Thread: Nerf/quit... A serious question for the dedicated rifleman..

No matter what happens I will do my best to give the changes an honest to goodness run for its money and if it's a complete "Pooch Screw" I will most probably seriously consider leaving the game, yes.
I'll have to try and weigh it up first because I have made a lot of friends in-game and on the boards, not to mention I am now a P.A leader ( Whodathunkit ).That'll be the saddest part about having to leave![]()
As a person who's been on these boards years before the game launched, helped out in Beta, and put up with the horrid launch they had, I think asking the Riflemen not be nerfed because the majority of the game's professions are broken is fairly honest and feasible thing to ask for.
I admit I am afraid though, I know how developers think and act in these types of games. It is far easier to listen to the whiners and nerf one profession than fix those that need help.
*raises hand*
me, I've had enough.
It's not just nerfs in particular, either, it's the whole game. I've been coming to these forums for more than 2 and a half years, and followed the game's development very closely. The announced features that made me the most excited about this game to start with are no longer a part of the game in any form. Many of the features I still found fun through beta and after release have now been changed, or affected by other changes to the point that they are no longer fun. Even when my friends quit the game after 3 months I told them they were being to hasty, and not giving the game enough of a chance to grow to the point it should be at. Now the game has had more than enough time. But there are still bugs present that have been around since the beginning. The fact that abilities like block don't work properly should be shameful for a company of the size and purported production values of SOE. And the fact that every publish brings this game even closer to EQ in space is beyond disappointing. I hardly play any more because it isn't really that fun when I do. I've been a strong supporter of the game for far longer than it deserved, but the fact remains that SOE doesn't care. As long as their new subscriber numbers outweigh their unsubscribed numbers, they'll do whatever they think will bring in the new subscribers. And that means ignoring the greater, underlying problems, and slapping on anything that can constitute a press release.
There was a great article written a few months ago about why that kind of turnover is unhealthy for a game company, but SOE won't care until it affects their bottom line, and that'll be a lot longer in coming.
Anyways, I think I"m done. I'll see how I feel in a month or two, but I doubt I'll renew my subscription when it's up.
Cheers,
I'm same boat as the Orignal poster, Starsider rifleman since launch(3 months of only having a DL20a!!!!!!).
I'm gonna stick around no matter what. Reason I want to see the ship sink if they fail(the other reason is if they actually pull it off and finnaly get down to the potential of this game).
The way I figure is this, they took $200.00 from me in June(Special Edition game with 1 year subscription), since they took that money from me I'm goning to get my value from it. If they fail I will atleast enjoy watching them scurry around like rats on a sinking ship.
-Now I hope they don't fail, but still they have not changed their ways. They do not deceminate information with the community, this is the most frustrating thing they do not do. Whoknows though maybe Publish 8 will be great and we will be balanced fairly. Maybe they will start being more open to the player base. Maybe the game will get better.
But anywho I'm staying until their glorious rise and SWG 2 is made or their decent into hell and all the Dev's are fired and this game is a cold dead husk in my hard drive![]()
I can't understand how some of you can sit here and contemplate quitting because they are nerfing your precious "broken" rifleman. Personally, it's stupid that a rifleman can fire as fast as a master pistoleer, and be just as accurate from point-blank range... and not to mention having standard 700+ dmg rifles with heavy AP

You're lucky, I don't feel like diggin up all the points nor spending the time to have a conversation with you over how your points are wrong or simply taken to an extreme or simply misinformed. I really do need to get working on polishing up my english paper and this would just rob me of too much time.
It really sucks how we can't even have a civil conversation amongst ourselves without someone dropping a few lame comments in to waste even more forum space.. SHEESH!
