Thread: If you're in a group...
- Do you use overcharge shot (because it hits harder than regular attack and has a good chance of hittingthe health pool) to help your group mates since most people are pistoleers/brawlers which generally target health...?
- Or do you just use headshot and while you don't help your group since the target mob will most likely die from health damage before you can drain their health, but you get more XP since you do more raw point damage with headshot...?
I don't generally group, but if I did, I think I know what I'd do...
I just bought a Spraystick and after some experimentation I have concluded I can't use this in my regular hunting methods. The special move cost is insanely high --- using my normal tactis I had like 25% mind pool left when the monster died. Normally my mind pool is back to full by the time I /stand....
The spraystick is insanely fast, though (mine's 2.3 I think)... and does 9 - 125dmg. That means a lot of low-damage shots, sure, but every now and again I get one in the 400s. The utility of the spraystick, I think, is as a SUPPORT weapon. Which, of course, you'd only use in groups.
In a group, a rifleman with a spraystick could do a great job of crowd control. The thing's so fast you can blast off a warning shot before you can blink. If switching targets weren't so hard to do, you could mindshot each one (a special, I know, but you won't be doing them too often) and then return to regular spray-fire.
Suppression Fire ----- which has done NOTHING for me, solo ---- would possibly work to knock melee opponents to their knees while your group-mates blast them from a safe distance. Or, even, your melee groupmates beat on the now-kneeling (and hence more vulnerable to melee) foes.
But, with a conventional rifle... I dunno, honestly. Hitting the mind pool doesn't help kill the monster generally.... although I can image a situation where everyone else is blasting the health and action and you quietly ping the Mind pool down to zero all by yourself. Certainly wouldn't hurt to throw a mindshot in and then swap to conventional auto-attack (health / action / mind random apparently). If the mindshot appears to be doing some significant damage, and the monster keeps resisting the health / action attacks, swap back to mind pool attacks.
From what I've seen, the game really isn't yet ready for grouping efficiently. This post illustrating one problem. Now, a group of all riflemen... THAT would rock. I'm not sure if multiple mindshots from -different- people would stack (but I doubt it)... but you could have one person mindshot, one person warning shot, and everyone else headshot the heck out of your target. ![]()
multiple rifleman, a medic and a brawler. In a word: beatuiful
Yeah very few on that last comment.
I think rifleman, or true rifleman, are a rare breed, why i dont know, i started out as a brawler and was given a rfile, and have never turned back, now i am a nove rifleman. And the XPs to progress are a nightmare.
Myself, my mode of attack is generally overcharge if im in a group, if im solo i go with the mind pool damge shots. About the only time that i think i would go for mind shot in a group situatuion, is if i can clearly see that they have little mind pool as compared to action etc.. If that is the case i will use mind shots otherwise it is generally overcharge.
To that extent, lets try it out, lets get a bunch of rifleman and we will set up to triangulate.
3 points all firing headshots and mind damage. It would only take 3 rifleman i think to absoultely destroy just about anything.
Im ScottLarrin on Bloodfin and would be preapred to do it if anyone is interested.
I'm on flurry or I totally would. Heh.. let me edit my last comment. multiple rifleman, a 2h Swordsman, and a medic. BEAUTIFUL!
Hey I'm on flurry and I'm workin on rifle specialist now. Obviously gonna be a while before I get anywhere in the rifleman tree, but that's where I'm headed. That, some medic, and 2-H swords = killing machine.
My names Gathi. Give me a /tell or email if you wanna ever make a kick ass PvP tandem/group. I've been planning on going rebel but don't care either way.
