S. this post is sincere. I need someone to reassure me its ok to have all these new Riflemen with no experience in the profession.. LOL

Oh, I hear you..Loud and Clear!

From soon after launch, I've been a rifleman. To say I know the in's and outs is an understatement...Opps, heh, I mean I used to. But, like yourself, it was a long grind where each new box was an huge "YES!"

But I don't mind the respec-ers, annoying they can be, I kinda like fiddling with my alts. Heck, Rifle was nothing compared to the old BH...remember those guys? (I only know from stories) to be a BH took HUGE time and used most all your sp...now, ever tom - hank & henrietta is BH it seems. Those guys have the right to complain for sure.

I agree whole heartedily.

I actually had someone that just started the game come up to me and tell me that I am doing everything wrong,

My gun is not as powerful as theirs, and they could out damage me because he was a guy and I was a "gurl"...

/roll eyes.

I took him on, and not only wiped out the entire lair before he got his 2 creatures down, but I allowed him to View my Laser. /evilGrin

He asked me where I got the gun and I just smiled, his response was,

"well for a Gurl, you do ok i guess."

I asked him how old he was in RL, he said 13, and I almost busted a gut laughing.

When he asked what was so funny, I told him I was old enough to be his Mother and than told him my age.

LOL he was so upset that an "Old Lady" could know more about Rifles than he did.

I told him I had been RifleWoman since I started playing, *launch* And I did know what I was talking about.

He started yelling, that was it, he quit the game, and why are there a Bunch of Old [EDITED] playing a "Kids" game and anyone over the age of 17 should be kicked out and deleted. ROFLOL.

Poor kid needs some serious help.

I told him to RE-Read the Eula and see what Age limit it was, and that with the consent of their Parents, could they be allowed

to play the game.

So, Yes, I know where you are comming from Magen.

I have a Major problem with people, kids, whatever thinking that just because we are in our 20's and 30's and so forth that we aren't

allowed to have fun on the computer because it's for "kids only".

Just because we are Mature, doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves.

I see a lot more disrespectful children, and some adults even in game that should be taught a lesson in In game Ediquite (spell check please. )

As one those people that respec to Rifleman from a different prof I feelI need to say something in my defense.

I can totally agree with you in the above scenario. I wouldnt be going up to other Riflemen/women and telling them how to play the game.
I'd more likely just ask for their help, trying to understand and getting to know all the ins and outs of the Rifleman.
Having played it for a couple of days now I must say I have a newfound respect for the Rifleman.
Its one thing hearing about or playing against a profession, but its another to actually play them.

I have played a long time to gain the professions I had before too.
The respec just gives me a chance to taste different professions and see what they are all about and stick with the one I like most.
I have to say I REALLY like Rifleman at the moment.

Rescpect to all of you for grinding it.
Though older players have grinded too.

I agree. I am still a new rifleman as Imasteredit about 3 weeks before the CURB hit. I knewwhile i was mastering I could just stop and wait for the respec but doing that would have taken all of the fun out of it for me.I took my time over about 4 weeks playing and learning the profession before mastering and had a blast.I loved the profession before the CURB and I love it now. (I miss area attacks though!)I did the same thingwith swordsman. I love both professions becuase i took the time to master them the old fashioned way. I can't see feeling the same for them if they were just given to me.

That being said, i cant blame anyone for respecing to this profession. It's one of the best and I welcome any new Rifleman/Woman to the club regardless of whether or not they respec'd.

Right on!! Power to the olde folks.

I am 40+ and the kids at my son's school think I am a cool dude for not only playing SWG but being a Master Ranger/Rifleman. The only downside is that they sometimes call me and instead of talking with my son they want me to come over and show them some moves, lol.

I sorta feel the same way about other professions, but look at it this way, if you respeced to a master profession you had to have worked your butt off grinding some other master profession

I did respec to rifles (was thinking of switching to it and grinding it pre-CU), so I didnt grind riflemen at all, BUT I did work my butt off getting master pikemen and spent tons of money speed capping and buying good pikes (because you cant craft a good pike and the looted ones are big $$$$) well after CU all my good LVAs turned to crap and pikemen is just not appealling due to the big fat nerf bat it got.

So I was wanting to do riflemen before, heh I'll try it out (also tried carbines, pistols and comando)

I loved it as I knew I would, so I am riflemen to stay now

Point being : If you respeced to a master profession, you had to have previously worked your butt off to master another master profession, so basically your just trading master for master, I dont see any harm there....except BH investigation that is the toughest tree to grind of all IMO, took 3 months to get investigation III , to be able to respec this is kinda messed up to me, but hey,...more power to ya, wish I coulda respeced it myself

i agree with the age issue, these kids are mad that older people play, hey im only 28 but at least i was around when these movies were made. Most of these kids were not even born when these movies came out. The other interesting idea is having certain servers for different ages but that probably wont work. (conceal shot to the head might)

this is hellarious. I am 26yo and this is the first ORPG i have EVER played. I love it. I have only been palying for a little over a month now and i don't know the tricks to getting mega xp an different things. I have been grinding (very slowly) to get the skills i have but I have enjoyed every bit of it. Slowly working my way up to novice rifleman, btw i only need about 2300 more combat xp and ill have it.

I'm sure a lot of professions are going through the same thing. I mastered rifles during the buffs and armor era, and I'm sure the old-schoolers - those from the days of 2.5x and warping - looked at me and thought "hasn't paid the dues". I would guess another of the big ones will be the old-school BHs from the days of 10 minute shuttle cycles and half the BHXP per mission. (Not to mention the invulnerable marks.)

I figure they ground it out on another profession, and we're all learning a new system, so I'll try not to look down. Even though they didn't walk to school in the snow. Eight miles in each direction. Uphill. Both ways.

I think you feel that way because your only human. But you have to know others who are using the respec probably worked just as hard or maybe even harder to get those elite professions to be able to do it. I did the BH thing when the game was first released and it was alot, I quit bh before I got the inv tree filled, so those old school bhs that mastered it prob feel that way about everyone , back then you needed master scout/ master marksman before you could do it. Anyways I wouldnt worry to much about it because everyone can use rifles anyways and people will probably be using the most damaging weapon they can find.
