Thread: What if I don't want to be a BH

Another noob question....

I am planning on being MR and either MP or MC and using the rest of my points to fill up the Pistols or Carbine whichever I don't master. I like to make stuff blow up.....

Everyone seems to be a MBH, is that because it adds another play element of hunting Jedi?

Should I ditch my efforts to be MP or MC and go MBH?

Is there still enough interesting to do without hunting Jedi?

GCW, Dueling, etc, is that enough to continue to make the game intersting?

Thanks again,

Omaplata

I love master rifle + master carb + 3404 pistols and master marksmen

if you want you can replace the master carb with master pistols and take a 3 and 2x4 columns with carbineer. I think the template is stronger overall then the Rifleman BH template and is very very useful in most situations.

If you do not want to be a BH don't be. I am doing it just because the FS xp trade in for BH xp is 1 for 1.

When I first found this template as the CURB was in Beta, I dubbed it the Soldier Template. Mine is a tad different in that pistols are 4403 for me. The 4xxx gives another +5 in ranged speed. While the xxx4I didn't seen needed as carbine has full area auto that beats Fan Shot, and the +10 melee/ranged def can be grabbed with a BE shirt. Improved body shot is nice as well. Give 3 very stong shots with Improved Head/Chest/Leg shots. 3 of the highest mod shots in the game behind Adv critical shot and Sniper Shot.

Nevertheless, no matter how you mix pistols up...its a very solid template that can handle any template that doesnt have a lot of healing skills in it. Get in a group with a Combat medic though...and even jedi will be avoiding you.

I think alot of people pick up BH because of the great specials. With BH you get a KD shot (Underhand shot), you get a high damage shot (Advanced Critical Shot), You get a bleed shot (torso shot), you get state effect shots (eye shot, confusion shot), and you get a great area shot (spray shot). If you combine these with Sniper shot, head shot, startle shot and knee cap shot, that you get with rifleman, you can deal some pretty wicked damage.

M Rifleman/M Carbineer/CM 4400

Snare/Root/KD/Heal/DoT's/Damage... great for PvE/PvP

This would get you to -10skillpoints.. only CM 4xxx would be achievable everythin else remaining the same....

I've been thinking of doing that exact template, M.Rifleman / M.Carbineer / Pistoleer 3404 / M.Marksman with the Token Respec.

My current template, MBH / M.Carbineer / Pistoleer 0404 is superior, IMO, but Bounty Hunter I feel no longer suits the feel of my Stormtrooper-Clonetrooper Veteran. The build I'm now considering suits the Stormtrooper/Clonetrooper image quite nicely.

Also, the templates you mentioned brings a total of 255 or 260 General Ranged Accuracy vs the 215 of MBH/MRifleman or MBH/MCarbineer.

But what makes the MBH builds different are the great Ranged AND Melee defense.

So, take your pick. You want defense and a balanced template? The MBH templates do that.

You want to hit hard and often with your ranged attacks, but forsake a balanced defense? Try the proposed templates.

The defense on the template is not bad. Not nearly so bad as the way you make it sound.

Your BH template has +190 Melee Defense,+210 Ranged Defense and +40 Carbine Defense. TheSoldier Template has +120 Melee Defense+185 Ranged Defense and +30/+40 Rifle/Carbine Defense depending on what is equipped. Sure the Melee is lower, but you are a ranged template. You shouldn't be engaging at that close of a range. The Ranged differense is a lot less and given the amount of offense the template has and a +345 rifle Accuracy that ends up giving a bonus of like +10-15% damage over what a BH/Rifleman is doing with the same attacks....it makes for a very rounded, solid template that can take the punishment and return far more than it takes.

There is one part of combat in the PVE aspect of SWG that Rifleman are monsters at is Factional Warfare.

Most troops are ranged fighters with the Empire & Rebellion. Picking away at range, laying prone, with your favorite T21, is where Riflemen can reliably excel and not suffer too much from melee units.

I have found that the best combo i have tried has been

Master Rifle

Master Marksman

Master Carbineer

Pistoleer 0/4/3/4

I have a few range mods but have ended up with 345 accuracy and 125 speed

Seriously, you don't need to be a BH. If you don't want to be one, I'd suggest these temps:

Master Rifles - Master Pistols - CM 44xx ( This is my current template and I'm having a ball with it )

Master Rifles - Master Carbs - Master Marksman- Pistols 4403

Master Rifles - Master Smuggler - Pistoleer 44xx or x4x4

Master Rifles - MCM - Doc 4xxx

Master Rifles - Master Doc - and a line of CM

Master Rifles - Master Commando - Pistoleer 0404 ( Can't remember if there is enough sp left over for one of the lines in pistoleer )

Those are all fun professions, BH IMO is very repetitive, its just underhand shot, adv critical, imp headshot for the most part.
