Thread: Night Sisters vs Singing Mountain Clan

We frequently see posts here about NighSisters (NS) and all the fantastic loot they give. Along with some complaint how certain ones are immune to all the damage types that Rifles have.
So figured I'd start a little debate. What about Singing Mountain Clan (SMC)? As far as I know none of them are immune to all Rifle damage types. I'm not even sure that I've seen one immune to Energy. Which is our main damage type.
Do both groups have about the same chance of dropping good loot? They should have fair close ones as they are just flip sides of the same MOB. Yet I rarely see posts about hunting them.
The reason I ask is that today I went hunting on Dathomir. I hunted both SMC and NS. Didn't get any really good loot. A couple of lances from NS types. But I ended up with two crystals from SMC Initates. These are the first crystals I've even looted and was a bit surprised to get two of them today considering my string of luck. 
I killed about the same number of each group. The NS overall may have had a little higher drop rate but it was usually Lances. Which I'm not interested in. But has anyone noticed a difference in the drop rate of say exceptional or legendary weapons from either group? If not then why all the interest in hunting NS but much less for SMC?

The NS, from what I've been told, tended to drop the better weapons, especially rifles. High damage, DOT, T-21s. The condition was not always great. SMC, seeing as they are the good force witches, dropped loot, but not as powerful as the NS.
Many of the high end weapons used to come from Rancors until the devs changed the loot drop pattern, of course. I still want to get one of those T-21s.

Only difference in loot ive seen is SMC dont drop NS lances, and SMC guardian drop select crystals while no NS does. Not sure about the Councilwoman though..on all my time on dath ive never seen one

I have looted 2 nice thing of SMC, exceptional SG82 Rifle and Exceptional Sword Cores.

Crystals seem to be a favorite drop of the SMC clan. I know Pikemen like the NS Sentinels, because they can drop good LVAs or VLs. Of course the higher end ones are where you get the better loot. Ironic that Rifleman can take down Axkva Min and the higher echelon NS, the lower echelon, but not the middle ones.

The problem with SMC is finding them while its very easy to find NS.

SMC are easy to find - they have a few POI's and locations that they are a static spawn at. (look for a giant floating bridge in one case)

Yeah, that bridge that crosses that chasm is wherea lotof them are. Or you can go to the NS/SMC battlefield POI. They seemed to have fixed the spawn there, because I always see both factions in and around the battleground.
Strangely, I have yet to see any SMC at their stronghold, whereas the NS are always at theirs.

I dropped about six SMC Guardians today. Didn't get any loot from any of them. The crystals I picked up were both from initiates. No decent loot from the NS I hit either. Couple of lances and that was about it.
I went to both POI bases. Both were mostly empty. NS had about six MOBs there. SMC had a non-attackable spawn there and a Guardian spawn that would come back fairly quick. So only one real MOB at the SMC POI. I did most of my hunting at the battlefield.
One thing I noticed was that the NS and SMC weren't fighting each other like I've seen them do in the past at the battlefield. I use to let them start to attack each other then start hitting them with an AoE. As they were engaged with each other already they use to ignore me for the most part. Now they appear to just sit there.
Random spawns. I found more NS random spawns that SMC while driving around.

Is it possible to get enough faction points with one so that they do not attack you?

+5k makes them not attack, not sure about anything before that

Oh ya and if you wanna be perfectly safe you can kill tons of SMC till you get +5k Ns then kill spiderclan at their cave or the spiders at geo until you get +5k SMc also

Its very simple... Nightsisters have the "fame" of dropping better items, including the NS bicep, witch still or no longer drops, is always a catalizer for one to continue the hunt, seeing as SMC's cannot drop them (it would be nice if they dropped they're own costume bicep, or something similar though)
Point is.., people have always heard about the great loots one can find in nightsisters, premium crystals, exceptional weapons, attachtments..., so.., if they know for certain that these indeed may drop good items.., they aren't bothered with killing many other unkown types of npc's.
I myself have killed a couple of SMC's and, as most.., never found anything special...
About the resistences..., yes.. a rifleman can take ANY SMC alone with no problems... mostely all SMC's have tremendously low resistence to energy.
As for nightsisters..., rifleman's only cannot slay one... a Nightsister Spell Weaver... witch has 100% resistence to all except to kinetic and blast..., on the other hand we are those who can best slay elders and Axkva... provided someone will thank them of course... So I recon.., its a decent balance...; still.. SMC's should indeed drop better loot, and quite honestly.., be a little harder for riflemans to slay...
